A Toast to Ireland

Photos by Jewel Samad / Getty Images and Pool / Reuters Pictures

The President and First Lady enjoyed a pint of Guinness at Ollie Hayes pub in Moneygall, Ireland this afternoon. The visit involves a bit of family heritage: President Obama's great great great-grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, hailed from the village of Moneygall in County Offaly, Ireland.

For the second appearance, Mrs. O wore a geometric print dress paired with an easy-fitting sandstone trench. Easy and chic!

Unfortunately, it looks as though the President and First Lady's trip to Ireland will be cut short. Originally scheduled to spend the night, the AP reports that the couple will fly to London this evening as ash from an Icelandic volcano moves toward Europe.

Looks like so much fun. Glad they're being surrounded by happy and excited people. The Irish people have welcomed our president and first lady with such warmth.

I love the Irish people. They have such a warm heart and have made the Obama's so welcome, just look at all those outstretched arms. I'm also sad that they are leaving Ireland so soon but the ash cloud over these climes seems to be getting worse. I just wish I could see Mrs Obama's dress, it looks nice and summery.

She walked through pouring rain and high wind hence the tight french roll.

OMG did you see what the high winds did to Michelle's hairdo?? I felt sorry for her. She knew what was happening but couldn't do a thing about it. But, as usual, you can tell that she kept her poise and probably was joking about it.

There's a BBC video of the Guiness-drinking here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13507730 The camera is pointed straight at the back of Mrs. O's head for most of it, if you want a close-up of her elegant up-do.

I just love the way our President and First Lady represents us abroad. Not only are they stylish (which goes without being said) they are ever grateful and gracious to the people that are there to meet and greet them. One look at ths Marc Jacobs dress and you can see why our Michelle selected it. It's a good look on her

They are such a fun couple!
