Happy Birthday Mrs. O

Image by Yuri Gripas / Reuters

Today marks the 46th birthday of First Lady Mrs. O. Mrs. O has been treated with a few celebrations over the past few days, first with White House staffers on Friday, and last evening, with the president and a group of Chicago friends. Last evening the group spent more than four hours at Nora in Washington, D.C.. Lynn Sweet has the full scoop, here. Mrs. O chose a black dress for the fete, topped by a black coat embellished with gold lattice detailing.

Update: A gold star for reader Kathryn, who reports that Mrs. O's coat is Narciso Rodriguez, as seen here.

Below, White House staff closed the week by honoring the First Lady's birthday on Friday. The first lady wore a watercolor print, ruffled blouse for the occasion.

We had dinner at Nora last month in the same room where the Os and their friends ate. Nora is a wonderful restaurant that has been a leader in the Washington food scene for years. I'm sure it was a lovely meal.

IF ON THE DAY YOU WERE BORN BEGAN WITH A SPECIAL PURPOSE,
IT MUST HAVE BEEN THAT SOMEDAY YOU WOULD BE THE MOST INCREDIBLE
FIRST LADY "I'VE KNOWN".

Your Birthday closes yet another chapter in your life, but the book remains
open, as you start to write so many many wonderful moments.
"Cheerfulness and content are great beautifiers, and are famous preservers
of youthful looks." (Charles Dickens)..........So true, here's to looking at "you" Mrs. Obama.
Nora's seem like such a cozy restaurant for POTUS & FLOTUS to have a
private evening.

Hope yu had a memorable birthday. best

Happy Birthday to the most spectacular FLOTUS to date....we love you unabashedly.

I'm in awe of this coat, the top half is different from the bottom. Good to see a coat with interesting detail, wonder if that's boucle wool or not. She seems to have hit her stride and I enjoy watching her and wondering what she'll wear next. So from one Capricorn to the next, CHEERS TO OUR DEAR MICHELLE.

Oh, by the way, her handsome date was his usual dapper self! We love them!

Thanks, Nyon, for that link to the sweet birthday tribute.

Here's another account of the night. Funny, Washington Post reporter Mary Ann Akers just happened to be eating there, too. And, the first comment is from someone who joined the serenade.

Ms.M - On a personal note. This is ironic. I started making notes of a comment yu made, that is
similiar to situations I had to deal with in my life, and my 90 yr old mentor said to me, "let that go,
they're not on your equal level of thinking". This, saved me so many times.
Love what yu said, "when a person was trying to 'vex my soul' etc. - "I knew that I had to
control.........standards". Just wana say Great lesson to learn in life. I was saving this comment
for another photo.

P.S. I would have written this in the Chat group section top right side of page, but didnt want
you to miss comment.
