HealthierUS School Challenge

Yesterday was a jam-packed day for the First Lady. After the Joining Forces appearance, Mrs. O hosted a White House event to honor schools that helped to meet the goal of doubling the number of participants in the HealthierUS School Challenge in a year.
For the afternoon event, Mrs. O wore a pink print dress and adorned with a bow pin.
Update: Mrs. O wears a Target Merona Collection Taren Woven Dress, available here. (Thanks for the links ladies!) The dress appears to have been lengthened for the First Lady, as the full-length dress can be seen here. The bow may also look familiar to some. The First Lady paired it with a Thakoon dress for her Ten at Ten segment on the Jay Leno Show in 2009, seen here.

The return of the bow..fun and whimsy! She really is looking younger and younger! LOVE HER.
Simply beautiful!
The pink dress that Mrs. O is wearing is a dress from Target! I also have this dress - it's a great dress!
Love the look!
What a cute and feminine dress, I love it! I love the color combination of black and hot pink (?) with the bow and the waist defined. This is a dress I would LOVE to have!Mrs. O looks great!
This fabric is identical to a sleeveless blouse I bought my daughter at Target. You don't think...?
Lovely!!
The trimming and the bow looks brown or is it just my screen. Either way, I likey!
LOL, the video is funny to me because I can't even see Mrs. O for all the cameras.
Hasn't she worn that bow before? She has such a wonderful heart. How lucky we are to have a First Lady who is such a fine example to all of us--God bless her.
That dress is from Target! Merona is the brand! Good for her! Always looking good.
love this dress, love the fit, love the color. Mrs. O looking fabulous!
Did anyone find a link? Or would anyone be willing to email me a picture? Thank you!
Sigh; and what everyone's post above mine says :0)
I don't usually shop for clothes at target, but if this dress is from target I will start checking out their women clothing section. The dress is beautiful on Mrs. O.
Fun! The White House website has a video and (almost) full-length view http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/first-lady-michelle-obama And don't miss the picture of Mrs. O with Bo! Looks like this dress http://mrs-o.com/newdata/2009/8/1/a-spirited-orange-swirl.html
Mrs.T - I think this is the dress: http://www.target.com/p/Merona-Collection-Women-s-Taren-Woven-Dress-Red-Print/-/A-13513474
The bow makes the dress pop! This is a must have dress for me. Thanks Bibi for the Target link.
Love it and love her hair. Maybe the dress was purchased at her most recent Target outing. :-)
Hmmm, wonder if she bought it on that recent trip to Target. Anyway, the dress has been modified. It's definitely longer in the picture on the White House website. A short dress on Mrs. O would be very short indeed, so I can see why she had it lengthened.
In any case, I love it when our FLOTUS wears such affordable pieces! And I'm jealous of those of you who already own this one.
So now we get to see what she picked up at Target a couple of weeks ago!
Pretty - great color on her.
Thanks for the tip on the whitehouse.gov website, a MI Mom! The dress Mrs. O wore is not the exact dress as in the Target link provided. Mrs. O's dress is longer and has the banding around the skirt. Interesting - the one she wore today is not on the Target website that I can find.
great spot on the Target dress you guys. now i want it lol! definitely looks like she had the length of hers altered. and the bow just adds a nice feminine touch to it. love it. :-)
O how lovely.
Interesting. The Target website states that the dress is not available in stores. And, the version Mrs. O has on is definitely longer and fuller. It's almost as if someone bought two dresses and used the second one to alter the first.
Of course I am only guessing but I think Mrs. Obama purchased two dresses and used one to supplement the other. I saw the dress on the website and wondered if she was wearing it as a tunic over pants. Thank you for the reference to the White House website where a full view of the dress is visible. Even as an eighty dollar purchase with dressmaker/tailor fees, it is an excellent example of a strategy for propriety on-the-cheap. Thank you Mrs. Obama and Thank you Mrs. T.
Target confirmed that the First Lady wears the Taren dress, $39.99. I would assume, like Sonia C. and Dr. Cheryl, that two dresses were purchased and the length was modified.
What a fabulous look. So fresh, so modern. The bow is whimsical and the whole outfit is classy AND affordable. Now, let's see what the haters have to say about this??? LOLOLOLOL
snark on/
Has anyone mentioned that she really isn't the First Lady of the United States? And that Target would never have a buyer who could immediately get fabric to a tailor/seamstress to have a dress 'tailor-made' for just some random, tall, black female American customer? Why in the world would they do something like that??
snark off/
I love it. Mrs. O is wearing an altered $39.99 dress and looking absolutely fabulous doing it. I'm sure a few folks will be dusting off some sewing machines over the next few weekends.
She, once again, demonstrates that "low" fashion can look just as good as "high" fashion. I love the fact that after a super glamorous state dinner, she shows up at an event wearing a dress from Target. Way to go, Mrs. O!!!
I have been offline for a few weeks, as I had heart surgery and spent a week in the hospital, but I want to say how much I love this dress! The color is wonderful, and the addition of the bow really is perfect and sets the dress off. I think Target should find some of those bows and add them to every single dress, even if it brings the price up.
@ isonprize, I bet you're right about that.
When I watch that show, What Not To Wear, Stacy & Clinton always tell the participants that a seamstress or tailor is your best friend. Not everyone can wear items right off the rack and this is a prime example. I remember that our Michelle did the same thing with the H&M dress to add some lenghth and fullness at the bottom.
This looks nice with the sequined bow. I like her style!
I really like the new hair style of the first lady. I thought she wore it well shorter but this longer look works well.
Christen...hope you continue to heal and feel better soon
Pretty in pink and black! And Mrs. O's neck looks so much longer/taller with her new hairstyle.
Hmm, this dress might already be out of stock! I wonder if the store has my size in the other color(s)?
Get well soon, @ Christen. It's so true about a seamstress, mine is definitely my best friend;-)
Hi Christian!
Glad to see you up and about. I too know about “matters of the heart“. Take it easy and take good care of yourself.
And when your doctor says you‘re ready….Let’s Move!
Love the hair. Love the bow. Love this dress! Love the fact it came from Target. Love Mrs. O
Peace.
Im starting to really like the longer hair.
Again, I haven't been online in a little while, but I want to thank all of the generous women who wished me well after my surgery. Your kindness is very touching to me. Coming to this wonderful website has been a terrific diversion for me. Thanks again!
