A Toast to Modern Glamour

Tonight is the much anticipated Governors Ball, held in the State Dining Room of the White House. Surprisingly, few photos have surfaced. Mrs. O appears to be wearing a chic black evening dress for the fete, paired with flawless hair and make-up. Fingers crossed we have a chance to see the gown!
Update #1: Mrs. O wears a black georgette tiered ruffle gown by Thakoon. If only there were full-length photos!
Update #2: Eddie Gehman Kohan, the editor at Obama Foodorama, has shared a bit of fabulous perspective on the evening. At the White House music preview event yesterday, Mrs. O relayed that she intended to wear white for the evening. The first lady told the audience: "Tonight we're having a big Ball, and everyone gets dressed up and I'm wearing white, just so you know." There seems to have been a change of wardrobe plans before the event!
Additionally, Ms. Gehman Kohan offered insight as to why there are so few photographs from last evening. In a change from the year prior, there was no formal ceremonial arrival for the governors and their spouses. Press wasn't allowed to photograph arrivals, and just a small group of photographers were allowed inside the State Dining Room after guests were seated.

Great hair and awesome makeup. Love the light lip and the dark eyes. To me this style has a retro vibe that's really cool. It looks like a soft and modern version of Diana Ross's look during her Supremes days.

I was JUST coming to share this photo. Good gracious, Mrs. O is killin' us! I just got my hair cut similar to Mrs. O's I may have to go back and have them cut a few more inches to give me more of a bob.
Anyway, the dress looks interesting, with the rough edges. Can't wait to see the entire dress.

Can you believe that this is Our First Lady? How fortunate for us! She looks radiant tonight. There seems to be some shirring or unfinished detailing on the ruffle at the neckline. Both her hair and make-up is simply flawless. I cannot wit until we see more pictures, which hopefully, will be soon.
She's "That Chick"! I swear Mrs. O is outrageously stylish and classy. Can you imagine this picture in black and white thirty years from now? I love seeing Jackie O pics and this reminds me of the photos of Jackie O. You know its something otherwordly, not a time and place that Rhianna, Beyonce and Lady Gaga lives in. LOL!
Oh my, how lovely, but the suspense of waiting to see the entire dress is killing me. When I saw the wispy, feathery, things peeking off her shoulders, it was reminiscent of the Jason Wu(?)creation she wore to the Congressional Black Caucus event last year. Too little detail to speculate ....so please post soon Mrs. T....so I can exhale!

Love her gown I just saw it she looked great but I like the other gown she wear for the peace prize the mr Obama got that was a buiyful dress and her last gown she wear last year when they had the ball was also buityful.

Mrs.O's high - drama eyes are so mesmerizing it's almost as if she can put you under a spell...The confidence we see in them is one that says; I am here, I have a mission to accomplish with my husband and you'll just have to deal with ALL of my gorgeousness - like it or not.

To answer your questions ... Reuters photos are actually more expensive, but not by much. Getty usually has a larger selection, which is why I most often turn to them... But I always check both sites before purchasing.
In terms of lipstick, Mrs. O's make-up artist said in an interview last year that she uses It Cosmetics Pencils Dual Ended for Lip in Attract and Energy, as well as Paula Dorf Color Sheer lipstick in Innocence. Hope that helps!
Stunning in every way! I'm so glad she cut her hair. She looks so youthful and full of energy. Flawless make-up - I'm loving the smoky eye and the lighter touch on the eyebrow - brilliant. Who wouldn't love an appointment with her make-up artist!

I love how she has so many looks. Usually women in politics have one signature look and rarely do anything different. Michelle is so much fun to watch.
This woman is a wonder and a triumph--in all senses of the words. I used think I was "in love" with Barack, but maybe I was wrong; I think it may be Michelle!
