Mrs. O in People

The first lady is featured in this week's issue of People magazine, wearing a Michael Kors Pre-Fall 2010 red rose print stretch cade shift dress. A peek of the dress can also be seen here. Fingers crossed the story and photos will be available online. Has anyone seen it yet?

Update: Though the story is not yet online, Jezebel.com has a good overview here. Thank you Britt, for the tip.

There is a story in the current New Yorker (Jan 18) on the Mullavey sisters, who are Rodarte. A rather snarky piece mentions that Michelle O has worn Rodarte on two occasions (these happen to be two of her best looks from the past year IMHO): the "demure taupe linen dress" she wore to receive Queen Rania at the WH, and the "poufy orange lame frock" seen in Copenhagen. Which I remember as a satin charmeuse dress in a gorgeous shade of amber/honey. Very interesting piece though.

Oh.My.Lord. I have never seen a cuter photo of these two. *Swoon* . The President is in just complete adoration of her and isn't afraid to show it while Mrs.O is just drinking it all up. How lovely!

Love the hair cut! I can't stop thinking about it!
Must resist cutting my hair!

Loved loved the pic with the article. Interesting interview with some great questions, had quite some eye openers. They seemed relaxed and less guarded with their answers. Read the article in the Wash post as well to see if I would learn anything new. Didn't know Sasha and Malia met the Pope.

Mrs. O wears red like no other.

I must be in the minority but I prefer her hair when she wore it down and long. It flattered her face better.

She looks wonderful in red. Love the hair. Love how she keeps it fresh and changes up her look.

THE PRINCE AND HIS QUEEN

I'm sorry, but I'm chuckling to myself thinking how made up they both look, and of how much this photo looks like the cover of a romance magazine (which by the way is very cute)! The headline could almost be mistaken to mean "Our First Year of Marriage" rather than their first year as President & First Lady. Their love is tried, tested and true.

@Mrs.A I'm with you on the longer hair - I liked the length it was the night he won the elections and gave his victory speech.

And, just so I don't miss this issue on the news stands, can anyone tell me who's on the cover?

Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 8:38 PM | Registered CommenterRocky

@ Rocky
Good to know I am not alone on the hair.
The People edition has Heidi Montag on the cover talking about how much plastic surgery she has had. I thought it had the Obamas on the cover but that is not the case. The Obamas are on the top right corner. See the image here:

Oh, the look of love, indeed! What I like is this sets a fine example of their daughters, seeing Dad truly in love with Mom. When Malia and Sasha grow up and get husbands of their own, they aren't likely to select anything less than this. They will be so accustomed to seeing how well a man is SUPPOSED to treat a woman that anything less will be non-negotiable. What a fine example for all, young and old.

OUR FIRST YEAR, WOW,
How fitting. First year - first date look, courtship days. Yu know... when
he joined the legal company where they worked together. I tell yu.
They emphasize the fact that, we must never loose site of this lovey
dovey moment in a marriage or a relationship.

LOVE LIFTS US UP WHERE WE BELONG, regardless of how much stress
and pressure we face, glow, shine love each other, think of the first dates
and the excitement there was - DON'T loose sight of that. We thank
POTUS AND FLOTUS, for re-inforcing the importance of the beautiful
moments we should share. Stereotypes are broken now, I hope.

Mrs. O's glowing skin, love her red dress, pearl necklace stands out.
Notice background gives a down-to-earth feeling, Yes he's the President
but our Mrs. O has him leaning towards her as if she knows how to win his
heart. (she did - smile). I will add this magazine to my collection. I'm gung ho
about magazines with my favourite couple. LOVE THIS MOMENT - LOVE LOVE IT.
So glad I have the opportunity to see these lovely pictures. Thanks again Mr. T.

OMG I just love this couple, they are the breath of fresh air that America and the world needs right now.

When they can project and live a life that says "LOVE IS ALIVE AD WELL", it speaks to young and

old alike that love will be tested, tried, and if it is real; It will be proven true.

Love the red dress, Red is SO her color. Mr. President and First Lady you have truly made us proud.

This couple is truly a tough act to follow.

The look of love is in BOTH of their eyes! This is such a heartwarming and fun picture. I love the sort of mischevious look on the president's face. Sly dog!

They really know how to enjoy each other. I'm just always in awe of each of them and as a couple. Amazing.

Mrs. O looked really lovely in her address to the Labor Department today. I've been secretly hoping she would cut her hair like this so I love her new look. And I think she does, too! She wore a black turtleneck top with elbow length sleeves with a full skirt that looks like another Alaia creation. Very cool look.

I wish people magazine had put the Obama's on the cover instead of that heidi girl. I mean really I am so tired of these attention seekers. She is 23 years old and bragging about having plastic surgery. I mean really People magazine. I want to buy it because of the Obama's but I don't because I don't want to support that non sense. I think I will just view online. I wish I could express my dissatisfaction to People magazine.

Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 1:53 PM | Unregistered CommenterNicole

@Nicole

I totally agree with you. The OBAMAS should have been on the cover.

Heidi's plastic parts don't need any more attention, that is what Spencer is for.

This picture of the President and his lady is gorgeous.

Thanks, Ruth for providing the link to the article. I keep thinking, I can't love these people anymore, but then I read the article and I'm like, Oh, I guess I can love them even more. I need to see those pics in the article for real, but from what I could see they look lovely.

This pic of them is definitely TOO CUTE for words. Love the dress Mrs. O is wearing and the Pres is looking like the handsome adoring husband he is.

LOL @IVA for the "sly dog" comment.

I am really loving Mrs. O new haircut. I saw the pics from today on yahoo and I think it is very flattering and even making her look more youthful (if thats even possible)or maybe hipper is a better word. She looked cute today. Here is a pic:

Mischief indeed- you can say that again. .He seems to be such a sweet guy. We are blessed that Michelle allowed us to share him with her and their lovely girls by encouraging him to run for the presidency .By so doing she is sharing herself with us as well. Very sweet and unselfish . I just love them both. May God continue to bless and prosper their work and bring into fruition all their good intentions for humanity.

Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 3:07 PM | Unregistered CommenterAlma

Absolutely gorgeous, but I don't know that I would buy a magazine with Heidi Montag on the cover. I wish I could just buy pull-outs of the pages with the Obama's.

This was such a terrible cover choice by People Magazine and makes absolutely no sense.

I have to agree I love her hair longer or pulled up, but she still looks very nice. She carries herself with such grace and elegant, but still there is this friendly, warm vibe about her.
If there is anyone who feels the same about the cover of the People Magazine and have a way to give feedback to People Magazine, please do!
Mrs. T, thanks so much for this website.

Have to disagree with this...."Our President and First Lady set an example for all couples to follow"

I have a growing concern that this President (more likely his staff) is turning the Presidency into a 'celebrity' thing. Based on the above picture - this just doesn't have the dignity befitting the Office of the Presidency.

Get angry with me if you want to - this is how I feel.

Friday, January 15, 2010 at 10:44 AM | Unregistered CommenterJane

Love. An expression of Love hammers the dignity of the highest office in the land? Ludicrous!

Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterMcKinley

@ Jane I am not mad at your comment because you are entittled to your opinion. My opinion is that I find it refreshing to see images of my President being so loving and caring with his wife. Their not stiff and there is no sense of 2 people being more friends or political allies vs. husband and wife. I think it is a very good image for alot of young women and men to see, especially in my community.
I love it!

Friday, January 15, 2010 at 6:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterNicole

Great picture...I think their marriage is a great example to others....but People magazine??? Really??? Isn't that a tabloid. I think they shouldn't have done it for that magazine.

@Jane. I am not going to "get angry" at you. But I am going to just comment on what you said. I find it sad that you think that pictures of the First Couple expressing love and affection takes down the dignity of the Presidency. Love is the best thing for our troubled country. Love and compassion and the simple act of touching another human being is what keeps is human and in touch with humanity. If we simply would reach out to others with simple acts of love and affection there would be so much less anger and hatred and bias. The love that this couple shows to each other for the whole world to witness is a shining example of how we should be living our lives: with purpose, compassion, tenderness and warmth.

I must say that I am not American and not usually a 'celebrity' follower, but I love your First Lady - and her husband... She looks good, wears clothes well and seems to enjoy her life, her family and fashion. To boot, she's intelligent and nice. What's not to admire?
