Watching this interview was such a pleasure!! I felt as if I were sitting in the living room with them and that they would turn to me at any moment for a comment. They were both so relaxed and the questions and answers were so engaging. I am continuously impressed with and proud of Mrs. Obama. She is so very comfortable in her own skin and she exudes self confidence without the slightest bit of arrogance. She puts it all together in a way that is welcoming and caring.
The First Lady Michelle Obama is absolutely amazing. Not only does she care for her family, but she is also aware for the good education of all kids and good health for all the USA. She is elegant and diplomatic, but still very grounded despite her high position. It's always refreshing and stunning for me to see her doing so very well in her efforts to support her husband. I totally agree with the comment of 'Tairea'. I'm wishing the First Family much luck, health and success for all the challenges to come.
Mrs T, I can only echo what Tairea said. This website is great for allowing me to keep updated on this truly inspiring woman. Your book is a visual feast that leaves other fashion books in the dark and I have three on order to give to my girlfriends as Christmas presents.
I love love love Michelle Obama. Love her. She has brought a breath of fresh air to a role that I always saw as rather dull. I wish someone like her was around when I was a little girl growing up and I can oly imagine what legacy she will leave once the President's two terms are over.
I also love what she is wearing. I like the fact that at the age of 46 (?) she wears cutesy little bows and bright colours.
My respect and appreciation for Michelle Obama just keep increasing (which I didn't think was possible) every time I hear her or read about her. She is such a beautiful, bright, grounded, loving likeable person and the most impressive First Lady since Eleanor Roosevelt.
Tairea and jestina, thank you both for your kind words!
Did anyone happen to catch the last question about "Mr. O"? I was curious if it might have been submitted by a reader from this blog. Overall, the interview made quite an impression on me as well. Mrs. O was so poised, genuine and reflective (...not to mention stylish!). We're so lucky to have her.
Mrs.T, thank you from the bottom of my heart for this blog.
Mrs.O is so polished, refined, genuine and caring. The interview make such an impact and a very wonderful impression on me.
I am just so thankful for the heart of First Lady, she truly cares about people and being a mentor in the lives of our young ladies. I was particularly impressed when Ms. Couric asked her who were her mentors and she replied that they weren't actors and superstars but ordinary folks like her mom, her teachers, and people that she could related to and had access to.
Her true mentors were ordinary folk just doing extraordinary things.
I echo your word Mrs T, we are truly blessed to have her and her works will live on for many generations. The world is inspired by her.
Thanks Tsetse. I couldn't remember the first lady's age but if she lives to be 100, I bet she'll still be an inspiring woman. America, you should be proud of her. She has done your country proud. It's times like this that I miss Princess Diana. We need more carers and huggers in this world.
This is my favorite website which I access three to four times daily; from the office as well as from my home. Thank you, Mrs.T for your foresight in creating such an informative website that captures the essence of OUR First Lady!
This is my first comment as I am not big on fashion so usually just look but not comment. I am so impressed with this interview. I like listening to women of substance. Mrs O and Katie..now that's a "twofer".
What I love about Mrs. Obama, her clothes, and this website, is it's not just about her clothes, as some mistakenly assume. A clear philosophy on life, priorities, love, and finding and expressing joy is all reflected in how Mrs. O presents herself, whether it's in her clothes, activities, or speech.
In this Katie Couric interview, she was both vulnerable yet strong at the same time. And this brave ability to reveal her passions, in the face of such intense scrutiny and, sometimes, criticism, is so inspiring. I hope my daughter can also speak with such confidence and openness about her life, career, and loves when she grows up.
And, Mrs. T, you asked if anyone caught the last question about Mr. O. If you mean the question about how Mrs. O chose Mr. O as a partner, then, yes, I was struck by how empowering Mrs. O was for young women everywhere. I often forget how hard it was to be on the dating scene. And, Mrs. O was so compassionate in reminding young women that a significant other should make you feel good, rather than bad, about yourself.
Her point about role models most effectively being someone you can touch is so interesting to me considering I consider her a role model.
I definitely realize it isn't an either-or situation-you can look up to a Mrs O and get a mentor in your career field-but it definitely made me stop and go "Hmm maybe I shouldn't use Mrs O as a role model because I don't know her", not unlike her astronaut example.
Stunning. Aesthetically, that dress is a home run! The color, the collar, the elegant, subtle bow. It's difficult to wear bows in a manner that is not juvenile past a certain age.. Mrs. O does MATURE albeit feminine bows! I sound like a parrot, but I'll stick to it: Mrs. O has taught the 35+ crowd how to dress in a feminine, flirty manner that is wholly age-appropriate and professional
Fascinating interview. Articulate, thoughtful...the discussion on health care hits so close to home (I have no preventive care here...$4000 deductible...no further comment necessary).
My only quibble in this otherwise fantastic sit-down with our First Lady: Mrs. O needs to keep working on cutting out the "you knows"
Sorry about the double post, but I just HAVE to say: I was having a downer of a morning, full of self doubt and fatigue regarding a number of things in my life. Watching Mrs. O has made me shake that feeling...this interview gave me great energy (the I-just-drank-a-double-americano feeling!) and motivation.
THANK YOU FOR THIS, MRS. O & CO. What an amazing First Lady we have! I am SO ready for her to be in the White House for eight years (seven at this point)
Thanks for posting the link, Julie. Mrs. O looks gorgeous with the updo and the gray skirt suit over the green ruffle neck blouse (at least that what I think she's wearing). Can't wait to see what she wears later.

I loved this interview. Mrs. O and Katie look very comfortable with each other.
Mica, I thought about that too, but Mrs. O has been so open and she is so warm and genuine that it seems like I know her. I may not know her personally, but what I do know of her, I love and respect and I can't help but admire her. So, yes, she definitely is one of my role models.
Yes Tsetse, I know what you mean about the astronaut thing. It is amazing that her inspirations were people in her life. I started a thread in the chatroom about Icons and inspirations and I listed all the well known people who have influenced me in my adult life. When I look back at my childhood although it is barren of much positive family influence, I *was* inspired by my dad, four wonderful neighbours, the vicar at my school, a couple of teachers. This interview reminded me of those people and made me thank them again.
I can only echo some of the wonderful posts above in praising Mrs O and her groundedness, beauty, inspiring way of being... and also thank Mrs T from the bottom of my heart (not the other way round!) for starting this blog. You will never be my guilty pleasure Mrs T, I brag about your gorgeous site everywhere I go. But thank you ANYway. xx

awesome human being.intelligent, caring and beautiful.. :))))
I think Mrs. Obama is an amazing woman. She hasn't had terribly many years in the public eye, yet she has just taken to her role as First Lady so naturally and effortlessly, with such poise and grace. I love that she is so visible and that her causes are important ones. I think we are very, very lucky to have her.
This website is truly my little guilty pleasure....and this video was just wounderful to watch. Whoever sent in the last question read my mind and I am so happy Katie chose to ask her about it.

This woman is utterly phenomenal.
Mrs T, thank you so much for creating this website. I've been following it for quite some time, but have never posted a comment.
I love Michelle Obama's incredible sense of self-awareness, which in turn influences what she wears (what pleases HER, not anyone else).
This website is my guilty pleasure after a long day at work, and I love the fact that I can indulge in both style AND substance.
Kudos Mrs. T, and congrats as well on the new book!!
