A Lovely Remix

The first lady joined U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid at the Red Rock National Conservation Area yesterday to help launch Mrs. O's Let's Move Outside! initiative to promote more outdoor activity for children.
For the event, Mrs. O paired a floral Etro cardigan with a J.Crew skirt and Sonia Rykiel belt (all first seen last spring/summer). Silver ballet flats completed the look and kept Mrs. O on the move!

"Michelle, My Belle. These are words that go together well." So cute. Thanks for those video clips AppleGirl.
Mrs.O looks really summery and relaxed visiting Sasha's school in her red and white floral Talbots dress with a white cardigan and Sonia Rykiel belt. The white bag she's carrying and her shades complement the outfit well.

Mrs. T, you may be interested in posting this, Sophia Theallet for Gap, makes a dress similar to one Mrs. O has worn.

Not my favourite choice of colour/pattern mix today.
Did anyone see the President and Mrs Obama with the children at the White House last night on TV for the tribute to Sir Paul McCartney? Mrs. Obama wore a beautiful dress but she was sitting at the time. Sir McCartney was signing the song "Michelle" and it was so beautiful. When the music got to the part that said, "I love you, I love you, I loveee you." the President leaned over signing those words into Mrs. Obama's ear. Wow! Anyhoo, if any one finds pics on that please post. Thanks.
While I understand the need to defend Mrs.O when negativity seeking, disrespectful posters such as Edie, Nonpasserat and others rear their ugly heads I think it is important for those of us who are regular visitors, including myself, to resist the urge to give them what they want, which is an angry reaction to their comments.
Instead of giving long, lengthy responses let's just try to ignore them. After a while the thread begins to take on an immature and bickering tone making both sides look silly.
I believe that Mrs. O, being Mrs. O and much the lady, would call for some civility. Those are those of us would should take their cue from her.
Okay, I just went in and deleted a TON of comments, from basically, everyone! I have one thing to ask. If you feel bothered by a comment, please email me.
If you feel tempted to write something a bit nasty back to someone, please email me.
If you feel tempted to write that this used to be a great blog, but now everyone bickers, etc. etc., please email me.
This is how we dealt with the troll a year ago, and how we will manage this situation now. My email is contact@mrs-o.org. I will delete comments before the conversation deteriorates. Thank you.
@ JMH - no problem re: the name mistake. :-)
I agree that, like any American, the President's wife can wear whatever she wants to a function. However, if others are going to hold her up as a shining example of sylish dressing that others should follow or think is appropriate, then I think it should be OK to criticize, if others don't have the same impression of the clothes.
Dressing appropriately is a function of being stylish. While I think most women feel comfortable in their choices, particularly those who are used to being in the public eye, if Michelle is trying to make a statement and show how stylish she is, then I think it is appropriate to criticize when those of us don't have the same feelings about those choices.
It's obvious that she's not a size 2, that she has some body flaws, and that she is tryng to be a role model for others. So, when she makes a faux pas and doesn't pull off the look, it should be appropriate to make comments. Criticism is just that, whether the readers or her fans on this site like it or not.
Beautiful colors! I think this outfit works and that the picture is just off.
My guess is that when she is standing straight and still, Mrs. O looks great in this bright sweater and skirt.
I think this sillouette is unflattering:(
'"Also, she really, really needs to cover up those knees and the peek-a-boo thighs with their hint of cellulite."
This excerpt from a post in this thread is not a criticism, it is a callous, disrespectful remark. It should be removed as an affront to regular posters who have found better and more tactful ways to express an opinion about Mrs. O's wardrobe choices.
Is mrs o wearing a belt on that sweater? Think that's why it looks a bit pulled for some. Anyway, would have loved to see her wear the sequin converse here! Just ordered mine from nordy's
