Mrs. O at the Eiffel Tower

Photo by Miguel Medina /AFP/Getty Images

We love Mrs. O's Parisian-chic look. The first lady wears soft green vest and shirt, paired with a floral scarf as she and the O entourage tour the Eiffel Tour in Paris.

Update: We've learned that Mrs. O is wearing  a Prova scarf and Rick Owens Lilies vest and shirt. Click here to see the pieces in greater detail. Of note, Rick Owens in an American-born designer, who resides in Paris.

For shoes, the first lady is once again wearing her snazzy Lanvin sneakers. For a full-length look at this fabulous ensemble, shoes included, click here.

Continue reading after the jump for a detailed image of a similar style of Prova scarf. The line is carried at Ikram in Chicago. Such excitement!

A few weeks ago someone asked how MO's style had affected our own styles. I've been super aware of this as I brought my pins out of accessories Siberia, bought a few belts, and at least started trying on prints (can't quite pull the trigger on that one yet). And tonight I'm picking my husband up at the airport in a gigantic, fabulous scarf I haven't worn in ages!

Mrs. O looks very trans-atlantic chic. Love the scarf. It dresses up a casual outfit. The girls look too cute. Love that Malia brought her camera along.

Im pretty sure that is not Michelles brother,Craig. He is a lot taller than that man and looks a lot different. I also dont believe that is his wife, she is white but that is not her. But that is his daughter in the back... I looked at some pics from before..... The O's have beautiful girls, Malia is looking older each day but Sasha is still the same cute little girl!

Too cute. I love Michelle's hair, makeup (perfection!), and the scarf -- the colors of purple and teal look great together and look great on her.

My girls!!! I love that the Obama's guard their privacy, but I'll admit I've been aching to see them again since the egg roll/dog debut week. Poised and adorable as always!

And I have a slight confession: I think Michelle's main SS Agent is uber-hot. I love seeing pictures of him by Michelle's side. LOL.

Great pics. Looking forward to more this weekend, but I hope it doesn't intrude on the vacation ambience - i want it to be a relaxing enjoyable treat for all involved.

Could somebody confirm, is the lady in the khaki trench coat w/ jeans Craig Robinson's wife Kelly (and Leslie's step-mom)?

Iva, where did you see the video?

Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterJoane

On tv....a quick shot talking about their vacation. Either CNN or MSNBC. I don't watch that other network.

Joane,
I saw on clip on TV earlier this evening on either FoxNews or MSNBC, one of the two.

@Leah D,

Those are great full-length photos you found of Mrs. O at justjared. She's definitely wearing Lanvin shoes. I love the hair in the photos where her head is turned to the side--very youthful yet stylish. The pants looked chic yet super comfortable. And the scarf and its colors really make that outfit.

The D-Day ceremony starts at 8:00 am EST and will air on cnn(dot)live as well as a bunch of stations including C-Span. I'm anxious to see what she will be wearing tomorrow morning.

Sorry Mimi, but I just can't believe you "misspoke". Your words were too direct and unambiguous. And you were not defending her hair. Offering Caucasian genes as an explanation for a "favorable" trait is not a defense.

Other posters have offered that natural black hair can grow long; this is true. Also, natural hair shrinks drastically so someone like me with midback-length hair can appear to have just shoulder-length hair (or shorter). I still wear my hair in its natural shrunken state. I don't have to straighten it to prove my length to others. And if I did, I'd dare them to say my length was attributable to white genes.

I cannot believe you fixed your fingers to type that on this blog of all places.

It's interesting to note that the "jacket" is not a jacket at all, but really a vest with a large collar worn over a knit shirt of almost identical color. What an interesting find. The photos at Just Jared were great.

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 12:37 AM | Unregistered CommenterWillow

Leah D - Thanks for the link to the full-length photos.

I don't really like the green Lanvin shoes with this outfit. They're so shiny and bright vs. the muted colors of the vest and sweater. I didn't realize that she's actually wearing a vest over a long sleeve sweater, not a jacket. The vest shows up in the full-length pictures.

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 12:38 AM | Unregistered Commenterbmw

I think I would have liked the outfit better with black slacks and black flats or even purple flats. I have never liked her in gray slacks (which she has worn before) and I really dislike those 'Lanvin' tennis shoes ever since the first time she wore them in that other color.
LOVE the scarf and love that the colors of the three gals outfits go together so well.

Oh Mimi, no worries, you're a sweetheart-

What a lovely family and how about the first lady in Rick Owens! Seriously this is one cool chic first lady if I ever saw one - I'm nuts about her!

Lol,IVA - I too do not watch that other channel - do not even channel surf through in error - I'd rather pluck my eyes out!

Poor Michelle she forgot to get more paint on her face,

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 2:43 AM | Unregistered CommenterMurd

Eleroy,
Sad to say but I do watch it one hour a day.
I watch Hardball on MSNBC the first go around and then when it repeats I flip over to Shepard Smith, only because I can't stand to listen to Lou Dobbs on CNN. CNN is great except when Dobbs is on - he drives my crazy talking about the folks south of our border all of the time.
I am looking forward to the day when MSNBC stops showing repeats of their shows and adds some new folks on there like Cenk Uygur, Lawrence O'Donnell, or even Eugene Robinson - in my opinion all three of them should have their own show on MSNBC.

CNN just showed the Obamas and Sarkozys greeting each other before the D-Day ceremony. I did not see the girls, so I am not sure if they are with them, but it did not look as if they were. Both ladies are very chic in slightly different tones of white. MrsO in a dress/duster coat combo, belted with a silver belt and MrsS in a short sleaved dress/black skinny belt with detailing at the neckline that reminded me of the dress MrsO wore when they visited the White House after the election.

Yummy!

Photos are up on Yahoo of Michelle and Carla Bruni --- both in WHITE with BELTS !

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 7:12 AM | Unregistered CommenterLeah D

This is very trivial... but after looking at the photos of Michelle and Carla on both Getty and Yahoo... Michelle wins the contest of who has the best 'foot' placement. Michelle poses like a model !!! I noticed that in the last trip to Europe too - that Michelle always puts her feet in the correct position when the cameras are around.

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 7:22 AM | Unregistered CommenterLeah D

I know that people should not be judged by their appearance but --- my goodness French President Nicolas Sarkozy is just TOO short to be taken seriously! OUR President looks like he is in command when standing next to the 'short' Sarkozy. I know that is awful to say ... but that is how it looks to me.

When in France do as the French do. I found this picture today.

Ah! Leah D, you're up early like me - WILD OBMAMA FASHION Women, we are!

Yes, Mrs. O brought her inner super model A-game with their matching white. Once again, these ladies played it smart - no competition here...move along.

Both look wonderful.

IVA-
I have been suffering from insomnia for the past couple of months. So I decided to stay up and on the patio on the computer all night and watch the sun come up! Watching the sunrise was very beautiful this morning, btw. I am hoping that I can reset my inner clock today and be able to go to sleep like a normal person tonight. Luckily I picked a day to do this when there is lots of news on TV regarding Pres. Obama and Michelle. It is 7am here in Texas and I really should have gone to bed! LOL!

Mrs. O looks beautiful this morning, as well as Carla---you can tell once again that they had a meeting of the minds to diffuse the media coverage of their clothing. The fact that she's going to be spending time with Carla tomorrow with the girls proves they really hit it off last time. What a great birthday gift for Sasha, as well as Malia to be in Paris now.

Here's my guess as to the white dress and duster jacket...I think it's Michael Kors. To me, it just resembled the Michael Kors black jacket she wore when coming into London last time.

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 8:16 AM | Unregistered CommenterJanelle

Let me preface this by saying that I have a huge girl crush on Michelle Obama. Never experienced that before. She can do no wrong for me. However, I do wish she'd stop wearing those big awful belts. They do her no favors. They draw attention to her little pouch (after two kids, I have one too) and they always ride up under her breasts. That outfit would have been even more lovely without the god-awful belt. She's a statuesque girl so petite tiny Carla Bruni, she can't wear those thin belts, but, please, Michelle, stop wearing those belts.

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 8:17 AM | Unregistered Commentermarabout40

Oh, that's awful! I hate feeling restless like that. Hopefully you'll get yourself back to normal soon - sleep is important!

Carla's dress reminds me of something Mrs. O has worn recently. It's very pretty. Mrs. O's duster is like the white version of the black one she wore when the Obamas descended the plane in Europe during their first European trip. And I love the belt solidarity, along with the color solidarity. Even the lengths of their dresses are similar.

It's funny how they clearly coordinated, but they don't look like Barbie Dolls or school girls trying to match each other. They did a good job.

@ marabout40 - I hear you, but I have come to terms with her belt thing. We all need to just deal with it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. For me, this belt works at certain angles, not so much at others. She seems to not care, so I will follow her lead. For example, this is an angle where I really like it. www(DOT)daylife(DOT)com/photo/058h97Wfft7EP

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 8:27 AM | Unregistered CommenterIVA

IVA, you're right, of course. She obviously loves her belts. I think maybe if this one didn't have the huge buckle and all the other detail it would work. It's just a bit too gaudy for me and detracts from the elegance of the outfit she's wearing.

Oh well, c'est Michelle. :)

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 8:36 AM | Unregistered Commentermarabout40

Janelle,
Thanks for posting the other link but gosh darn it - it doesn't work here for me, I've tried it three times!
I hope other folks have better luck than I have had!

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 8:42 AM | Unregistered CommenterLeah D

I like the outfit a lot and this is one instance where the belt is flattering. It's not too wide and it's not riding up.

Her hairstylist must be on vacation cause her hair does not look as polished these last few appearances as it usually does.

All in all, I think it's a good outfit. Nice and simple and fitted and even a little boring, which is good for an occasion like D-Day. I like Carla Bruni's dress too. It looks similar to something she wore to that G20 concert. I also don't like her hair that much. I think she's too old for that little flip style with the little bangs. Time for something new. But overall, I like her outfit.

Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 8:42 AM | Unregistered Commentertess

I've made peace about the belt issue. This belt today is okay for me because it's thicker and not a thin belt. The thicker belts have a greater chance of staying put and not riding up, although there are no guarantees. Mrs. O is not going to change, so I'm just trying to let it go...try to anyway. Iva is so right, no matter what we write, this woman is going to do her and she doesn't seem to care.

But still, marabout40, I feel you.
