Tres Chic in Prabal Gurung

The first lady is wearing a hand-draped, off the shoulder, red matte jersey gown by Prabal Gurung at the White House Correspondents' Dinner this evening. Stunning!

Update: On the jewelry front, it appears that the first lady wore pieces by Bochic and Sutra Jewels. The bottom gold cuff is a Sutra Jewels piece, created from 10 carats of raspberry tourmaline, flanked by rose cut diamonds in a star-burst motif. The top cuff appears to be a Bochic piece, constructed from white bakelite, gold filigree and rose-cut diamonds, seen here.

Attygirl,

You are right on- there is zero comparison between Palin and our beloved Flotus. On many levels.
Ms. Palins' clothes purchased by the GOP were boring. And of the two who has heart? We know the answer to that. Wowie, this red gown is just amazing! Love the bracelets. Does Johnny Wright style her hair all of the time? Do we think that she has a stylist with her on the road? Anyway her hair is wonderful!
what do you ladies think?

Oh my goodness Kanini, that song immediately came to mind too!!! She is a really lovely First Lady; eternally unassuming and so well-grounded. I so adore this woman!!

Stefania describes the color as coral in italian, and she just may be right. Deep coral maybe? It's really beautiful as is the lady!!!

A very nice gray suit. I am glad to see the pin come back. It's the perfect way to turn gray into
original and charming.

Regarding the media and the Palin family that was an issue because the RNC bought their clothes which was a dubious use of funds. Regarding the McCain's they started it by calling the Obama's elite while they themselves owned multiple homes and his wife's suit RNC outfit cost 300k.

Ladies, a note to anyone new to this blog: We all promised not to pick on Michelle of the CAPITAL LETTERS. She is vision impaired. Posting on this site brings her joy.

Mrs. T, thank you for always posting her comments. I'm sure it means a lot to her.

Omg...I would have loved to attend this dinner...to be in that room with all those people and the Obamas that would have been a dream come true. But from what I hear that room was packed they even had to turn away people that had tickets.

Let us all bring it down a notch - there is no need for snide remarks about Mrs. Obama and the other first ladies. NWS, the most stringent critic should acknowledge that Mrs. Obam has caught the "eye" and interest of the public and thank you Ms.. T for this site..

Mrs. T I just read an article at the Huffington Post located in the style section about Prabal Gurung reaction to finding out that FLOTUS has worn his dress to the WHCD. I love reading the reactions of designers upon finding that First Lady Michelle has worn their gorgeous gowns!

Love the website and this is my first time posting, but I just had to respond...

@miss t... I personally never took issue with how much Cindy McCain paid for her clothes-- as with Mrs. Obama, it's her money, she can spend it how she sees fit. What I DID take issue with was Mrs. McCain dripping in diamonds and Sarah Palin & fam. shopping in Neimans, all the while trying to portray the Obamas as "elitist". Give me a break!

Can we please get out of the Obamas' checkbook? Have a great day, all!!

I might be hungry but when I first saw this gown, the color that I thought of was Hungarian Paprika! This is GORGEOUS! FLOTUS hit it out of the park with this one. The smoky eye and nude lip works like a charm. I like the doulbe cuff bracelets, it's not something that we see unless it's on the runway or in editorial print from a magazine. It shows that it's ok for anyone to wear accessories any way that you want, make it your own. For some it might be too much, then for some it might not be enough. I appreciate how we have a myriad of choices and we can have fun with our clothes. She sure does!

I don't like she wore her hair to the Correspondents' Dinner--It's too short and boring.
