Off They Go

Image by Jonathan Ernst / Reuters Pictures

The President and First Lady left the White House last evening for a whirlwind trip through Europe, which will include stops in four countries over six days. (The itinerary includes stops in Ireland, England, France and Poland.) Mrs. O kicked off her travel in style, donning head to toe red as the First Couple made their way to Marine One.

P.S. A massive thanks to Posh Tater who did a truly outstanding job with the blog this past week.

Oooo, loving the head to toe red! Especially the sweater..... I'm also having a little covetous and sweaty moment over Mrs O's gorgeous bag. Nommy!

Actually, hang on.

Do I spy a white T underneath the red? Which would make it a red, white and blue outfit. Patriotism rocks, even if it's accidental.

Posh did an exceptional job! Her style and flare came through with every word. She is truly a woman of remarkable sensibilities - which was most evident in raising our level of readership through her posts in the Queen’s English (English). Maybe something to do more often - hmm the blog run by the readers? It’s fantastic to hear a new perspective on our favorite lady of style. At the same time we so missed you Mrs. T ...welcome back!

Welcome back, Mrs. T. And ditto to your kudos to Posh. (Although making sure people miss you--once in a short while--may not be a bad thing.)

As for Mrs. O, she seems to get better and better. Wait till the serious campaigning starts.

Welcome back Mrs T. Thanks (again) Posh for your extensive coverage in Mrs T's abscence.

Red looks spectacular on the first lady.

check out the back of the top!

This departure top seems to be another one that is plain in front but has a lot going on in the back. Take a look at www.obamadiary.com (scroll all the way to the bottom of the first page) to get some great views of the back.

okay, there are so many pictures, I'm overwhelmed with excitement!! I love it when our POTUS and FLOTUS represent abroad....they are so classy and beautiful. They truly represent the best of what America is all about....what education can do, family values, compassion and grace. They have it all! I love her in this orange. All the outfits are wonderful. The pint at the pub is so great. I love how excited everyone looks.

After examining the top of this outfit closely, it almost looks like she is wearing a cardigan sweater backwards over a printed top. The printed top that you see from the back is very lovely, however, i'm not crazy about the sweater covering the front of it. It is such a pretty top that I would like to see the front.

Wow! The First Lady looks great in red! The pieces look so effortless. Special thanks to Posh Tater for holdin' up the for last week!

Loving the red!!! I can only imagine how much more over-the-top the look would be, if Mrs. O had worn a chic turban. Just wondering!!!

Here is the back of the Woman in Red!

WoW! Comfy and sexy. Casual, yet elegant. I love it. And the red is perfect!

I agree that the top is nice and "sexy" but it is in no way elegant.

Not very appropriate for a first lady to wear departing for an international trip.

If she were wearing it to a picnic it would be perfect.

Thanks Posh, welcome back Mrs. T! @Isonprize, thats a great back view and I agree that it is elegant. ouch the appropriate police are back!!!

Yes Joss! Couple of us had a bet that the appropriate police would be back today!!! Aaaand right on cue.... ;-)

It's such a pretty outfit and entirely appropriate for someone who is going to sit on a plane for six or eight hours. The President is wearing a shirt, no tie and a bomber jacket and no-one is bitching about the fact that he isn't in a suit. Yadda yadda yadda.

Anyone who says this is inappropriate has never flown across the pond. She dressed for comfort and she got it exactly right when she deplaned in Ireland. Next!
