Serving in Style

Photo by Alex Grimm / Getty Images

Traveling back to the United States, First Lady Mrs. O made a special stop at Ramstein Airbase in Ramstein, Germany today to speak with military personnel and their relatives on this Veterans Day. In addition to her pretty fall floral cardigan, Mrs. O donned an apron to serve dinner to the military staff. A quick survey of the past few days certainly speaks to the breadth of the first lady's roles and responsibilities, not to mention her diverse wardrobe!

Update: Mrs. O wears a Rose-print cashmere cardigan from Talbots, available here. Thank you to the various commenters who spotted this!

These pictures, in my opinion, show a very relaxed Michelle Obama. Although I'm not into flower patterns, she wears them well.

I thank her for keeping her word to our troops and their families. And, I love the fact that she is dressed in affordable clothes.

This may not be the format for what I am about to say; but --- GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!

I like how the low scoop neckline of her shirt paired with the partially opened cardigan and 3/4 length sleeves looks on her. Very pretty autumn color palette. It's such a relief to see her looking like this after the yellow-green nightmare! So nice that she's serving the troops. God bless our veterans!

So proud of her for taking the time out to visit the troops and show them a personal face of the administration.

Talbots really designs/makes some great ladylike and modern clothing. She looks Fabulous, and I hope the military personnel and their families were encouraged by her visit.

I absolutely love this lady... really I do. And the reason why is because she represents what so many of us are: loving wives and mothers; hard working career women; giving and kind to others and not least of all.. fashionable!! So no matter what she wears, whether I think it's a hit or a miss (the latter of which happens very infrequently in my opinion), she is truly just 'Every Woman' as Whitney Houston once sang, and for that, I salute you Madame Michelle!!

Very nice she took the time to see the US troops abroad though she must be impatient to go home and see her daughters. Ramstein is the US Air Force Headquarters Europe. Americans have been here for some fifty years.
Pretty colors for fall, versatile cardigan that can be combined with a lot of things.

I love to see Mrs. O is knowledgable about food sanitation practices! It is great that she made a stop at Ramstein.

Nice colors in the sweater, and nice classic pairing with a slim skirt.

I am wearing the exact same sweater today! Heart Talbots!!

Actually, I think she is wearing pants, not a skirt.

I went to the link provided by ari2 (thanks!) and saw another story titled "First Lady Under Fire." I went to it and read about the ginned up controversy the Republicans and their propaganda-spewing mouthpieces are polluting the public with concerning part of her "Let's Move!" campaign.

It is disingenuous criticism like what was reported at that link that really puts me off of the Republican party as a whole. I think our country would run much better without this party in existence. What really amazes me is that our Michelle moves forward doing what is good and right in spite of the GOP's baseless attacks and hateful lies. And she does it while looking fabulous!

I love this cardigan and Talbots. I just bought this item last week and thought, "Gee, Michele would look great in this!" It looks great with brown or bronze. I am so happy when she wears clothes from shops that are Main Street USA and not high brow. I love cardigans. To me, they are the greatest of all sweater styles. I must applaude her good taste and how beautiful she looks serving.
Much more herself than recent photo.

Lovely! She looks happy and relaxed. I'm sure the troops were thrilled to have her visit.

Thanks for all the photo's Mrs. T! Yes, I agree...Mrs. O has many roles and hats to wear. It must be exhausting at times.

She is so charm and sweet! I just love this woman! :)

That cardi is simply divine. But just look at that steak ? - Yummy !!

@ Crystal - my sentiments entirely. Her clothes are so insignificant when you see such heartwarming pictures of a first lady that not only talks the talk but walks the walk as well. Regardless of that soldier's political affiliation, I am sure he will treasure that picture forever.

Mrs O. looks great here...very pretty and feminine. You can't go wrong with a dark pencil skirt paired with a beautiful sweater.

Mrs. O is more than a FLOTUS. She's TB-FLOTUSE (The Best FLOTUS Ever). Love the cardigan, love the photo, love this first couple. She is so relaxed and personable and she seems to be able to handle any occasion with total grace and dignity. When is our country going to really wake up and realize what they've got in these people?
