Vineyard Bound

Reports of the Os late August trip to Martha's Vineyard have begun to surface, as multiple sources confirm that the first family will stay at Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark. We hope the Os enjoy some well deserved R&R!

The Martha's Vineyard Gazette has more on the visit and island preparations, here.

Mrs.T,
That photo you posted doesn't look like the photos that Huffington Post posted.
Perhaps the photo you posted was of one of the smaller guest houses on the property?
Here are the photos that I am referring to on the link below:

Mrs. T,

The info on the photo that you posted says:
Private escape with strong views and over 100 yards of frontage on the Great Pond in West Tisbury. Exceptional 5 bedroom, 5 bath high quality constructed home on 5 spacious acres of woods and pasture with a clear view of the pond, abutting agricultural restricted land and Blue Heron Farm. Prestigious neighborhood with great privacy.

SO THAT IS THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR TO WHERE THE OBAMA'S WILL BE STAYING ;)

such a 360 degree turn of attitude. when campaining, Michelle Obama wanted everyone to believe that they were just like us ordinary citizens ("we are paying off our tution loans etc.etc.").
Now, she is living a life of lavishness as if there is no tomorrow..(sneakers, purse, vacations).

@ yvonne - During the campaign Mrs. O said they had just "recently paid off" their student loans. It makes sense because POTUS had received nice royalties from his book sales. As far as your "ordinary citizens" comment, I believe these two people are as ordinarily extraordinary as they come. Neither were born with a silver spoon in their mouths and understand what it means to work hard and sacrifice to make it in this world. I respect them for coming from such humble beginnings and reaching for the stars.

And, remember, Mrs. O pays for her own clothes. Noone should judge how the Obamas spend their money. As far as vacations go, George W seemed to be on one 24/7.

@YVONNE

SHe has every damn right too. ITs her MONEY not yours, you sound like a republican tool. If you really think that the President, and First Lady who has the MOST DEATH THREATS than any other president are supposed to live poor you are loosing your mind. Secret Service looked at over 20 homes before deciding on this one. I am sooooooooooooo happy that the PResident and first lady ARE not changing for NO ONE. What you see is what you get. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Continue to live it up first family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ALl the double standards on the President Obama is laughable. Laura BUsh wore those ugly oscar de la renta expensive dresses and aint no one said nothing.

Yvonne, a 360 degree turn means she is right back where she started! LOL! You are being silly. She is the First Lady. Do you expect her to stay at a Motel 6? WhatEVER!

What a lovely location. I wish I could go with them. I'm sure the girls will have a great time.

Well said Avo

I can careless how much she spends on vacation & clothes as long as it's her own money!! Who are we to judge?

A "360 degree turn of attitude" is a full circle.

Leah D, It's hard to say. Several other news sources have suggested it's the house above.

Everyone is probably right, but this is not the main house at Blue Heron Farm.

A Martha's Vineyard realtor has the master lease on the entire property for the summer. They undoubtedly have advertising material (and photos) of each of the individual houses in the compound. This appears to be one of those. The main house is the one at HuffPost.

The Obamas are reported to be paying the rental for the main house. The federal government is paying the rent for the other buildings.

FLOTUS will be out tomorrow for the reception of Justice Sotomayor and later to host the Medal of Freedom ceremony. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Appears to me that Yvonne is jealous. My take is that Michelle has earned every good thing that has come to her.

Mrs. T,
This posting of a vacation home as well as the previous posting of the Betsy Ross house in Philadelphia are perfect illustrations of the decline in the content of this site since its revamping. This site was originally started as a tool to follow the fashion of Mrs. O of all of her public appearances. I particulary enjoyed the research and follow-up postings and comments on the designers, materials, etc. of specific items worn. I thoroughly enjoyed that content and I visited the site regularly, on a daily basis. Since the "revamping", I have seen a garden bus, houses, and numerous other objects unrelated to fashion. Additionally, the comments have strayed as well into the realm of the ridiculous. Acknowledging that Mrs. O's public schedule is light at this time would satisfy me much more than filling in with these types of postings. I'm not interested in a lifestyle of Mrs. O website - just give me the day's fashion information and call it a day...

Perspective.

Eli Manning(qb/football) has a contract sitting in front of him that will pay him approximately $1,000,000.00 per game over several years. There are usually 16 or so games in a season.

President Obama earns $400,000 a year salary + royalties. Michelle receives no paycheck.

Eli tosses a ball. The president is juggling wars, recession, healthcare, and uncorked venom from the right.

Think about it.

Private getaway or public scrutiny?

I'm delighted that the Obama's are going to get an opportunity to ditch the White for a week. As far as I'm concerned all the house fittings could be in gold, they deserve it! (Have you seen how gray the President's hair has gotten)?! So, I hope they wake up late every morning, have breakfast in bed, laze around all day and go to bed late at night!

But alas, we all know only too well how the paparazzi will be trampling each other to get the slightest glimpse of them and how the rest of the world will be waiting with baited breath to criticize, condemn, and rail against EVERYTHING they do.

Things that make you go humm...

Correction on my first line, that should be - White House.

Both of today's events will be carried on C-Span: 10:15 for the reception and 3:10 for the awards ceremony. Both Eastern time This is the nice part of Congress being in recession: more events are carried.

Not to beat a dead horse, BUT

1) If you click on the realty links for the house that is pictured above that Mrs. T posted for this thread it says:
"... home on 5 spacious acres of woods and pasture with a clear view of the pond, ABUTTING agricultural restricted land and Blue Heron Farm..."
Overview link: http://rentals.wallacemv.com/site/Overview/PropertyID__36934/11711/default.aspx

ABUTTING means borders on, be adjacent to, 'next to'

2) That house in the photo is on ONLY 5 acres.
The Blue Heron Farm (Obama's rental) is a 10,000-plus-square-foot historic farmhouse that sits on more than 30 acres.

Anyway it looks like the 'neighbors' are getting a lot of free advertising for their house whether they want it or not! LOL :)

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 2:24 PM | Registered CommenterLeah D

Leah D, I've removed the photo of the "neighboring house" to avoid any further confusion. Hopefully that's sufficient!

Ahhh, you should have kept the picture of the pretty house up; it shows the quaintness of the houses on Martha's Vineyard. Thank you for all the updates and variety of information Mrs. T. during the downtime between outfits. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated! I constantly check the website throughout the day for anything new. This site is such a pleasant diversion.
