Good Morning America scored an exclusive interview with First Lady Mrs. O, recorded at Ft. Bragg yesterday.
In the interview, Mrs. O spoke of adjusting to life at the White House and striking a balance between her responsbilities as a mom and new role as First Lady. Towards the end of the sitdown, Robin Roberts asked Mrs. O a question submitted from an audience member: "What does she [Mrs.O] do for relaxation in the evening away from the public?"
Mrs. O: "Oooh, I must confess. Sometimes I just click on some non-important TV -- and just veg out. But I'm usually asleep right after the kids go to bed because I get up early and I work out. That tends to be my relaxation. It happens in the morning."
RR: "Well, we see the workouts doing very well for you."
Mrs. O: "Well, I covered my arms up." [Laughter]
At least Mrs. O is taking this all in stride and as we had hoped, having a good chuckle. If we never see another story about bare arms, it will be more than fine by us. Watch the full segment
here.
We also recommend watching
this segment from the same interview. First Lady Mrs. O discusses her focus on military families and the very real challenges they too often face.

This is just great she is truly inspirational and she is clearly good with children-it is a shame that some right wing critics even found something to complain about in her trip to Ft Bragg. She does not need the publicity but it is important that she highlight issues not just fashion tips.
If we are not careful and jealous of our First Ladies hard work and
dedication which bring's a stunning woman to camera's everywhere,
Then, we have failed, to love and appreciate we encourage unique,
individual outlook's and as wife and mother. We may miss the message
but, I'm sure she will prevail her confidence and elegance.
She is so grounded. I just how she communicates with adults and children! And her sense of humor doesn't hurt either.
That was a great interview. I laughed myself silly at the arms bit at the end! Brilliant, grounded, lovely, funny woman.
I loved when she threw the arms thing in at the end lol
Michelle has a great sense of humor, and I will defend her right to bare arms!
She is a wonderful woman and a pearl of a girl!
That's was very funny! I really love her sense of humor about these things.
Michelle is always very, very charming in interviews. I am looking forward to watching the rest of it later when I get the chance. I still remember the first time I really got to hear her speak, I believe it was Larry King some time around the beginning of 2008, and she was wearing a black dress, with her hair flipped at the end. Anyway, it was love (or at least undying admiration) at first sight! I was really blown away by her and of course, I still am.
I just watched this clip and thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Obama's ease with herself and openness to all those she encounters. I especially loved the clip of the little girl off-camera shouting "Sasha" and "Malia" and the pure delight Mrs. Obama took in that. It is indeed very sweet and heartwarming. I also laughed with her at the end as she reached for her sweatered biceps and had a laugh with all of us about the issue. Her humor is entirely welcome. I'd say half her workout is all the hugs she shares!
love the interview. how sweet that little girl yelling out i know sasha, i know malia.......<333333333
She comes across as so sweet and down to earth. I know she's glamorous and smart and all the rest of it, but she's so likeable too.
And great to know she has enough of a sense of humour to make light of some of the less than flattering press she's been getting.
Lisa Leslie, who is a WNBA basketball player, was at the White House for the event this week naming Valerie Jarratt as the head of the President's women and girls council. She wrote a piece about her experience for the L.A. Times.
Here is a quote from it, in which Lisa writes about the moment she actually met the President after he signed the executive order and was greeting the guests:
"President Obama shook my hand and said he was happy I was there. As the first lady passed behind us, he said, leaning his head in her direction, "And you know I like tall women!"
First of all, it was just too cute that he is always looking for a chance to compliment his wife. But it also made me smile given all of the talk here on this blog lately about high-heels and Mrs. O.

New post, pleeeeease. Where is Mrs. O?
The Supremes,
As far as I can tell Michelle Obama does not have any public events scheduled for today or Sunday. I am sure she is at home with her family. Everyone needs a day or two off each each especially folks that are NOT getting paid like Michelle.
I really adore Mrs Obama...she's absolutely refreshing!
It's a true pleasure for America to have such a down to earth first lady.
@ The Supremes - Mrs. T does an amazing job creating posts for this blog. Some days she even posts twice. She deserves a break as well as Michelle.
Chill.
Ginger MacDonald: HUH??
Dear All, Hope you're having lovely weekends. The lack of posts is due to a lack of new Mrs. O news (not counting the comic book, which didn't quite cut it). I'm sure that will change very shortly though. XOXO, Mrs. T
HuffingtonPost has a new slideshow/poll up for Michelles clothes that she has worn in the first 55 days. Sadly they did NOT include the green Stevie Wonder dress, the People cover pink dress, the outfit she wore on O Magazine, etc.
