Happy Labor Day!

Image by Saul Loeb / Getty Images
The Os spent much of this Labor Day weekend away at Camp David, returning home to the White House late yesterday afternoon. First Lady Mrs. O kept her look classic chic with a simple black sundress and sunglasses, and her haired pulled into a sporty ponytail. Is it just us, or have there been quite a few little black sundresses in Mrs. O's wardrobe as of late?
Hope everyone had a wonderful and restful long holiday weekend! (Our internet was down for 24 hours, so apologies to those whose comments were stuck in the queue.)

It's begun to feel like a cliche to say "What a beautiful family!" since every photo only evokes that response all over again! But I have to say it: What a beautiful family! Such love and affection as this just can't be posed: the three of them close together, all touching, laughing, and completely at ease with one another. The love here is genuine and palpable!
I think Malia has grown a foot since her father took office. They're both beautiful girls.
how blessed we are, with this family.
Agreed, Barb! I think the same thing with each new picture!

I thought the same thing when I saw this photo of the First Family......everything abput them seems so genuine, the closeness, the laughter, the affection and the fact that they enjoy being together. I've never seen any other "First Family" like them for a long while.
May THE OBAMAS keep their love STRONG.May God Bless them always.
abput is translated= about Lol
Absolutely spot on BarbG! Must add that the chemistry/attraction between the President and first lady is so intense...you can almost taste it...That woman does it for him...it's so evident!
She does look sizzling hot even while effortlessly dressed down. I love it!
I want that dress...who's it by, anybody know?
Hope you had a restful, peaceful labor day weekend too, Mrs T!

Mrs.O is guilty of:
1. Looking so cute in these shades and this ponytail and
2. Proving that you can be sexy without showing a lot of skin!
That v-neckline is daring and discreet at the same time. Wow...I'm jealous. Jealous that they look so happy together and jealous of their obvious love for one another. This is the REAL thing here guys! And Sasha is so comfortable and secure in herself doing her own thing.
Looking at this family in this photo gives me hope that with some love, affection and hard work I too can achieve this in my own family.
Cheers!
I swear Michelle Obama is living my life. LOL! I looooove this family! Obama 2012!
She looks great...as does Miss Sasha with her pink bag that she never goes traveling without (adorable child!) and Malia looking happy and secure in her parents embrace. How wonderful.
This is the first First Family that has had this much exposure, which is probably why we think it's rare that a family "in office" loves each other so much. We just didn't see as many visual images of the ones who occupied the White house before. In this day and age it makes headlines if somebody sneezes!
Just saying, put it all in perspective. This is a whole new era as far as media exposure. I have always prefered candid shots over staged and posed ones so I love a lot of the pics that are posted daily.
LOVE HER BLACKSUNDRESS NOT TO SHORT OR LONG LOVE HER FLAT SHOES I GUESS SHE GOT THE POINT NOT WEARRING HER OTHER BLACK SANDLES THAT MANEY OF HER FANS IN HERE HATES BUT NOT ME I JUST GOT THE ONE PAIRS AND IT DIDNT COST ME THAT MURCH AM SURE SHE GOT HERS FULL PRICE.
Mrs. O look positively stunning. Those sandals are amazing.
I think this wonderful family screams FAMILY VALUES. Notice how christians aren't using the term family values very much any more. I wonder why.
@Mrs N, if the President is not christian then is the pastor who wants FLOTUS to be a widow and her children to be orphans, christian? This same pastor wanted POTUS to die of a brain tumor like Ted Kennedy, do you think that this is a christian value; he doesn't want him killed because says he, "we don't need another holiday." Yes, I listened to the entire sermon on his website and he uses the bible to justify his position and this pastor is against abortion, eh, pro-life. And since when does a picture of someone going to church mean that they are christian; by the way, there are several pictures of the Obamas going to church. Perhaps they keep it private because they do not believe in a "form of godliness but denying the power there of"
I'm so happy they had some time to get away together. They look like they enjoyed their time away from Washington.
Ditto to all the comments on this beautiful family. Love them.
Let us praise Mr. Obama's mother, Ann, and his grandmother, who raised him to love women!! Too bad more American mothers don't accomplish that.
I keep wondering how tall the older daugher is. Can't remember if the older one is Sasha or Malia. Anyway, Mrs. O is already about 5'10" so I'd guess the older daughter has to be about 5'5" tall already. She's going to be another long, tall glass of water as she matures.
Yup, ditto from here too. That was my first thought!!!!
Hello everyone, it is Labor Day! Have a nice day!!
Michelle Obama fitness piece on the Today show! Great footage!
@Bevi--thanks for the update on the Today show piece. It was very good and has given me a reminder to step it up more in the fitness arena.
I've been wondering what Mrs. O might wear on Wednesday night for the Congress speech. I've been hoping she'll bare her arms again---symbol of confidence, beauty, strength and power! Get the crazy folks all riled up again which is too hilarious to me. Or she might recycle, but I'm sure she'll look beautiful.
Article in the Times Online as well, but I think that's a crib of the fitness interviews given elsewhere. Very good though and yes, makes me edge towards the lettuce leaves and the healthy soup rather than the sticky toffee pudding 9 times out of 10.
No recent photos of Mrs. Robinson. Did she go to Martha's Vineyard or on the national parks tour?
@Michlle
She has on here black sandals that yall hate!!!
lol Mia.
I kinda like those sandals and they compliment her legs beautifully. Go Mrs. O!
They are quite a beautiful family. God bless and protect our first family.
Anyone knowwho makes the dress? I love it!
I want to note a profound observation regarding this photo.
I am impressed by the love, attention and affection that President Obama shows on a consistent basis to his wife and his daughters. As I looked at this photo, he seems to be fully engaged. I believe that his open display of affection to his wife before his children will educate them as to the type of men they will, if they choose, have in their lives as husbands. What a wonderful example of fatherhood - being the provider and protector! There are many men out there like him but that is not shown on TV or in print. He is openly casting down the stereotypes about African-American men. There are a lot of African-American families just like this but the negative is all that is seen. This mindset must change. I hope that others take time to get to know the African-American families in their neighborhoods that they pass by daily and don't acknowledge. I am an African-American single mother (through abandonment and divorce) and I didn't get this kind of attention from my dad. He never told me that he loved me. I didn't say that for pity. Just to make a point. I have found a greater love from my relationship with God now. His approval is what I seek. So ladies, talk with the men in your lives and encourage them to speak life to you and to the other females in your families. YOU BE THE CHANGE THAT YOU SEEK! By no means is President Obama perfect. None of us are. He is making the consistent effort to make a difference in a very real and tangible way. I just had to say that. I love this website and I come for ideas all the time. Great job to the creator and keep up the good work.
You all are such a supportive group! I love to look in from time to time to see the fashion/designer/details and I'm so impressed with everyone's knowledge of the trade--but I'm more impressed with your openness to one another and with your out-pouring of love for the First Family.
I'm always touched by how Barack is able to tease and kid his ladies and win them over or get a "huh-uh!" out of them. My kids' dad was like that and it was annoying and charming! (The speaking gesture of forefinger and thumb pressed together was identical, as well!)
Is this the first picture we've seen of Sasha on her own? Leading the pack? She's growing up!
I was so glad, weren't you? that the camera lingered on Michelle before the speech? So composed and committed and ready to support and lead. I loved that.
This family is a shining example of what America can become. Think of how they respond to others, handle criticism, adversity, challenges. With calm, cool, level-headedness. They are quick to forgive, think the best of folks, and always willing to extend a hand of help and friendship. They are a living example of true Christian Family Values!!! Are they perfect? Of course not, no one is, but they live out their beliefs, that you reap what you sow. If anyone want to see what TRUE Christian Family Values looks like in action, just look to our First Family. May God continue to bless, keep, and watch over them. I encourage everyone on this site to pray for them everyday, they really need our daily support.
Great mother above takes bog family to the top! Good job Mrs America. I love bag the kids have, is it a
Coach Purses?
I saw another photo of this dress somewhere and recognized it immediately!
It's from White House/Black Market. I bought it around this time last year in one of their stores. It's probably not around anymore. I think it was even on sale. (Btw, she is so tall! On me that dress is below the knee.)
OK, now I'm going to have a little freak out that I actually own the same dress as the First Lady!
I thought this dress was JCrew. I saw it on their site for afinal sale at only $29.99 from about $149. But I found other more compelling (I knew they would look nice on my body frame) pieces and bough those instead. I wasn't sure mine would fit the same as Mrs. O's. So as much as I coveted this dress, I finally did without.I I went back on second thoughts to consider still getting it. It's sold out now anyway.
