Back to Washington

Photo by Pablo Martinez Monsivais / AP Images

Arriving back in Washington last Friday after a week of vacation on Martha's Vineyard (cut a bit short by Hurricane Irene), Mrs. O wore a Tracy Reese auburn tribal stripe dress, paired with staple flats and a Lambertson Truex tote. For those who recognize the dress, the First Lady debuted it earlier this year during a trip to South America in March.

I love this dress. Mrs. T, hope you had a very pleasant summer.

Malia has really grown up this summer. She is almost as tall as her mother. What a lovely young lady she is.

A lovely dress whose colour really suits Mrs. O.

One mustn't read too much into a single photograph but the body language on display here is sombre. Perhaps the Obamas weren't much in a mood to be photographed.

Sure it wasn't planned that way, but love the color coordination of Mrs. O and the girls. They dont look too pleased to be back to the daily grind but everything good must come to an end. We always feel that way after a great vacation.

English Observer,

I agree. Looks like it was hard to come home from vacation. Can't say I blame them.

Mrs. T! Mrs. O is on the cover of Essence Magazine's October issue! She looks gorgeous and if I'm not mistaken she is DEFINITELY wearing Barbra Tfank!

I wonder if it's another Barbara Tfrank dress. It has that look and feel to me. LOVE it.

I logged on to write the same thing that Mrs. A did.

I think they are somber because he is a caring president with a caring family and being briefed about the situation they, (well at least the president was and the family picked up his mood)were aware of what citizens were facing. I don't think that they were thinking about their vacation at all!

That dress is my kind of dress.

The Essence cover is a bit photo-shopped, which cover isn't these days, but she looks SPECTACULAR!

This photo was taken very late at night at the end of a 10 day vacation and on the eve of a predicted terrible hurricane that could batter the entire Eastern seaboard. No mystery here.

May I say that the dress is very nice but the truth is that the Obama look very unhappy .It happens to all of us.

This dress looks great with her gorgeous skin. The girls look great and so does the President.

The Essence Cover shows off her marvelous smile ... don't really care for the hair style on the magazine cover.

@meta: My sentiments, exactly. No mystery. They all look good and they ARE human beings, so they do share the same feelings as we all do. They just look so loving together. I am so glad that they are a well rounded and grounded family.

It must put POTUS and FLOTUS at ease knowing that the girls have a loving grandmother's arms that Is waiting for them, and they can find comfort While "The Only Adults In The Room" can hold and comfort each other such as times like these.
God Bless this wonderful family for all they have been through, going through and coming out of. PEACE
