Bold Moves

The First Lady made a surprise visit to Alice Deal Middle School in Washington, D.C. today, where she showed off her dance moves for a "Let's Move" fitness event. Has Mrs. O mastered Beyonce's "Move Your Body" dance perhaps? See more a few posts down for the official video.
On a fashion note, Mrs. O appears to be wearing the same silk neon Zero + Maria Cornejo blouse we first saw her in this March, while traveling in South America, here. A silver belt and stack of lucite bangles (Alexis Bittar?) changed up the look. Has anyone else noticed that Mrs. O's palette has gone a bit flouro as of recent? Love it.
Update: OMG ... yes! Even better in video!
One more from reader Mincey. Here, Beyonce surprises students from Harlem PS 161. Incredible!

The colour navy is so huge now, and perfect with most cool colours.
She looks great here, and she's been looking fabulous in general lately! Keep it up, Mrs. O!
Let's move! :0)
Omazing move
Yes, seems like flouro has been on her mind (or the stylist mind) of late...anyway I like this belt worn with the blouse instead of the belt she wore with the blouse on the South America trip. What a vibrant First Lady!
And here's video of her dancing to the Byonce video at the school:

WOW!!! Thanks marachne for the link...fantastic! I like the simplicity of this outfit!
The Kentucky Derby is Saturday, so I am curious to know what FLOTUS will wear. I recall in the WAPO interview with her stylist, hair stylist, that Michelle's stylist wants to put the girls in hats, which I hope she does not. I hope FLOTUS hat has no bows, but other than that I know she will wear the heck out of whatever the stylist chose.
@ Mia Monte- I hadn't heard they were going to the Kentucky Derby. Interesting choice. Hope they enjoy themselves.
O, how I love Mrs. O, let me count the ways! I don't have time to type the full list but I just added another one. THE FIRST LADY OF THE UNTIED STATES OF AMERICA DID THE DOUGIE AND THE RUNNING MAN! (in front of cameras). And looked good, btw. OMG, this lady is just too cool and down to earth. It might seem trivial to some, but I'm sure to some of those kids, seeing her dance with them made her even more approachable.
Say it loud; I LOVE MICHELLE OBAMA AND I"M PROUD!!
LOL! :-)
If the first princesses attend the Kentucky Derby then I would love to see them wearing hats. I think both girls are old enough to pull it off without looking overdone. I'm a hat person. I love them and wish there was more occassions to wear them. I was truly bowled over by all the hats at the royal wedding last week.
Some time ago my cousin got married at a Pentecostal church in Jamaica. The congregation included regulars as well as guests that she invited. Her only request was for ladies to wear hats which isn't difficult to achieve in Jamaica. Even now, her wedding pictures look amazing - everyone wore their brightest and widest hats. Call me old fashioned but there are certain occassions where in my opinion, a woman isn't dressed if she isn't wearing a hat. The same goes for pantyhose. I don't feel dressed if I am not wearing pantyhose and will often be the last to remove them when the summer kicks in BUT I COMPLETELY RESPECT THE FACT THAT SOME WOMEN WILL DISAGREE AND I AM FINE WITH THAT (PLEASE DON'T ATTACK ME !!!!!). Each to their own.
Have a lovely day, everyone. The weather over here has been lovely of late.
Never has there EVER been a FLOTUS like our Mrs. O! I love her and the Let's Move! initiative. I can't wait to see what she wears to the Kentucky Derby. I know it's gonna be stunna!
@Marache - Thanks for sharing that video link! The First Lady can dance...she was really having fun that day.
@Jestina, thanks for sharing that story about hats and pantyhose. Even though I am not a wearer of pantyhose (but I love a sharp hat!), I think you still have some company:)
@ Jestina, not crazy about these "wild" hats. stockings, I am so stuck with it. I am not complete without my stockings, and it also protects our shoe
The girls should wear small fascinators to the Derby!
Oh my, do I love this woman! Now I have to learn the dance, although I don't think it'll look quite the same for me.
I love the shoes? Any idea what brand they are?!?
From what I have read , and also from what Mrs. Obama herself has said in interviews, the Obamas go to great lengths to make sure that the girls grow up as "normal" as possible. It has often been mentioned that they have chores even though they live in the White House. I think the Obamas would shudder to think that someone referred to their daughters as princesses.
@Mrs. S. I do not think Jestina meant "princess" in the way you were thinking. That is to say they sit around and are waited on hand and foot and do nothing. They are sweet girls...i think that is all Jestina was trying to convey.
@ Kelli, those shoes are by Maison Martin Margiella. Aren't they fabulous?!
What a beautiful woman with a great cause who really knows how to enjoy every moment. LOVE Mrs. O more and more all the time! Thank you, Mrs. T.
Earlier I'd submitted a post...but it didn't get, well, posted!
Just wanted to say Mrs. O is fab...never a plain Jane, even in the most casual in clothes/looks!
Love the lucite bracelets.
Great video and music. The kids understand this message! What a fabulous idea the First Lady had to get kids moving.
Watched Beyonce's version - it looks a lot like the aerobics class I used to belong to.
But "The Dougie"? Has anyone seen the lyrics for that music? You might want to google them before endorsing wholeheartedly for kids - or anyone.
Just testing to see if this comment will post.
Thanks for clarifying my point, Adear. Much appreciated.
I saw this video on another site and was bowled over by Mrs. Obama dancing. She looked great---and not at all intimidated by the cameras. What a wonderfully self-possessed woman. And I love the color she's wearing. I just bought a gold skinny belt that wraps twice--good to see I'm right in style with our First Lady!
I'm back!!!!!! Mrs. Obama is one first lady I will never forget. I love this family so much. I would love to meet them one day. Okay back to fashion, she looks so vibrant in this video. What color would you call the blouse? It isn't yellow. She wears it so very well and the silver belt makes the outfit pop. I have been walking a lot more, the weight issue is a serious problem in this country and it has to start with the parents. Everyone have a wonderful day.
Love the fresh very feminine spring look. Michelle looks so at ease in such a diversity of roles. The woman is amazing on so many levels!
Oh my, oh my!!!! I "love" our first lady! Not only is she smart and classy, but hip and cool (and brave!) enough to bust a move! ...And no prior first lady, and I me NOT A ONE, could "give me body" and get away with it.
Jestina (London, England) - You are welcome.
I just love the FLOTUS!
Did you guys see Beyonce doing this flash dance at a school in Harlem? It's so cute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=EgHY53dOZ-U
Mrs. Michelle Obama is a great example; she's not afraid to "let your hair down" and chill same with Obama. I can tell that Michelle wanted to "Break that Dougie Down" .But she is the first lady, so she had to keep it "classy". Did see how the camera man was all up on her...keeping that camera mainly on her and not the kids. Anyways Big ups and Kudos to Michelle and B. for getting it Movin!!!
@Charlene yes, the shoes are fabulous! I'll have to google Maison Martin Margiella. Thanks for sharing.
Re: the blouse: It looks like she has had the oddly long right sleeve shortened since she wore it in March. Looks a lot better this way. Great color.
