Weekend Getaway

Earlier today the Os departed for a weekend getaway at Camp David. We love Mrs. O's lavendar sweater set and breezy summer skirt. When we first saw this image, we thought the Os might be bound for Martha's Vineyard. Does anyone know when they officially go?

For those of you who feel the need to leave negative comments that have nothing to do with fashion - there are a number of sites you can visit. Please use them.
@Mrs. N - The job of President is 24/7/365/4. There is no vacation. There is no break. There is only 'away from the office'. This President is known to be a workaholic - chances are that he leaves for 24 hrs. on the weekend because his wife tells him to, or she'll drag him out by the ears to spend time with his children away from the office.
That said, do you work with no breaks, no days off for years on end? Do you think that people who are working at the level of the President and his senior staff should work with no breaks? If so, how do you expect them to keep working at that pace for any length of time without mistakes of judgement?
Finally, I am deeply amused by the stupidity of the American people who decry OBAMA IS SOCIALIST!, and who then also say that he shouldn't have expensive dinners because they don't, his wife shouldn't wear designer clothes because everyone doesn't, they shouldn't vacation on MV because they can't. And on and on and on. So folks, who are really the socialists here? Obama is a self-made man, his wife is a self-made woman, they have money and they spend it. Ain't that the American way?
I see the inmates are out in force tonight.
I love this selective vision that some of you have. Missing all of the relevant points deliberately. i.e. that George W Bush spent a third of his time in office on vacation instead of doing his job. That his daughters regularly used Air Force 1. That the Obama's paid for the redecoration of their private quarters at the White House themselves, even though there's an allowance, because they didn't feel that was right in the current financial environment. That Mr O has been doing his job, plus visiting different states every month, plus attending G8 and D-Day celebrations, plus moving your health service into the 20th century (yes I said 20th), plus opening dialogue with countries traditionally shunned by the US and creating an opportunity for understanding and education of differing cultures all over the world. Man can take a weekend at Camp David in my opinion. Seeing as he works his nuts off for it.
Anyway, Mrs O looks lovely, as does her mother and the girls.
Where is Bo? I just realized last night that this picture of the family heading to Camp David doesn't include him. Doesn't he get to go to Camp David? I would think that would be a great place for him and the family.
And, I am in agreement about the people who have to be so negative. If they don't like Michelle and the President why are they looking at this site, and spinning their wheels complaining? I have to confess I am a little addicted to seeing what Michelle is wearing. I just love her ability to mix the practical and inexpensive with her gorgeous fashion clothes.
To the people who are hating on their trip to Camp David you guys must have been fuming during the Bush administration. Bush was always at Camp David, Crawford, Ranch, or at his family spread in Maine. Barack works Monday through Friday and sometimes until the wee hours of the mourning. He's been doing enough work for the whole entire country. Barack also has 2 little girls (that actually live in the White House unlike the Bush girls who were 19 and in college) and they didn't fall off the face of the Earth just because he was elected President. They are living, breathing humans who would like to spend time with their mother and father (and G-Ma) every once in a while.
How come Bo doesn't get to go to Camp David?
Aw, heck...the first time I decide to venture back to visit my in-laws on MV in August (the last time we went there during August, it took us 7 1/2 hrs to make what is usually a 4.25 hr. trip - traffic is INSANE in late summer!), the Obamas are going to be there at the same time. Sigh...guess I'll get ready for more traffic (and detours, and delays and...waaaah!!!)
I hope we at least run into them somewhere for all the trouble I expect we're going to have getting around (and to and from) the island... :-)
