Mrs. Obama mentioned in the Gayle King interview that she and the President do a lot of community service projects. They do, and it is, I believe, a genuine commitment to giving back. Bless them.
The Obama's community service work is more highlighted now because they're living in the White House; however, they've been very active community volunteers for years in Chicago.
These are great......

Is that an Alexis Bittar pin I spy? Not sure - need a closer look.
I wish Mrs. O's hair looked as beautiful at the Kennedy Center as it did at the BET honors. Since her dress is rather plain, but very stylish, I think larger jewelry and a more intricate updo would have brought her look from very nice to fabulous!
I'm enjoying the matching tie on Pres. O and pin on Mrs. O
I'm loving that asymmetric neckline on this dress. That brooch adds just the right touch to highlight that feature of the dress. The little black dress......you can't go wrong!
This First Lady never quits...........GO MICHELLE OBAMA!
With you there C-i-D... marvellous dress!
