Embroidered and Embellished

Photos by Kevin Lamarque / Reuters

The first lady wore a stunning, embellished frock for her arrival at Palacio do Alvorada in Brasilia, Brazil on Saturday.

Update: And who is a true master of embroidery and embellishment? Naeem Khan, of course! This breathtakingly gorgeous dress hails from Naeem Khan's Spring 2011 collection.

One of the best picture of Mrs Obama and her daughters. Class and gracious with the dress in perl.
I would prefer to see the girls wearing something more formal .

How beautiful! I am dying to know where I can find the gorgeous bronze shoes she has on for her arrival in that magnificent dress! Anyone have any idea which designers she likes for her shoes?

Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 12:10 PM | Registered Commenterfoofoo

@ foofoo: Those gold shoes are Jimmy Choo lantern shoes, I believe, according to a post from way back. She has them in black too, I've noticed. I like them too! :o)

Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 12:52 PM | Unregistered Commenterglammie

This is a fabulous dress and the shoes are great, too..Mrs. O has worn Jimmy Choo many times so
that would be my guess for the shoes.

I think the dress is a Naeem Kahn Dress from the Spring 2011 Collection. It is style #13. Here is the link:

Looks like Naeem Khan Spring 2011 RTW:

Much better without the red necklace!

Aren't the shoes her Jimmy Choo Lantern pumps?

Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 9:03 PM | Unregistered CommenterBeeGee

Dress is described at Naeem Khan as "Natural linen with gold embroidery". Only in some lights do the geometrically shaped gold paillettes show.

gorgeous! the first lady looks lovely. i do think though that she has recently had done something to her face. i compared with your blog's very first entry to be sure and it is very clear that her face is changed now. out of respect for her, i learnt to swallow her straightened hair, and i guess i will accept this now.

The detail in that dress is simply stunning and Mrs O looks fabulous in it.

Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 10:56 PM | Registered Commenterdonnanoshock

I love Sasha!!! I really ike the way she is wearing the stars and Malia has got on the stripes. America's kids. Rock on.

Michelle had better lock her jewelry cases up....Miss Sasha seems to have developed quite a love for bangles and bling!

Love picture #2. At the end of the day the FLOTUS is still "mommy". :)

I think this dress is a little too formal (for my taste) for daywear. But the cut and fit are fantastic on Mrs. O.

My word, my goodness. The First Lady has done it, she's absolutely done it. That dress is divine.

Naeem Khan + Mrs. O = Perfection!

Monday, March 21, 2011 at 3:54 PM | Registered CommenterBevi

This dress is my favorite look thus far on this trip. It brings out the our Michelle's skin tone. From the sleeveless dress that showcase those well toned arms to the bangles that highlights her graceful hands, this dress is a winner! The sleek hair-do and the flawless make up makes this one dynamic look. Oh, the Jimmy Choos is just icing on the cake!
The girls look as sweet as ever. They surely have their own distinct fashion sense. I appreciate that FLOTUS keeps them looking like young ladies. And how precious is Sasha. It was stated that she's happy to see her mom because they rode seperately in the motorcade. It looks like Malia is getting such a kick out of her.
Just adorable!

That is one of the most stunning dresses I have ever seen the First Lady wear! I would have guessed Naem Khan, as well! My favorite dress is the one Mrs. Obama wore at the State Dinner for the Indian Prime Minister. This is the close second!
As I've said many times before, Mrs. Obama is an unbelievably beautiful woman

who represents our country so well. I am so proud that she represets us all, not just in the fashion sense [indisputably!], but as the intelligent woamn that she is!
