While in Rio de Janeiro, the First Family did a bit of sightseeing, visiting the Christ the Redeemer Statue on Corcovado Mountain. For the outing, Mrs. O wore a striped wrap top, paired with navy trousers and a coordinating jacket.
Update: Vogue UK reports that Mrs. O wears a DVF SS2011 ensemble.

The statue of the Redeemer glows majestically in the hills of Brazil creating such a magnificent
back drop for the photo of the First Family. Lovely!

@ Betty. It is very cold up there. When I went some years ago it was the height of summer and the middle of the day and although my friends told me to wear something warm ( I did !) It was still rather chilly. You have to remember that the cable car takes you far up into the mountains and when travelling under trees you can literally see your breath. But I see what you're getting at, Mrs Obama's blouse looks very interesting.
Those Obama girls are getting a travel experience of their life. Christ the Redeemer is truly an amazing sight.

Cool pic. Not too much to comment on fashionwise; just regular slacks and comfy top. Sort of like.
I like the resorty feeling of the jacket and top, but what is going on with the hem of the pants?, and the sloppy-looking puddling. This is a 3-inch heel outfit!!!:) when she gets down off of the mountain.

This is one of those photographs where it can be said "A picture is worth a thousand words." (So much so--as many of You have suggested--that commentary about the fashion is rendered unimportant.)
This is a fabulous outfit. Just beautiful. I would love to have it in my own wardrobe.
