Sunday Morning

Image by Dennis Brack-Pool / Getty Images

The first family attended church this morning at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. For the outing, Mrs. O wore a floral Thakoon dress, first seen for one of the presidential debates in 2008, paired with a oatmeal colored jacket and grass green pumps.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Love the jacket and shoes - I wonder if the jacket has another piece (dress/skirt?). The girls' dresses are nice too. Watch out for Miss Malia! Shes' blooming.

Beautiful family, although we have seen this dress before it looks good. I love the coat as well, it probably is partnered with another piece, but of course Mrs. O will mix and match. I have to say it again, what a beautiful family!

Any information on Malia's outfit? I like the combination of pattern and fabric.

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 4:57 PM | Unregistered CommenterGeorgia

weird Malia doesn't seem as tall in this pic compared to when i saw her walk across the lawn with her mom in another pic

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 5:17 PM | Unregistered Commenterari

can you identify what malia is wearing? it's super cute.

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 5:21 PM | Unregistered Commenteranna

Awww, Sasha looks like a little doll in this. And the President looks like he couldn't be happier getting to escort such lovely ladies.

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 5:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterPattie

Beautiful family, indeed! And Mrs. O looks so much like her mother in this picture.

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 6:03 PM | Unregistered Commenterouapiti

@ari.- Probably has to do with camera angle, and the fact that the Potus and Sasha are standing atop a curb in this particular shot, that she appears shorter. Still, even in flats, this beautiful young lady is almost as tall as her Mom who is right beside her....and wearing heels. Such a beautiful family. Continued health and safety for all of them is part of my daily prayers.

I am hoping Malia's outfit comes in my size!

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 6:26 PM | Registered CommenterBevi

Beautiful family! Great role models for American families everywhere of every background. Malia is blossoming into quite a beautiful young lady and the baby girl is a doll. Lets not forget how fab my president is looking (OBAMA 20212)!

Stop growing Malia! I can't believe I want fashion tips from a 12 year old. Where did she get that sweater and dress.

florals in fall... is this a new trend?

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 8:01 PM | Unregistered CommenterMr L.

Like mother, like daughter--stunning!

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 8:30 PM | Unregistered CommenterReaderGirl52

I must say Malia definitely stands out in this pic. Tall, striking, and I believe she's wearing her mother's sweater. Sasha's dress is also really cute with the matching shoes (Crewcuts probably). I do like MO's shoes and dress they are very nice. As for the POTUS I think he should wear beige or grey suits more they look really nice on him.

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 9:06 PM | Unregistered CommenterJessica

LOL @ Christina. They grow up so fast, don't they?

The whole family is just ADORABLE! Malia outfit is just too lovely and Sasha's shoes are really cute.

This made my day!

Sunday, September 19, 2010 at 9:38 PM | Registered CommenterAshley Williams

Michelle will have to put a lock on her closet soon! Malia looks wonderful...age appropriate and polished. Note the stacked bangles on her wrist.....And is anyone as cute as Miss Sassy Sasha?

I don't really love the jacket the FLOTUS has on with this particular dress but it's just me. I don't care for the collar.I think I'm still swooning over the red dress she wore yesterday.....................

I don't believe we've seen this outfit. Mrs. T? Anyone? Thanks

Mr. L...as to florals in the fall, the colors of this dress could be Fall colors; pinks, green, oatmeal.
Also, the weather dictates what people choose. If the weather is nice and sunny, why bring out
the drab grays, brown and black? The season for that is long enough, at least in most of the country.

What a lovely photo, and a lovely family. The colors of Sasha's dress are beautiful, and Malia's outfit is so cute. Looks like she has borrowed some of her mom's trademark bracelets!

I only had eyes for Malia. What an extraordinarily beautiful and elegant young lady. Wow.

I agree completely. I see where Joey is coming from on all this, but for the time being I'm loving what he does on the mound. Also, feel free to add "Tommy Hunter fanboy" on the end of your name as well...haha.replica iwc|

What a lovely family!!!

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 9:16 AM | Unregistered CommenterAlma

Gorgeous! Malia and her mom are stunning! And Sasha is as cute as a button!
It's not fall yet, still a few days of summer left...but what's wrong with a floral pattern in the "right" colors and fabrications for fall, I wonder, Mr. L?

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 10:20 AM | Unregistered CommenterAttyGirl

It is with great joy and honour to move to the lords temple as family very few pepole can hamble them selves to that may the almight God richly bless the first family.

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 10:24 AM | Unregistered CommenterEdwin

@ Mr L. I would have said the look was more autumnal florals rather than spring florals, especially since there is a nice sprinkling of dark greens and browns on the dress. My garden is bursting with dahlia's and roses at the moment. In fact, I always think that when it comes to seasonal colours, autumn does it best.

The jacket compliments the dress nicely and I love the way her shoes have picked up colours from the dress also. I like this look.

The family that prays together, stays together. If I ever find my knight in shining armour and if I am blesed to have a family although I'm in my 40's then I would love to enjoy such special moments.

They ALL look fantastic, just superlative. And to Mr. L, yes floral dresses are a big trend this fall http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/general/photos/0,,20409213_20405144_20815913,00.html

I'm sorry to say that but Mrs O hair style is sooooo old and looked so bad.

Seriously how cute are they?

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 5:10 PM | Unregistered Commenterfun

Mrs. T, could you do some checking around to see who made the earrings Mrs. O wore the night of the HIspanic Caucus gala and on Saturday night for the Black Caucus gala? Not that I can afford them, but boy they sure do look gorgeous and I'd love to know who they're by.

Thanks!

I think we love their family pictures (fans) - because we see a picture of total togetherness in every sense of the word. The dynamic couple we love....and everything they believe in, shining through their children (we see little Mrs O and the President) a picture carved in heaven.

A beautiful FIRST FAMILY. A family with class and poise.

America can be proud of President Obama and his family.
They bring so much style to the White House.

What a lovely, well dressed, and happy First Family of the USA!

@ mr. l and nic john, you are the same troll posting under various names.

Mrs. Obama's hair looks great; the problem is you know it and can't stand it.
The dress was worn during one of the Fall 2008 debates; Mrs. O knows when and how to wear her florals.

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 11:15 AM | Registered CommenterSoccerNana

LOL! Soccernana you said it!!!! Jealousy is reeeally ugly!! Winter florals have only been in since people could print or paint fabric. Duh.

Love the look of the whole first family. Malia looks like a model in waiting! Sasha is very cute. Mrs O as elegant as ever.

@ meta, our Michelle kicked it up a notch with a double strand of pearls and pink Jimmy Choos! It's a hot look. Could this dress be Barbara Tfank?

Mrs. Obama looked divine today at the event to present the Medal of Honor posthumously to the sons of U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Richard Etchberger for bravery in March of 1968 in Laos, in Washington, September 21, 2010. http://theobamadiary.com/2010/09/21/gallantry/

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 6:11 PM | Registered Commentermarabout40

The dress is Look # 14 of Barbara Tfank's Fall 2010 collection on style.com. It's quite stylish and I like how FLOTUS added her orchid/pink colored pumps. Lovely!

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 6:22 PM | Registered CommenterCharlene in Detroit

Mr L.: FALL doesn't start until tomorrow, Wednesday, September 22nd...in the evening. Also, I have never heard of your rule that claims no florals in fall and winter.

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 6:23 PM | Unregistered CommenterChristen

Thanks for the sourcing, Charlene! Many of those dresses are really beautiful and really suited to Mrs. O.
