Opening Act

First Lady Mrs. O spoke to dance students from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and the Joy of Motion Dance Center, as they rehearsed a segment from the Broadway show 'Hairspray' at the White House today. For the event, the first lady wore a pale green, lightweight pant suit, paired with an Erickson Beamon techno deco belt.
Update: Mrs. O's matte jersey pant suit is designed by Stephen Burrows. And the official word on the much-debated color? Sunrise Yellow.

I'd call it minty pea green. She looks a damn sight better in it than I would, though. If I wore that color they would call an ambulance.
If the pants were more structured and hemmed correctly the proportion would be great on her. The belt hits at the right part of her torso; the wider shoulders balance her out. The length of the jacket is perfect for her.
From the hip up, it's a hit. From the hip down, it's a miss.
The color is pretty hard to judge in the purple stage lights. I'll bet it's a brighter tone (yellow? chartreuse? lime?) than what it looks like here.

7 great pictures of this pantsuit on Huff Post including closeups of the belt and the shoes (is it the lighting or are there sparkly bits on them?) No one can seem to agree on what color it is. Perhaps we should just call it FLOTUS green???

Mrs T! Look, we HAVE seen this belt before! Look at this from Jan 19th, 2009! What's amazing is she matched it to this pantsuit so exactly it looks like it was custom made for it! WOW! any idea who designed this pantsuit?
The one thing I love about this outfit is the jacket length--perfect I think for her figure. And I don't hate the belt on this one because it's thinner than most of her belts and I think it enhances the outfit, unlike some that look to me like the extra piece that just doesn't belong. Other than that, this one's a miss for me because it doesn't quite seem to fit, especially the pants.
I never cease to be amazed by the range of colors she can wear! I smiled when I read Canyongal's comment; I'm afraid I too would prompt a call to 911 if I showed up in this color! I don't believe I've ever seen a color that doesn't look great on her. I'm envious.
I love the color and the shillouette of the jacket, however, the pants do look a little sloppy. It is important particularly with this fabrication, that you wear a very high heel or else it tends to look like this, a puddled mess. I think that with the fullness of the leg, the pants could actually hit her at the bottom of her ankle and still be stunning.
Posh Tate: This is the Mrs. O Fashion Blog. That's all it's about is Mrs. O's fashion, so that's what we discuss. It doesn't mean that we worry about it in the great scheme of things. I, for one, know that I am capable of reading, thinking and writing about many different subjects in the course of a day.
Posh Tater: For someone who thinks this is so frivilous in light of the 20,000 dolphins, you sure have alot to say about the suit yourself...
I have a name for this color no one has hit on yet: Wasabi. That's exactly what it reminds me of.

Why don't you back off? Many posters weave commentaries into their posts on Mrs. O's fashion choices. What makes Mrs. O and this site so special is we see her be stylish while doing good work.
Looks like something Laura Bush would wear
I like the suit, but the color isn't the greatest on Mrs. O. I think you would have to have very very dark skin for that color to look good! I think the belt and pants are really cute though. I want some black pants like that!
That the Suit I designed for her,
She looks Divine!

Stephen Burrows, God love ya but how in the world did you name this Sunrise Yellow?
