Viva Brazil

The first family has arrived in Brazil for a state visit. After landing, the Obamas were joined by Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rousseff to participate in an arrival ceremony at Palacio do Planalto in Brasilia. Later, First Lady Mrs. O attended cultural performances at Oca da Tribo restaurant.
Update: Landing in Brazil, Mrs. O wore a Tracy Reese Auburn Tribal Stripes Strapless dress, available here.
For the official arrival ceremony, the First Lady wore a Rachel Roy one-shoulder dress and jacket, both in "Wall Print". Rachel Roy is certainly becoming one of Mrs. O's go-to designers. On the accessory front, Mrs. O mixed gold and rose gold horn bracelets by Alexis Bittar.
Several readers have noted that Malia Obama wears the Glanz Dress from Anthropologie, available here, while Sasha wears the Girls' print Alessandra dress from J.Crew crewcuts, available here.

@mckinley "I live for the syncopated steps of Mrs. O's fashion march. Mrs. O-- place one Jimmy Choo in front of the other and show the world how it's done"
I am with you on this one!
This suit is a visual treat.
Family Oboma,welcome too Brasil!
you is beautiful !
I love Michelle,for ever.
I think only you girl on wold,...
Wanna too mike me free.
The first family @ their best...love everything they have worn thus far. I love Mrs. O's sense of fashion, bright, vibrant, brilliant and great fit. I know we don't all have to like her style, but men, she looks great and those kids Malia and Sasha are fierce!
Oh, where do I begin! This whole trip is going to be a feast for us Michelle Obama watchers, our girl is going to do us proud. I just loooove that embroidered dress, absolutely to die for. From the black bagles that helps to show case those elegant hands and well toned arms to the sleek hairdo to the piping hot Jimmy Choos......I'm in heaven. And don't get me started about our Malia and Sasha, come on! How sweet and poised are they? I appreciate how our Michelle dresses them so age appropiately and not all tarted up as we often see in children's clothes that are so popular today.
I've said it before, we should send our President a big ole Thank You card for chosing this one as his wife! Homerun and well done!
The fabric on the jacket and dress is just outstanding. Looks like a watercolor silk. In harsh light it reads as a metallic, in softer light as earthen tones. Really just stunning. Wow.
I love this one shoulder dress.... Michelle looks like a brazilian women and we're so glad about it !
The black bangles with the gold clasp she is wearing with the 1-shouldered dress are by Alexis Bittar! Love that brand!
Wow !!! Sensory overload. I haven't checked my computer in a few days but wow... what a treat. Thanks Mrs T
Every single outfit ticks every single box. The off the shoulder dress is totally, completely, classically, elegantly, gorgeously appropriate for the occassion. Anyone who has a problem with the outfit needs to sit down somewhere and gently accept the fact that whatever Mrs Obama wears they are going to find fault with it. Kels has got it absolutely right. Brazilian women celebrate their bodies - big time. I lived and worked in Brazil for a year and I enjoyed wearing my halters and strapless tops. I couldn't beleive how women and little girls wore next to nothing and freely wanted around with not a shred of sexual harassment.
I am so happy for the Obama girls. Look at little Sasha, she is so poised and ladylike ready to meet and greet at the steps of Air Force One. They look lovely and sweet and do their parents and America proud.
@McKinley
I don't think BeeGee referred to the President's red dress as a "matronly frock" she said it was a "lovely simple red dress".
Gorgeous!!
Malia's dress is from Anthropologie - adorable! http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=20643789&catId=CLOTHES-DRESSES&pushId=CLOTHES-DRESSES&popId=CLOTHES&navAction=top&navCount=18&color=049&isProduct=true&fromCategoryPage=true&isSubcategory=true&subCategoryId=CLOTHES-DRESSES&templateType=subCategory
Love Mrs. O's Tracy Reese dress in the first photo. Also love Malia's dress and thought it looked familiar. I'm pretty sure it's a dress from Anthropologie ("Glanz Dress") that I've had my eye on for a couple weeks. I'm taking fashion tips from a 12 year old :) Nothing wrong with that!
The suit is very unflattering across the hips in the back view, and bags across the button in the front view. The single-button front is a look that says "frump"!
The one-shouldered dress, while beautiful and stunning on Mrs. O, should NOT be worn by a First Lady. It says "sex"! I would love to wear it, though!
"....one shoulder dress should not be worn by First Ladies and says sex". REALLY? SERIOUSLY?
Did it say 'sex' when Nancy Reagan as well as Jackie Kennedy wore it? Where on earth do these rules come from? I am so happy that my invitation to The Appropiate Police's Annual Meeting got lost in the mail.
HAVE MERCY!
Definitely feeling the one-shoulder dress with the draped shoulder. I think that the dress is more stunning without the jacket.
Is Malia wearing the Glanz Dress from Anthropologie? I'm pretty sure.

I love the one shoulder dress. I think she looks gorgeous!
Who am I to say what is appropriate or not for the First Lady
or for Brazil? I'm sure she knows and that it's also someone
else's job to know:) I trust her, and she is rocking it!
Thought you might find this interesting...Rachel Roy in her own design, the same dress as Mrs. Obama

I think this is the first photo I've ever seen of a First Lady standing with someone sporting a facial piercing.
Little Fashionistas Closet reports that Malia is wearing Anthropologie
available here http://bit.ly/fOV41T and Sasha is wearing J. Crew
I am just SO proud that this woman is our First Lady. She exudes warmth, intellect, reason and no nonsense - all while looking fabulously approachable. I think that she is my "girl - crush". She makes me giddy, seriously. THANK YOU MRS. O!!!!
Please don't wear flat shoes!
the Rachel Roy dress is available at yoox.com for $590
