Dance, Dance, Dance!

The president and first lady started their Sunday with a celebration of Diwali at the Holy Name High School in Mumbai, India. There, Mrs. O, wearing a black and white dress, hot pink cardigan, and an embellished necklace by Erickson Beamon (available here, thanks reader Bibi!), got in on the action, dancing with local children. This is becoming the trip of dance, and it's fabulous!
P.S. Even better in video!
Update (11/27): Hats off to reader pbw, who helped to identify this suit as Nina Ricci, from the Spring 2011 collection, seen here.

:-) Love this woman! Such a warm presence! If I am anything like her at that age, I will be more than happy. Such a great role model!
Lovely photos! Thanks, Mrs.T!
Lots of dresses/skirts with this kind of pattern in black&white and other colors on the racks this fall.
Pretty and chic. Here's the necklace : http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/98919
There is a lovely video here - http://video.corriere.it/ballo-indiano-obama-michelle-/7a42ebdc-ea72-11df-acba-00144f02aabc
I love these photos! Everybody looks beautiful.
Mrs. T, I'm just a daily "lurker" who enjoys the blog, but never comments. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your work. I hope you continue with the blog. There are many of us silent "lurkers" who feel the same way.
Love the pink cardigan. Designer please?
I'm de-lurking to send a huge thanks to Mrs. T.--it's so exciting to dial up the site on the weekend and see updates, and from such a colorful trip! Thanks for keeping us in the loop! I'm an enormous admirer of Mrs. O., and whenever I see photos of her in action, I think that all of the future First Ladies have a very, very tough act to follow. I don't think anyone can hold a candle to her in terms of style, accessibility, warmth, and commitment.
This is really a trip with a delightful array of outfits. Thanks for the virtual vacation! :)
These images are simply fabulous! The Obamas have given us a double Diwali just being themselves! Love, love the images of Michelle playing hop scotch, dancing and playing the tambourine!
She looks even lovelier in the videos and certainly has much better rhythm than her handsome husband.
Looking at this video really made me smile. Michelle Obama is just plain FAB!!
LMBO! They should know better than to ask my president to dance. Its widely known that he has two left feet. LOL! Nice video!
She's so like the late Princess Diana!
She is "some kind of wonderful",as the late, great Marvin Gaye would say! This FLOTUS is the FLOTUS of all time. It's hard to tell which our President is enjoying more. Is it the children dancing, or is it his lovely wife dancing? He always seems so delighted to see her enjoying herself. Just lovely!
Mrs. O is so much fun!!!
This is why we love herrrr! Classy. Authentic. And ORIGINAL!
I'm so glad Mrs. O. is NOT the cookie-cutter-two strands of pearls-red lipstick- 2-piece-blue (or red) polyester business suit First Lady, of yesteryears and -decades.
P.S. Now try to imagine previous FLs dancing with those children, e.g., Barbara Bush. "Shudder! Shreik!!!"
I just saw the video on this relic of a desktop and I must say that it was worth the wait. Really cute! Thanks Mrs. T for the link, great job if I must say so myself!
Okay, I just have to say, it's wonderful to have a First Lady who has rhythm, who can really dance and is just plain hip! I'm so thrilled to see someone of my generation in the White House. I just love it.
How amazing is Michelle Obama.. she stole India's heart apparently.
Life affirming stuff. Wherever Michelle goes she seems to de-stuffy the atmosphere and make things alive, fun, real. I can't imagine ANY previous First Lady or Prime Minister's wife getting involved with children like this, getting up, laughing with real heart, dancing, giggling, getting that it doesn't matter if you don't look like a stuffed shirt all the time, that it's OK to be yourself. I only know of one other royal that does it. I hope that this particular legacy affects ALL politicians everywhere, and their wives, for decades and decades and decades to come. I am sick to the back teeth of politicians trying to look statesmanlike and making their wives do the same. They just end up looking like something out of a waxwork museum. Embalmed. No character, no soul. These two? Bringing all that life and love to everything they do, are awesome.
AND they look great doing it.
There is a song from another generation (sung by Frank Sinatra) called "Young at Heart" which the Obamas, especially Michelle, embody. Here are the lyrics, see if you agree:
Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you
If you're young at heart.
For it's hard, you will find, to be narrow of mind
If you're young at heart.
You can go to extremes with impossible schemes.
You can laugh when your dreams fall apart at the seams.
And life gets more exciting with each passing day.
And love is either in your heart, or on it's way.
Don't you know that it's worth every treasure on earth
To be young at heart.
For as rich as you are, it's much better by far
To be young at heart.
And if you should survive to 105,
Look at all you'll derive out of being alive!
And here is the best part, you have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart.

simply ravishing. the rhythm and ease in which she can relate to others is wonderful!
It's always wonderful to see the POTUS and FLOTUS interact with children.
I was confirmed when I saw a comment about her being so much like the Late Princess Diana! I have thought so all along. Her tall frame - she carries her height with grace - Her passion for life - Her sense of style/fashion - Her just being able to be "Simply Michelle" despite the pressure of her role. How her face lights up at seeing her children. The list could go on and on..... She is a wonderful inspiration. A truly wonderful woman, wife and most of all ... MOM!!
The video brought tears to my eyes, what a great image! This First Lady reminds us to enjoy the simple things; dancing, playing hopscotch, and the notion that being around youth will keep you young at heart. First Lady, keep making us proud!!
The video brought tears to my eyes, what a great image! This first lady reminds us to enjoy the simple things; dancing, playing hopscotch, spending time with family and friends. No cost activities with a great return. First Lady, keep making us proud!!
This looks like it is part of the ensemble she was wearing getting off the helicopter in the previous post...minus the matching jacket, of course.
I'm imagining it is of a lighter material than it looks, if she is wearing it in such a hot climate.
So beautiful and funny... Mr Pres is challenged in the rhythm department... and like you tanisha.. brought tears to my eyes to see how they interact with people.. so what we should all do :))) embrace each other and our cultures and differences.. :)))
It's Nina Ricci! Took me awhile to recognize it, but it's from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Later on that day, she wore the full suit, but here opted for a pink cardigan. The Nina Ricci designer Peter Copping is really a great match for Mrs. O, bravo!
