Mrs. O Digs In (Updated)

This afternoon First Lady Mrs. O helped to plant a tree as part of a service project at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Washington, D.C. The event was organized by the Student Conservation Association, an Americorp organization. The group's leader explained that the Student Conservation Association has been planting trees in the area for 5 years, and a has a relationship with the park that extends back a decade. The trees were planted to help protect the nearby Anacostia River.
As the group got to work, Mrs. O removed her navy nylon jacket, revealing a navy blouse with green ruffle front, a navy bow and navy chiffon trim. "I just want to point out that these good looking arms come in handy," President Mr. O commented. Watch a CSPAN video of the event here.
Update: Brilliant work Mrs. Oers! The top is in fact Lanvin. We've spotted a similar style here.
Today President Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act that intends to more than triple the number of AmeriCorp volunteers to 250,000 over the next five years.

Thank you for being a human being Michelle! Help me plant red roses of conscience and compassion in everyone's heart and change their patterns from dark to light! We need balance desperately of those who drink blood of others and those who truly serve humanity!Forgivenss to all sins!
Mrs. O looks great! I love the boots and her stellar arms! Yep, here's to women taking the time to take care of themselves in the midst of juggling all of our responsibilities! To steal a line from the other O, Ms Oprah: "Live Your Best Life."
Mrs. O, POTUS, Bill Clinton, and the Bidens were planting trees. Mrs. O has on her blue jacket from the Easter Roll and jeans. She has a sleeveless top on--she takes her jacket off while digging. She has great arms!! Go FLOTUS!! How many First Ladies can you see doing this!

Mrs.T,
Michelle was also at the bill signing event today in a purple jacket before heading out to plant the tree with the President.
From the AP:
WASHINGTON – Calling on Americans to volunteer, President Barack Obama signed a $5.7 billion national service bill Tuesday that triples the size of the AmeriCorps service program over the next eight years and expands ways for students to earn money for college. "
Also, I love how the President gave Mrs. O a shot out during his speech...he always does that. Its so cute! :p
Here ya'll go...

I just noticed that they planted 'several' trees.
One purple one and at least two green ones.
From a man's point of view, Mrs. O always looks good no matter what she wears and what she is doing. I love how she can show class in an evening gown, and show she is an every day women that can dig dirt, plant a garden and walk the dog.
Yep.
Michelle changed from her pin stripped slacks from the bill signing into solid black pants. And she put on her 'motorcycle' boots. At one point she also had on the blue windbreaker jacket with the orange zipper fabric (seen in the Jackeens photos).
Here are some photos of Mrs.O through out the day.

What an interesting blouse. Can't wait to find out who's the designer of that one.
I just love these people...go Mr. Pres. and First Lady!
Show 'em how its done...a class act

I don't remember seeing a photo of Michelle's shoes that she wore under her white inaugural ball gown before...
Here's a close-up of her white heels -- photo #16 on the slideshow:

Her hair is very pretty today. The shirt looks great. I like it with the black pants at the tree planting but not so much at the Bill signing with the pinstripes and the purple jacket and blue belt (there is just too much going on and together they do not seem to fit well). But kudos to her hairdresser for keeping her hair silky and smooth, especially in this damp and rainy weather.
"Those are some good looking arms, they come in handy don't they" lol President Obama is funny, you can check out that line on the cspan video
I just love Mrs. O. I can honestly say I don't care what she wears...I'm no longer an unbiased viewer of her clothing. Even if it's not a hit, I still love something about what she wearing...mainly because I just think she's such a beautiful person.
IVA, I just can't help it, I had to give you a shoutout! Your honesty is so very refreshing. I just love that about you that you admit "the clothes be damned, I just love the person!" I love her dearly too, but if I have to be as honest as you I must admit that I am so fashion obsessed I can't not comment on the clothes.
Hahaha! So true - "clothes be damned, I do just love Mrs. O!"
I loved hearing the President deliver his joking remark about Mrs. Obama's arms, their beauty and utility. And he refers to her as, "sweetie." Their love is beyond journalism. I love these people for so very many reasons.
The blouse is really beautiful. Mrs. T, do we know the label?
where are you all getting the president's remarks during the tree planting?
The video of the event is up at cspan Edwina
Here's a photo of what the blue jacket with the orange zipper fabric looks like in the inside:

The POTUS is so cute calling his wife "sweetie" and teasing her. LOL. And how adorable was he when he said "those good looking arms come in handy!" LOL
Thanks,carmen, I found the video.
I use to be an Americorp volunteer working in a preschool for children whose families were dealing with homelessness. Americorp is a great program that helps a lot of people, I am so happy that the president is expanding it.
On a fashion note, I loved Michelle's blouse.
I too loved the POTUS calling Michelle "sweetie" several times. Very natural...very nice. Michelle has the big guns in those beautiful toned arms, and it's nice to know the Prez notices his wife--every woman loves to hear how good she looks from her husband. He knows what he's got. Loved the blouse as well.
Yes it was very cute listening to him flirt with his wife...he likes to tease her.
Did anyone else find it really funny that they left his work shoes, so he had to work in his dress shoes. He must've been so worried not only about getting dirty, but slipping. I'm sure they're slippery on the bottom! That would've been awful, if he had fallen or slid....can you imagine?!!??!
I, too, am completely besotted by the First Couple...but I also have to know the who/where of that tank with the magnificent bow and trim! OMG, I am woozy with delight!
These people are amazing! Check out this video of the 1st couple on youtube.

i just watched that cspan 38 minute clip. our president is just gorgeous, sexi, and fun. i love both him and flotus flirting, i found that sexi. reminds me of me and my guy.
great pictures on the links. who was that fine dread guy giving the important info to the 2 potus, vp joe, and everybody? holla.
I seriously want that blouse (shell?). Gotta have it. I bought the yellow-and-brown J.Crew shell Michelle wore on Jay Leno, and I am not ashamed! Mrs. T., you have to get your sources on the case.
Also, cosign on the fine volunteer, toi. I might have to find me that brother.
what a beautiful blouse ! the close-up of her in that top is one of the best yet, of her, imo
and it is really nice that mr. o acknowledges and compliments his wife in public - sure i'm a fan of hers, but i also have a crush on him : )
that blouse is BEAUTIFUL!! But I wish she had saved it for another event, im not sure gardening is the best place for it
but she looks great regardless, and if its what she wants to wear, then so be it! :-)
A bit off topic but since there has been discussion here before regarding gift giving to and from the President I thought I'd post this here.
From Politico:
President Obama and King Abdullah's gifts
A White House aide tells POLITICO that King Abdullah gave President Obama a royal weaponry set, complete with four different types of daggers, an axe and a knife.
President Obama gave Abdullah a lithograph print of the U.S. Sloop-of-war Saratoga and Carl Sandburg’s biography of Abraham Lincoln.
From Politco:
Some big names at the president's bill signing this afternoon: Ted and Victoria Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Rosalyn Carter, Caroline Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Mike Bloomberg, Colin Powell, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Mike Enzi, Orrin Hatch, Barbara Mikulski, Carolyn McCarthy, George Miller and Gwen Moore. And of course, Michelle Obama and the Bidens.
Love the blouse on Mrs. O. I also thought that Dr. Biden's outfit is so cute! Turquoise jacket, white jeans and pink rubber boots!
Yea, Jill Biden looked absolutely lovely too!
Mrs. O looked fierce!
IVA, couldn't agree with you more! It's getting that way for me too.
I'm not totally over it though - that top IS fabulous and I'd love one (as soon as you've sourced it Mrs T, I think you have a list of people who want to order!).
Nice, too, to see such a big group of volunteers from the White House (and environs) for the planting. It would be so easy to sidestep this kind of event out of fear of looking like you don't know what you're doing. Kudos to the Bidens, the Obamas and the Billster.
FLOTUS and POTUS are great as always but the volunteer with dreadlocks!!!!!!!!he's hot!! (smiles, sorry guys i had to say that)
Amazing how Mrs. O can look so beautiful planting trees!!
I would love to see a little bit more of Jill Biden, too. I really admire her for returning to her teaching job and for the love she has shown to Sen. Biden's children after the tragic death of his first wife and little girl.
These two ladies are true inspirations!!!
Mimi, we are all about the equal opportunity ogling here! (smile)
That "fine, dread brother" is Amtchat Edwards of the Student Conservation Association. (don't ask)
Mrs. O attended a theater performance and tribute last night, but I haven't seen any pics. Only this article and twitter updates from attendees.
