Christmas at the White House

The first lady, joined by Bo, debuted the White House holiday decorations today. Military families were invited to the East Room to decorate holiday treats. Yum!

For the festive occasion, Mrs. O wore a gold silk lurex Michael Kors suit, previously seen for in December 2009, here.

The gold suit was absolutely stunning. You look marvelous! Thank you for the length and style. The shoes were apropo as well.

I would like to applaud you in your practical and influential choice of recycling outfits. What is good is good. Wonderful choices, congrates FLOTUS.

What a delightful suit that conjures the image of Christmas sparkle and festivities. I've seen pictures on other sites of all the rooms decked out in their splendour and all I can say is well done to the first lady and her team. So glad that the president was re-elected. No offence to whoever would have replaced him but I don't think I would enjoy it as much.

I love that she shops in her closet like many of us do! Love this suit and it looks like such a happy occasion. The kids are delightful. And that Bo is a hunky dog--the star of the show.

Lovely suit, This is still one of my favorites. Let the Holiday Season begin. So may events and so many outfits to see.

I'm not a fan of this suit; the cut and style of the jacket are rather unflattering. I do, however, love that big, furry accessory she's wearing in the first pic!

I just love this suit. I am so happy to see it again. Those Michael Kors suits (and there are others) are some of her best investments. THANK YOU, Mrs. T, FOR THIS WEBSITE!!!!!!

Simply perfection! What an unbelievably gorgeous outfit on FLOTUS! It' s simple but has impeccable cut, fit and flattering to her skin tone.

I love this time of year because it means lots of holiday parties at the White House - which means lots of wardrobe changes for the First Lady. She looks wonderful but, honestly, having your picture taken with a dog as adorable as Bo pretty much means you're relinquishing the spotlight at least a little. He's a total scene stealer!

Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 11:25 PM | Registered Commenteroperafanatic

@Hyde Parker, educate me, how exactly is the suit she is wearing rather unflattering? She is not wearing any big furry accessory in the first picture, she is walking the family pet dog, Bo.

I have been a follower of this forum since day one, and I have noticed that our divine mrs o has been reclycling like never before so my thought is that perhaps the inauguaral gown will be one of our favorites that she has worn before and if she does which one would the rest of you to see again. I have three in mind how about the rest of you out there?

You guys should check out the pics on Gettyimages, if you haven't done so. The faces on the little ones are absolutely priceless! The White House staff really did a remarkable job, as usual, with the decorations.... just breathtaking. Those people are talented beyond belief. I really appreciate their workmanship.
As for FLOTUS fashions, well that suit is hitting her in all the right places.
Gorgeous!

@Hyde Parker,
4 years later and still so caught up in your snide, petty, spiteful anti- Mrs Obama snark and put downs. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Surely there's got to be so much more going on back in Chicago that ought to have long distracted from this sustained and almost obsessive need even after 4 long years, to keep putting Mrs Obama down-
Still can't stand the thought of her being loved and admired..?
Must drop by on blogs dedicated to her to nip the cooing and excitement in the bud - Can't have Mrs Obama getting too big for her britches now can we..?
But Bo the dog on the other hand...we appear to have the benefit of your superior insight and seal of approval to absolutely gush on -

@ mische - I would love see the first lady wear the purple, strapless, corset Sorenson gown to the inaugural. I absolutely adore that dress.

Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM | Registered CommenterJestina ( London, England)

@Adear and C., I'm lovin' it!!!
@Mische, to be totally honest, I don't want her to repeat any of the gowns we've already seen. I want her to wow us with something wonderful and new!! But if I had to choose, my number 1 is the Naheem Khan she wore to the first state dinner. The second is the blue Vera Wang she wore last Christmas. The third would be either of the purple gowns she wore. Obviously because purple is my favorite color and it's all about me, don't cha know!!

On another note, tomorrow is the Kennedy Center Honors. I can't wait to see what Mrs. O wears!! I'm so delighted that we have FOUR MORE YEARS to look forward to what Michelle wears!!!

Festive – “figure flattering” fabulous. Love sleeve and skirt length perfect. Won't go out of style. Would love to see Mrs. O wear this look often. Wonderful sharing caring treasured moments for the Military families participating in the decorating at the White House…………and how special they are and our appreciation for what they're doing for us.

FLOTUS looks wonderfully elegant in this suit. Chic, effortless and classic. It looks even better the second time round. It's a pity that British Prime Ministers wives don't look this good. And I'm with Nyon on this one. I'd love to see her silence all her critics with a spectacular original creation. Her furry accessory looks so cute! I want him! 😊

Am I missing something here? I fail to see how Hyde Parker's comment about the First Lady's suit was a put-down! H.P. was only commenting about the cut & the style ... and, the remark about adorable Bo was rather cute! The implication seems to be that no matter what the clothing ensemble, having Bo along as an "accessory" makes any outfit look better!

Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 3:01 AM | Unregistered CommenterLea

@Nyon, I too hope she wears something new and gobsmackingly delicious. She has earned the right to wear whatever the hell she wants to without the now familiar and never-ending envious attempts at controlling her or dampening and restricting the excitement that comes with this once in a lifetime event.
President Obama will be only the second Democrat in modern history to win re-election and the only President since FDR to win the popular vote both times with more than 50% of the votes. A feat in itself - no matter how hard they've tried to downplay his victory. They continue to try to rain on this President's parade, but we are not going to let them this time.
We must push back at any attempts to deny this spectacular couple the opportunity to celebrate this glorious accomplishment. And for anyone who doesn't like it - tough!
You do know that even if Mrs Obama showed up in a previously worn dress the naysayers will still find something to complain and bitch about.
The time has come to simply just ignore the noise and hate and just keep moving FORWARD! Yes we can!

Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 4:57 AM | Registered CommenterC.

@ C, Bill Clinton also had two terms. And actually for the Obama's this is a twice in a lifetime event.

Haven't seen a full shot of Mrs. O's dress yet, but what I have, I like. It's gold and it has a lot of jewels at the top. Mrs. T, potential titles can be "Sparkle" or "Golden Girl", LOL!!!

Sorry Nyon, saw the obamadiary pictures and Mrs. O just looks like a gaudy mess. Her back looks broad and the hairdo? Meh... Thumbs down on this one.

Anon, it's best you not address me unless you have something nice to say about Mrs. O. Otherwise, I won't be responsible for calling you the hating a$$ mofo you are!!!

Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 9:50 PM | Registered CommenterNyon

@Anna, clearly someone can't read or yet still was in too much of a hurry to play defense on behalf of the anti-Obama crowd:
"...President Obama will be only the second Democrat in modern history to win re-election..."
But he is indeed "...the only President since FDR to win the popular vote with more than 50% of the votes both times..." LOL!
And no, this is an entirely once in a lifetime event...winning re-election in the face of unprecedented obstruction and hostility that even extends to malicious women trolling blogs dedicated to his wife to demean her and him is indeed a BFD! Deal with it Anna, it is going to be a celebration like it or not, for those of us who will be moving our country FORWARD with or without the sour pusses.

And @ Lea, Hyde Parker is notorious around these parts for her very personal digs at Mrs Obama - Obviously someone from Chicago suffering from a serious case of sour grapes, but a curious inability to switch off from a woman she feels shouldn't be loved or admired. It's been 4 long years and those of us who've hung around this blog recognize it all too well - no matter how subtle the attempts.
And we will keep pushing back hard at those who think this fashion blog dedicated to Mrs Obama amounts to an invitation to demean and disrespect her or our President.
So to all people of goodwill who love and support this spectacular woman and her magnificent husband, our President, blessings! And we keep moving FORWARD in spite of the naysayers.

Monday, December 3, 2012 at 12:31 AM | Registered CommenterC.

Yes...those just joining this blog, Hyde has a history here that produces nothing positive about the First Lady. So yes, some of us will continue to call her/him out on comments made.

Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterAdear

This conversation has gone far afield, but I did want to say I agree with Nyon about wanting to see a new inaugural dress. But if that is not to be then I'd love to have her wear that red Soronen dress she wore early in the term to an event at the WH that was not widely photographed. It had a lace up corset and we never got to see the front, despite a LOTof whining from many of us on this blog. I do hope she wears color this time and that it's a dress that moves better than the Jason Wu. Y'all know I was never a fan of that one!
