Mrs. O Spring 2010

Now that New York Fashion Week has come and gone, we wanted to share the latest work from Mrs. O's favorite designers. We're almost certain to see at least a few of these looks in the coming months. Any favorites?

Mrs O looked amazing at the UN! This appears to be a version of the yellow skirt suit she wore months ago.

Oh my gosh, Narciso Rodriguez takes me breath away! Gorgeous collection!!
I'm so glad you did this, Mrs. T! There was a slideshow yesterday on another website (I think it was Daily Beast) that purported to show how Mrs. O had influenced the NY designers. If you consider a sleeveless, silk dress in orchid - same color as the Mizrahi dress and coat MO wore at the Met Museum - or a long, narrow dress with a black skirt and a one-shoulder white bodice - as was her all white, full skirted inaugural gown - to be a examples of her "influence," you will be happy. I don't, and I wasn't. I think the other website may have a less sophisticated audience than Mrs. O.org does. We can spot subtle influences; we don't need to be hit over the head with made up comparisons. (Grrr!)
I was on Style.com a lot during Fashion Week, viewing the slideshows of all the designers Mrs. T posted, and others as well. There were many examples of what I'd call mutual influence. It's impossible to tease apart who inspired whom (that's for you, Posh!), but it's clear that Mrs. O is a modern day icon who is not only being watched, but watching as well.
Unsolicited advice: watch the videos Mrs. T has posted here (which are great) and if you want more, go to Style.com for lots more. We're amateur experts here on Mrs.O.org - we can find our own influences.
Great collections.
ugh anything Jason Wu puts on the runway I love I'm fihting that must have feeling
You know the funny thing about most of these beautiful designer collections is that for the majority of the clothes I can't imagine Mrs.O wearing them. But then she and Ikram work it out some way where they make it wearable and First Lady appropriate. It truly is a testament to Ikram's great eye and ability to make high fashion accessible.
There is a very pretty look at the beginning of the Thakoon show where there are wings of printed fabric at the top and at the hip. I could see her wearing that. I also like the floral tunics over skinny pants. That looks like a good at-home look or even a casual date. I am not normally a print girl, but Mrs. O wears them very well.
Maria Pinto was also showing at Fashion Week - no love for her???
