Love the candid shots! Thanks for the link
Wow! When did Mrs. O wear that gorgeous red gown! I knew she would look great in red.
I hear the administration is releasing pics both to open up the White House and to detract from paparazzi. I think its a smart move. Okay, now I'm off to look at the rest of the pics. Thanks for the link Mrs. T!
I love the one where the president is walking Bo through the private residence, but it's clear that it's really Bo walking him. It's a really adorable picture. There are a couple of pics with Bo and they are all adorable.
But my favorite is the shot where everyone in the picture, including Mrs. O and the President, was wearing 3-D sunglasses while watching the Superbowl. Very quirky, charming shot.
The best picture of all for me is the one with POTUS & FLOTUS Kissing while Sasha is on his lap and Malia standing next to her mother...But all of them are beautiful and reflects the 100 days
on another note as per politico: Michelle Obama and Jill Biden join 160 Congressional spouses and children to volunteer at the Capital Area Food Bank.
The back of that red dress is lovely!

mimi that was definitely my favorite photo as well, in fact all of the pictures of the family were great. i also liked the one where Bo is attempting to chew on some staffer's toes, there was a video of david axelrod talking about Bo trying to chew on his tie; it sounds like Bo is indeed a handful.
i wan't to see that red dress
it looks beautiful from behind
i just love the pics with the first lady and president Obama together
It's hard to take your eyes away from the Obama's. They're such a strking couple.
Oh, I want to see that red dress too. It looks divine. Any details?
Michelle is on People's Most Beautiful List,(a no brainer)
Maybe that red dress is from the Alfalfa Dinner that was closed to the press?
So many wonderful, inspiring pictures, but I can't find the one that mimi was referring to.
*gasp*
*happy sigh*
I too want to see the front of the red dress, but I just adore those pics of the First Couple and the closeness between them. Such warmth and love! What a classy and gracious pair!
I Love them!
The red dress was at the Alfalfa Dinner!! I was wondering if we would ever see pix of her there! There were just too many pictures to pick a favorite for me...the kiss picture that was mentioned, the POTUS moving the sofa in the Oval office and helping Ray LaHood fix his tie are just 2 that show how 'normal' and in tune he is, the one of the POTUS and FLOTUS at Sasha's b'ball game, the one of them hugging (with MrsO in that nice cashmere?? grey sweater).....
I could go on and on! So glad they posted them. I will now have to work late to make up for the time I wasted looking at the all!
I've looked at them all now--my favorite is the one in the freight elevator after the Inaugural Ball, where the President has put his jacket around the First Lady's shoulders, and they are smiling with their heads together. So tender and sweet.
The sledding picture should be a Hallmark Card!!
Could we have a better First Family?? I don't think so.
I've just trawled the whole lot and they were great. What an amazing idea, I'm so glad that the US President and his family are changing the way politics can be portrayed. At last some transparency and honesty! Someone described the Obama's in an article recently as "emotionally explicit" and it was a description I really liked. They have great integrity.
I couldn't pick ONE fave I don't think. But I liked the photo of Barack hugging Michelle in front of Valerie Jarrett. And there's one of the President with his daughters in the colonnade, that was great too. And the one of Bo going into the Oval office on his own! Oh, don't get me started....
The photos are fab...I looked through on the HuffPost, saw the red dress, gasped and thought "OMG-I wonder if they know about this at Mrs O?" ;) You did....!!
What a gorgeous, elegant classy red gown! And we are finally out of the dark on that one!!
I love the pics...amazing...and I love the pics you guys posted, those were some of my favorites too. But like someone else said the one with POTUS/FLOTUS kissing with the babies is my favorite.
A nice little article by Lynn Sweet about MrsO's 1st 100 days. I know a while back there was a little discussion about Desiree Rogers being 'too visable', but I found it interesting that the article notes that MrsO frequently goes out to dinner with her 'pals' Desiree and Valerie, and that she went to the theater with MsR last night!

I am coveting one of those water glasses with the Presidential seal on it...
I look at the ton of work being done, and the sea of paper, and no wonder the country went off a cliff the past eight years with a legacy C student in charge.
Pete Souza was already known as a terrific photog for his work at AP, and this is going to put him in the ranks of David Hume Kennerly. This pix are great, but there are some others in the stream that are really fun -- one of Mrs. O giving Potus a "bish, plz" look out in the garden, and a wonderful shot of Potus tossing a football upward from his desk in the Oval office.
Trudy, no water glasses, but there are wonderful WH items on the WH Historic Association Web site. http://www.whitehousehistory.org/shop/default.aspx
mimi, that is by far my favorite picture too!!! im just so glad they are all in the white house, and get to spend a lot of quality time together, you could tell that the rigors of the campaign was hard on them....i so heart this couple
There is one picture where president obama is talking on the phone, and the picture was taken from his back so you could see the family pictures on the president's desk, and one of the pictures is form the campaign trail, when they were traveling on a train en route to a campaign stop and Mrs. O fell asleep in then Senator Obama's arms.....*SWOON* i can't take how cute they are!!!
ps: I have to disagree w/ everyone though, the back of that red dress does not look very appealing to me, although I still want to see the front...but I am definitely not a big fan of the back....just me :-)
Ooh, the sledding picture makes me giddy! :)

The Obamas exude warmth and life. Do you think the little office where POTUS is kissing FLOTUS is in the family's living quarters? That's a great shot, with little Sasha wrapping her arm around her father.
@ Bevi,
The picture where POTUS is kissing FLOTUS with the kids is the small study just off the Oval Office. Apparently, he prefers to do a lot of work there when he doesn't have meetings. Maybe he doesn't like the rug in the Oval office that Bush left--LOL. The picture of the residence is the photo where POTUS is walking with Bo on a leash and Malia is walking in front---there's a black piano in the background. You can see how they decorated it. It's the major hallway/foyer connecting various rooms in the second floor residence. (Or should I say Bo was leading POTUS in that picture)!
I saw a show on C-Span that Laura Bush did right before the inauguration so I know that picture well.
@ Janelle, I actually LOVE the Bush rug (about the only thing I liked form that administration...lol, and Laura Bush....but let's not get into that)
Remember when all the living presidents got together before inauguration and President Clinton said he "loved the rug," you know I have to agree! lol
but that rug is really beautiful....I think Laura was the one that picked it out....definitely pricey ($70,000), but beautiful non-the-less! I guess fit for the oval office.
I like the rug too. I don't think I like the lighting though. The oval looks good when the natural lighting from the sun comes in, but those bulbs need to be dimmed some. Maybe the President likes that little office for doing busy work--probably reminds him of his cramped senator office which was super small in the basement of the Congress with no windows. Or maybe he just needs an adjustment period. It's probably nice to switch rooms back and forth throughout the day.
Janelle,
I do not think that the hallway/foyer with the black piano has been redecorated. It looks just like it did in previous photos on the WH museum website before the Obamas moved in.
I think the that Obamas redecorated mainly their bedrooms and living rooms.
Here is another great one of MR. & MRS. O -

I am LOVING the red dress from the Alfalfa Dinner. I'd love to see more pics.
Back story on the rug.... told quite amusingly!

I have just watched the funniest clip on YouTube... have you all seen Laura Bush do her speech at the press pool dinner, 2006? Go to YouTube and search for Laura Bush, Desperate Housewife.
10 POINTS FOR THAT RED DRESS...It's so Moulin Rouge!
All Mrs.O is missing now are her gloves and a feathered disguise. I'm almost sure the front is a bustier like with a sweetheart neckline and lace! Very, very sexy without being trampy. LOVE IT!
Running a close second, it the photo with the girls and Mrs.O greeting the President with a kiss in his study. I am definitely an advocate for parents being affectionate in front of their kids, that way they know they are loved!
These shots are definite keepers.
I luv the pic where their kissing and you can see just a bit of Malia's face and you can tell shes smiling. So sweet. I would luv to see the front of that red dress.
Interesting 2003 article on Peter Soronen. Did you know that he started with corsets and then expanded into evening wear?

Sorry about that long url. Had to post from Cache.
LDS: The pictures are great, the love is real and they make me feel good inside. What a joy! This family makes me forgot about the recession, the past Aministration(s) and mosst of all to get my body back healthy again. This is the end of government as usual and a welcome change to enjoying the fact that the government is the people and we have real people representing us VERY WELL......
Fantastic photos by a talented photographer. They show such a great spectrum of emotions and animation, casual and serious sides to our new president and those around him. Truly a great and interesting study of a new administration coming in at a time of tremendous opportunity and challenge.
I don't this this is the Alfalfa Dinner dress. At the time of the Alfalfa Dinner her dress was described as red, STRAPLESS, formfitting. No photos were found at the time.
