Sunday Best

Photo by Carolyn Kaster / AP Images

The Obama family attended Sunday church services at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, DC today. For the outing, First Lady Mrs. O rewore a pressed daffodil-printed Jason Wu dress from Resort 2011, last seen here. Lavender flats and a double strand of pearls completed the look.

Later in the day, the Obamas watched the World Cup soccer game between the U.S. and Japan from the Treaty Room office in the residence of the White House. Reader Charlene in Detroit has helped to identify Mrs. O's floral print halter top, which appears to be MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela, available here.

Curiously, New York Magazine observes that both the Jason Wu dress and Maison Martin Margiela top were last worn on the same day, March 22, 2011, here and here, while the First Lady traveled through El Salvador. Perhaps Mrs. O's wardrobe is rotated on some sort of schedule?

I love how they are such a normal American family! In the first picture, you see a happy family going to church and in the second picture you see a family watching the Women's World Cup with their shoes off and homeade food!

I just love Our First Family! I am so proud of Our President.

At the end of the day,I am so glad that he has a loving, adoring family to unwind with and keep him balanced . Our congregation prayed today for God to strengthen him, Our First Lady, the girls and also, the people who are working with him and against him in these days ahead.

My personal prayer for him and Michelle is to have God's protection, peace and love.

It is so refreshing to see Mrs. Obama wearing dresses to church. Call me old fashion, but it always made me cringe to see Hillary Clinton & Laura Bush wearing pant suits to Sunday church.

Love the bare feet in the second picture. That's something that we do in our house.

Love, love, LURVE these pictures of my fine, fine, FINE First Family. Even with all of the security and fuss made over them, they somehow manage to be a normal (but absolutely fabulously well-dressed!) family.
I'm loving Pres. Obama's recent choice of ties, He has such an elegantly long neck, he looks great in a suit and tie! I like all the dresses on 'his girls' but I really like the dress that Malia has on. It's gorgeous. It's absolute perfection for a girl her age. Just lovely.

Mrs O looks great, as usual. And Sasha is so cool. I bet she just can't wait to grow as tall as the rest of her family. They are so cool, just chillin' out, watching a Sunday afternoon game. And barefoot! I love it.

I agree totally with isoprize! I'd love to see more pictures of the girls and the Prez.

Gorgeous pictures of our First Family. They look like a beautiful, happy, and "normal" family--just like mine.

All of the Obamas look wonderful in their church-going outfits. Exactly the way I was taught to dress for church.
Bare feet at home? Love it!
It's so sad that the U.S. women lost the World Cup...I thought they would win for sure, and by the looks on the Obama family's faces, they thought so too.

This was one of my favorite dresses from the South American tour.

Has Mrs. O cut her hair? The style flatters her face.

Monday, July 18, 2011 at 5:17 AM | Registered CommenterMcKinley

Lovely pictures. Everyone looks so relaxed and happy. I don't think a long sleeve white dress shirt is the most comfortable at home watching a soccer game kind of shirt to wear though! Unless he just finished work maybe. :>)

Huffpost has some lovely pics that show the back of these lovely dresses. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/18/obamas-church-world-cup_n_901293.html#s310550 I love how Mrs.O and Malia switched up the shoes. I love this family.

It always makes my day when I see pictures of the Obama family and more so when they are pictured looking so happy on their way to church. Mrs Obama's dress is one of my favourite Jason Wu creations. Simply gorgeous.

Michelle Obama wore that shirt in South America, just like she wore the dress in South America.

I love both outfits!!!

Gorgeous dress

What a beautiful photo. Malia is as tall as her parents. I wonder if she has caught up to Mrs.O's shoe size. I wear a size 11 and my Mother wears a size 12. I never quite made it so we could exchange shoes. The dresses are so lovely and I do love the contrasting dress and shoe colors. Just a picture perfect Sunday photo. Makes them look so classy but all American. Sunday has always been about family outings. The hairstyle Mrs.O is wearing is so cool and summery. Also, protects the hair from the dangers of over styling and the risk of humidity and bad hair days. I love it.

What a shining example of how families are supposed to bond. There are no airs about
them. I just love how the Obama family function as if the press photographers are non existent. Such a naturally beautiful family.

Beautiful family

Monday, July 18, 2011 at 3:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterMaureen in Jamaica

I just love the pictures, especially the ones after church services. I love how the ladies are color coordinated in a subtle way. Malia is wearing a green sash on her dress that ties in the green on Sasha's dress. And, Mrs. O and Malia are wearing shoes that match the others dress. Pres. O is just very elegantly dressed and handsome as ever. Obama 2012! I wonder where Grandmama Obama (Marion Robinson) is on this lovely Sunday while her beautiful family strolls the streets of DC?

This is such a beautiful picture of our First Family. I appreciate how they seem connected to one another, regardless of what's going on around them. This is especially heartwarming to see with all of the chaos we're bombarded with on a daily basis!
Tell me, does Pete Souza have one of the greatest jobs on earth! He does a phenomenal job of capturing intimate moments without seeming intrusive. I love his work!

I really love this woman and her family, I wish she could give me some of her old dresses, I dont know the size she wears, but I am size 12 and I am really in love with her sense of fashion, I come on this website everyday to see what she is wearing.... hope she get to reconize me one day.

I know this is late, but....I just had to say that this picture cheers me up and makes me smile.

This is what LOVE looks like. This family seems so approachable and so real! We are so blessed that God has given us a gift for a family like this. I am so proud of each one of them. What a blessing and I pray every day for their safety, good health, peace, love and fruit of the Spirit. It is an honor to be alive and see this family in the White House being real.
