New Yorkers should check out "Fashion Girls for Japan" on April 2 - 3. The sample sale will feature Mrs. O favorites such as Fallon, Thakoon, Tracy Reese and Zero + Maria Cornejo with 100% of proceeds going toward disaster relief efforts in Japan.
Consumption reigns supreme. I'm so tired of companies using global tragedies as a marketing exercise to move their merchandise. They get away with it by saying that the proceeds go to charity but at the heart of it the idea is to sell, sell, sell and get the public to buy, buy, buy. We consume and then pat ourselves on the back thinking that we're doing good by buying more stuff we really don't need.
The designers should donate their own money and not use a catastrophe to sell more of their stuff.
Mrs T, Thanks as always for keeping us fans updated. Talking of Michelle's favourite designers. I recently found out that a major store in London carries Erickson Beamon jewellry. I was in heaven and managed to purchse these earrings in the sale recently
One of the main things I admire about the First lady is that regular women who don't have a huge budget can indulge in pieces worn by someone that they admire.
Secondly, I know the oversized green brooch that Mrs Obama wore in Rome in 2009 received a lot of mixed reviews but I absolutely LOVED that brooch and have searched no avail in my attempts to find it. Can you help ? I have a beautiful dress that is dying to be dressed up with that brooch.
@ Jestina - That is an absolutely FABULOUS site. and their prices are .............well, what can I say?............FANTASTIC. I am hoping that they will ship to T&T. I am looking for a threesome that I can use on a dress that I got for my birthday.
Debenhams store in London has come a long way. They never used to be as good but in recent years they have started stocking affordable designer wear. They should deliver to Trinidad & Tobago. Let me know how you get on.
Jestina, those prices on that website are phenomenal! I like those earrings that you got, really sharp. If I run across anything similar to the brooch that you're referring to, I'll shoot over an email to you. You are talking about the green and yellow flower papier mache' brooch that she wore with the yellow sheath dress, aren't you? If not, let me know which one. Also, did you get that info I sent you on the floral oxfords? If not, they are by Urban Outfitters. You all have a website for them in The UK. Ciao Bella!
Thanks for the compliment, Charlene. Those earrings cost me less than £10 - absolute bargain !!!
Yes, I did get the details on little Malia's shoes, thank you very much. Urban Outfitters are very popular over here and there is one near to my office so I'll slide over there in my lunch break.

I am a fan of this website in Tokyo, Japan. This initiative is wonderful! I wish I were in NYC and shop, shop, shop!
Great idea. Hope it goes well.
Wonderful to see this brilliant community coming together for such an important and worthy cause. My heart goes out to the people of Japan.
