A Fundraising First Lady

The First Lady was in Boston, Massachusetts and Burlington, Vermont today for a double duty trip to the Northeast. In Boston, the First Lady spoke at a DNC fundraiser, followed by two more in Vermont. While there, Mrs. O also managed to squeeze in a trip to the Vermont Army National Guard’s Aviation Support Facility to speak with military families. Quite a day!
For the appearances, Mrs. O wore a white sheath dress with black-fleck texture through the fabric and black chiffon trim at the waist.
A few details from the Boston fundraiser per the Boston Globe:
- The fundraiser was planned by Bryan Rafanelli, who also planned two state dinners for the Obamas, as well as the reciprocal dinner the Obamas hosted recently in London for Queen Elizabeth II.
- It was held outside, under a tent erected against a backdrop of rhododendrons. The white tent and white fabric draping the poles was enhanced by brilliant, lime-green patterned tablecloths with white leaf-like designs. The flowers were by Winstons: peonies, hydrangeas and orchids.
- The menu, by The Catered Affair, consisted of a crab stack; avocado, tomato, cucumber and mango; a salad of baby mixed lettuces; and cilantro lime vinaigrette. Dessert was a selection of tartlets.
- Asked to help a reporter better describe her dress, Rafanelli said simply, “Fabulous.”
Update: That "fabulous" dress is custom Jason Wu. Fabulous indeed!

I really like this dress and I am loving these hair "up-dos" much better than the sort of twist up. I just think her hair this way is so chic!
Jason Wu really does know our lovely lady Mrs. O. I bet he could sew together a dress for her blind folded :)
Love the custom Jason Wu dress. Also love the curls in her updo. Have been noticing the new updo since Africa. Gives her a clean, sophisticated, and classy look.
Subtle sophistication and I too am liking the curly up-do!
Nice view of this sheath dress

And thanks so much Mrs T, I can now sign in on my IPad...YAY!!!
Wait? Wasn't Mrs. O just in Africa? And now she's already out making speeches and looking fabulous? Our First Lady has a punishing schedule and looks great doing it. She is truly a role model as a mother, career woman and politician.
PRETTY!!!
Hi Boazwife! Long time, no read! LOL ;-)
Thanks for the link.
glad to see the blog up and running again...i missed the photos and commentary friom my fellow bloggers
I love Mrs. O's hair like this, too! Is it shorter or is it just tucked in somehow?
Very pretty dress. In the link supplied by boazwife, it looks like there's some detail at the neckline or is it a pin? Can anyone tell?
Thanks to Michele O for bringing the sheath back in vogue, Her style has made business good,
Great read Tom Hanks Buckingham experiencehttp://www.harpersbazaar.com/magazine/feature-articles/rita-wilson-buckingham-palace-dinner
I love her hair this way.
Here's an interesting read. It's Rita Wilson's scoop on her experience as a guest at the State Banquet in honor of President Obama, hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at at Buckingham Palace. She describes the strict Buckingham Palace clothing protocols, including the hairstyles and the wearing or not of gloves.

My goodness, Jason Wu sures knows how to dress Our First Lady. Every dress that she has worn fits her curves perfectly. Well, back to my Pilates mat.........
Shapely in Sheath is what this dress is saying and she wears it well. It looks comfortable, classy , all curves accountable for. What a nice fit!
The hair pinned under looks so care free and no time to bother with it falling in your face style while looking down or the wind or fan blowing it out of place. It worked very well in Africa and the curls makes it pop. You can call it chic if you want, but she is there to do business, mean business and it shows. What energy level this woman has and she compliments Our President tremendously.
On the obamadiary.com website, there is a November 2008 picture of the two of them embracing at the Colorado campaign trail. It is entitled "Peace and Love" After she introduces him to the podium , you can feel all the love, respect and admiration they have for each other from that moment of public embrace. Needless, to say I made another donation.
I admire her hard work and dedication towards him, the children and our country.
In the spirit of the 4th of July weekend celebration, let us not sit at our computers while Our First Lady works hard and looks good doing it, and wait until the last minute before we jump on the band wagon for this campaign to jump start. This blog helps me to start my day or end my night. I am not about to sign off now! I am wearing belts again.......yes, I said it! Secretly, I have always adored belts. I did not have a neat waist until I started back eating healthy and working out.
Thanks to Our First Lady, the house is much calmer because I am.
If we say what we mean, how much we adore Our First Lady, let's start by doing our part early to make sure that we will have another four years to watch Our Michelle's style of dress enlight, inspire and wow us on this blog.
Happy 4th of July to all!
Always love her in Jason Wu. Love how humble and grateful he is. Great American success story. I love our FLOTUS' hair in so many ways, but I think my recent fav is when she does the blowout bob...so chic! I Wish I had her fashion savvy!
Wow! A girl goes away for a few days and comes back to a brand new site.
Nice going Mrs. T…it looks very nice.
@ All - Happy 4th of July!
Love Our: Mrs. O, FLOTUS, Commander in Chic, Michelle the Beautiful…!
Peace.
Thanks for the shout out Nyon...you know I'm ALWAYS lurking...
Does anyone know where Mrs Obama shops for her daughters? They always have such a cute "artsy" look...(but don't tell them that I dared refer to them as "cute."!
Hey@LDS, enjoyed your thoughtful and inspiring post! Happy 4th to all!
