Passion and Pearls

The First Lady spoke at the National League of Cities conference in Washington, D.C. today, elaborating on the economic implications of childhood obesity in a push for her "Let's Move" initiative.
For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a carmine viscose jersey dress from Calvin Klein Collection, Pre-Spring 2010, accented by a pearl and crystal necklace. Lovely!

lovely necklace. anyone know the source?
Mrs. O looks amazing! The necklace is gorgeous and it looks like she's working out even more than usual. Go Mrs. O! :O)
Her sense of color as communication is amazing!
The color of the dress looks faded -- maybe this is just the light? Anyway, LOVE the necklace!
Fans of the dazzling Prabal Gurung from the Governor's Dinner, check out the Huffington Post's slide show of Jennifer Lawrence http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/15/jennifer-lawrence-style-photos-_n_835030.html#s253029&title=January_2011_at The top of this dress looks similar -- do you suppose this is how Mrs. O's looked in the full length view we never got to see?
I think they should ban signs and stands in front of Mrs. O so we could see her dresses & outfits.
lol, Char
Jewellry can really bring out the best in an outfit. I like this look.
Love the necklace and the beautiful color of the dress.
FYI - Today today at 3:30 PM Eastern, FLOTUS hosts her 3rd annual Spring Garden Planting Event at the South Lawn Kitchen Garden. She will be joined by local school children. It will be livestreamed at the WH: http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/
Thanks to Mrs. O for continuing to inspire our nation!!
Hey @meta, thanks for the tip! The color of the dress really suits her. Is she wearing two necklaces or one? She is fabulous.
The necklace really makes the outfit here. Love the color!
I like this dress on our Michelle. It seems comfortable and effortless. She seems to add a different necklace each time she wears it, but my all time favorite look was the first time she wore this dress. Now, that necklace was slamming! All in all, this is a good look.
And more news on Mrs. O and the garden. Mrs. O has a book deal!
Michelle Obama signs book deal with Crown: White House garden story
WASHINGTON--First Lady Michelle Obama planted her spring kitchen garden on Wednesday---the third year for the garden--as Crown announced that Mrs. Obama will author a book about her signature project. Mrs. Obama, who will have a ghostwriter help her, accepted no advance for the book and the proceeds will go to charity.
"In her book, Mrs. Obama will tell the story of the garden she has established on the South Lawn of the White House and explore how improved access to fresh, locally grown food can promote healthier eating habits for families and communities," Crown said in a release.

This is an exciting idea!!
Talbots is the source for the necklace....I bought it just before the holidays. It is even more beautiful in person!
Meta. Thank you for the great information and hopefully the book will be a bestseller so the charity will benefit enormously. I love the creativity Mrs. O has shown in her position.
Another day, another winner...the dress, the color of the dress, the hair and the necklace worked. Keep working it Mrs. O. Thank for this forum Mrs. T, I enjoy coming here whenever I need to unwind. @ Char, Amen Char, I agree lol
Why must we search out the sites for the Mrs O videos? I have no idea why we only get remarks on the White House website. Anyway, found the video of the conference. I cannot download and you have to fastfoward to 57:19 to get to the first lady. Here is the link. http://tinyurl.com/6kq8c3y
I wish the White House East Wing would get it together. Mrs O is as much the face of the US as the President and she needs her spot for videos as well as pictures to be updated frequently.
