Behind the Scenes

Official White House Photo by Lawrence Jackson
Shown in a new White House Flickr photo, First Lady Mrs. O waits to be introduced during an event held at the Claremont Hotel Club & Spa in Berkeley, California on June 14. It's a quiet, contemplative moment, truly behind the scenes.
For the appearance, the First Lady paired a white eyelet skirt with a white top and cardigan, completing the look with a double strand of pearls and green patent pumps.

Criticisms of the Obama children is off limits on this site and everyone knows that. Keep that stuff to yourself.
I think the dress is a marvelous choice for a California conference in July.
I think the "posture" comments are ridiculous.
Books are made for reading not for wearing on your head, regardless of what "low rent" modeling agency you borrowed that idea from.
Why is Malia being discussed when she's not in the photo?
I really like the photo and "behind the scenes" caption.
Lots of comments on the length of Mrs. O's skirt. Well, I met with the First Lady's personal trainer, Cornell McClellan and he gave me three exercises for getting toned legs like the First Lady's so I could be ready for summer's short styles. http://fashioncents.tv/2011/07/3-exercises-to-get-toned-legs-for-summers-short-styles/
I love that Michelle does not follow the so called rule book that many of you think older women should follow, same goes for Jill Biden. I was happy to see Michelle's skirt was above her knees, because too often her clothing is really long. This website has not changed, it's still full of women trying to impose what they THINK a woman over 40 should wear, and a woman whose husband is a politician. I hope Michelle continues to embrace her whole body, including her curves, by wearing sleeveless dresses in the winter, shorts, and skirts that fall above her knees, and clingy dresses. Plus, I hope she continues to stay away often from the standard political wife ensembles. I admire her confidence. Overall, I love the outfit, it's very "summery."
When I saw the amount of comments for this one post, I knew some fake cotroversy ensued over something small about his outfit.
@observer
You forgot there was hoopla on here especially, about her showing her arms at various events, so elbowgate might be next. We have had thus far,
*shortsgate 2010
*bluegate(she wore a blue coat to a somber event in Nov or Oct 2009, which sent this website into a frenzy) many said bright colors should not be worn to an event about death
*sleevelessgate(her daring to wear a sleeveless dress at 2009 SOTU Address)
*sweatergate(she did the unthinkable, she wore a sweater in 2009 to meet the Queen)
*unAmericangate( she wore a non born American citizen designer to an American function) she's only supposed to wear American designers to American "events"
*sweatergate 2.0(she wore a sweater to Teddy Kennedy's funeral(the outfit was deemed inappropriate for a funeral, especially the sweater
*posturegate(Michelle has horrible posture, along with her oldest, so she needs to put a book on her head to help her out with her posture)
@ B.R. I see. I await elbowgate! Or should I say elbow-gait? :)
I had to investigate shortsgate when I saw it referenced here! I could not believe the uproar over wearing shorts on a family vacation in hot climate. And these are some of the same users who thought the FLOTUS was falling in line with 'female oppression' when she covered her head in India was it? You would think her legs and mind were owned by the public. She's a public servant, but that does not take away her right to dress how she feels.
She is never indecent. She is confident yet appropriate. And not living like a dead woman because she is almost 50s.
Let's Move everyone! Less typing and more exercising and maybe you can show off your knees, too!
@B.R.: After a long, tiresome, but worthwhile day, YOU made me smile. You summed it up in a nutshell.
Now, I am (LOL)! I just stopped by to see if the picture of Our First Lady sitting in a "circle of children" had been posted, yet. I cannot not wait to see what "GATE" you will coin that.
It just amazes me that as much as Our First Lady does in one day and the causes that she stands engages in for our country and our children, she is not appreciated. I do not remember any First Lady ever doing as much as she does. Could it be those tight-ass suits were too constricting?
Any how, that one picture says how receptive innocent children loves and adores this woman and maybe some of them don't realize who she is. And may not even care. But their innocent love knows a nuturing, caring, kind heart and spirit. When you see the picture, you will know exactly what I mean. Your post made the end of my day grateful that we have a First Lady who does so much and looks good doing it. Thank You. Sweet Sleep.........
Hey Jerseygirl, I'm sorry to hear about your husband, but glad to hear that he's better. It's going to be great having you back around here.
I agree with Nyon - it will be great to see you post again, jerseygirl.
JERSEYGIIIIIRL!!!!!!! Whoop! Get those knees out lady! Sorry to hear about your husband being ill - I hope he is well and truly on the mend. And we really need to hear more about the puppy...
Of course, it's no surprise that among the first doom laden commenters were those two poster girls for the Kill Confidence Dead campaign: Christen and babs. Hi girls! Well at least you are consistent. Even if you are as positive as a pile of Palins.
Gorgeous outfit on Mrs O, love the white, the texture in the eyelet skirt stopping it from looking boring. Love the length - obviously, because it suits her and she is always tasteful. And love the moment. Nicely captured Lawrence Jackson. A moment of collection and thought.
Hey Posh Tater:
I was going to ask where you were! How are you? You did a MARVELOUS job with your editorial duties when Mrs T was away. Congrats!!!!!
I won't tie this comment board with what has been happening with me (I will chat about it later).
Thanks for the welcome back!!
First Lady O has it going on! The outfit befits the occasion, and is definitely not too much. This photo shows that it pays to work out, no matter the age.
