A Stylish Mission to Serve

This afternoon, First Lady Mrs. O and Dr. B gathered at George Washington Univeristy for the launch of Mission Serve. Mission Serve is a network that links veterans to community service groups, as part of the first lady's broader push for public service.
Mrs. O wears a Zero + Maria Cornejo jacket debuted a few weeks ago in Copenhagen, pared with gray pants. A black cut-out belt - one we've not seen before - cinches the waist.

Please spare us the twisted logic Canyongal! We see you. We recognize you for what you are and no amount of tongue-twisting or windy acrobatics changes the fact that folks like you are the problem here.
This blog was always presented as a celebration of Michelle Obama and her style, not as a free for all, hide behind your computer and spew uncontained rubbish marathon under the pretense of uninformed and half-baked fashion critique.
Your posts are childish and mostly offer nothing more than banal, common and uninsightful ramblings only made remarkable by the barely camouflaged & endless insults flung at Michelle Obama.
Many more of us have had it and are sick and tired of folks like you who try to deprive us of this singular site where we can peacefully indulge our admiration of Michelle Obama and her style without the pervasive nonsense. Some of us have left in disgust, others have scaled back participation but folks like me stay because we are determined that folks like you will not prevail. That any decent person will take issue with keeping a blog fun, sweet, light and nice is beyond me especially in these times when many seek an escape from the all the madness and there are so few havens protected from the tear the Obama's down mentality.
When I registered to participate in this blog this is what my welcome email said.
"Congratulations!
You have just set up a member account at Mrs-O.org.
Welcome to the community that celebrates what and whom Mrs.O is wearing."
So that is what I try to do when I come here whether I like what she is wearing or not - CELEBRATE HER!!!!! Not gush as some accuse, I'm too old for that. Those who show up only to criticize and insult might want to try Free Republic instead. Or do a google search for "Ann Coulter slams Michelle Obama's clothes" you may feel more welcomed there. That said, I am going to take a long break.
Julie, Thanks for the link to a great photo of Mrs. O and Dr. B. I could go on and on about what lovely representatives and role models they are for American women, but since this is a fashion blog, I will limit myself to commenting that you can see how beautifully styled Mrs. O's hair is here, swept back in loose waves.

Wow, seems like a LOT of people are riding the hate train tonight. For your information I am a Democrat and I voted for President Obama.
I love how you think you "know me" based on the comments I posted here stating my OPINION about whether or not I think this particular outfit the FLOTUS is wearing looks nice. If you have read any of my other comments on other threads I call it like I see it, which is the right of anyone here to do. If I like something the FLOTUS wears, she gets an enthusiastic thumbs up. If I don't, I say so and I say why and what I believe doesn't work. It's harmless and it isn't said in a nasty way.
If some of you would calm down, you would see that I was not the only person on this thread that didn't think these pants looked good. But go on ahead and vent your frustrations on me and call ME childish. IIt's a reflection on your lack of discipline and self control, not mine.
If you want to live in a "peaceful" little world where everyone had better agree with you or you will throw a tantrum, just hide out in your bedroom and don't ever venture farther than your front door. Otherwise, welcome to life in the real world, in a free country where adults can speak their minds and voice their opinions in a civil manner and "agree to disagree".
For the last time: I love Michelle Obama, but in my opinion this jacket is too short and too boxy to be paired with these pants, the color doesn't look like it's the best choice for her, and the pants are just plain ill-fitting and awful.
I really.......truly.......honestly don't care if you like what I say or how I say it.
Lota: Since when are YOU "a decent person" who "keeps the blog fun, sweet, light and nice." In fact, I don't recall that you have EVER made a comment one way or another about Mrs. O's fashions. You only hop on the blog when you have something nasty to say about another person's opinion. It's about the FASHION, honey!
I miss the old days too. This website was my 'secret escape'. Now all the bickering reminds me of my teenage children.
So let me just say something nice -- I really like the smiles and body language between Mrs O and Dr B. That is to me what makes this a truly stunning photo.
I wish that we could just rate the outfits 1-5 stars and then have a special post with our 'favorite outfit of the month' and celebrate Mrs O and the designer who appealed to most people.
Hmmm, I just looked at the above photo on another computer. The colors are darker so that the texture and gentle waves at the sides of her hair don't show. Anyway, what I was going to say...when I look at this picture of Mrs. O, the word that pops into my head is "regal." Never thought of her like that before. Must be the updo.
Just got through reading these posts, and boy, Canyongal has been on a tear. What seems to be her problem? Was she having a bad day and the FLOTUS was a convenient target to releave her upset? It's one thing to disagree with how someone dresses, but to carry it to the extreme that she has in all her ranting throughout this post leaves me to suspect that there's more going on here than meets the eye. Maybe it's time for her to check herself out. As Mrs T. has stated over and over again, this blog is for "constructive" comments on what the First Lady wears, not a platform for those who feel entitled to vent their uggliness disguised as fashion commentary. Other posters have disagreed on a given day with what the FLOTUS has worn but has done so in a tactful, insightful, and yes, even a humorous way that we all can benefit from. That's the intent, ladies! For those of you who may lack these skills, PRACTICE, and if you are unwilling or unable to do so, then I suggest you keep your comments to yourself otherwise you continue to demonstrate your ignorance and lack of social graces, which defeats the intent of this blog.
An observation - not a criticism. Trousers, on any shape, need to be well-cut and pockets - wherever they are - should enhance the line of the body as well as fit the overall look. Anyay, let's not take any of this too seriously, eh?
Love these two. Educated, stylish, and seem very happy and confident. Also look darn good for their ages. Vey proud of FLOTUS and SFLOUS ( is that such a thing) LOL...
Canyongal,
I don't think it is about what you said, I think in this case, it is the way you said it. It seems that you and BeeGee went to major lengths to show how bad the outfit was. The numerous posts back to back just seems like ya'll were revelling in the fact that her pants were ill fitting. And before anyone comes at me with the old saying (it is on this blog anyway) "everyone has the right to post what they want", I know! So, don't be surprised when people post their dislike for some of the things others say.
You are right, you definitely give your honest opinions (whether you like her outfit or not) and make no apologies about it and I think thats cool. I just wanted to give some insight into what may be the reason for people coming at you on this thread, I know that's how I felt when I read ya'll comments, I just didn't feel like posting.
Fellow posters do not be fooled, canyongal is a troll. One iota of energy, It does not deserve. I will ignore It from this point on.
There are new pics up of Mrs. O on yahoo.

I watched it on livestream and I thought the FL spoke well, as she usually does. She mentioned that she caught a little cold from the girls.
This has nothing to do with this fashion blog but today I opened a link and it started scanning my computer and I let it. Now it is a program on my computer and it wants me to buy the software, but I don't want it and I cannot figure out how to delete it from my programs. It is blocking websites and becoming a huge pain in the you know what. If anyone has any idea how to get rid of it, can you please tell me, I will truly appreciate it. Sorry to ask, but I couldn't even check getty because it is blocking it. Arrrrgh!
OMG! The entire J.Crew Leno outfit is back , but this time with that hot belt i'm dying to know the designer of. Very cute. She's been rocking a lot of updo's lately and I kinda like it.
Nyon, a number of those scanning fraud programs are embedding themselves in computers. The best thing to do is contact your anti-virus program - Norton? McAfee? - and see what they have to say about eradicating your particular problem from your system. There are procedures to be followed.
I have found on my Mac that hitting Escape as soon as they show up will make them go away (they have no X to close them). May not work for others, so be vigilant and keep your antivirus and firewall programs up to date.
Lota, "ranting"? Not at all. I stayed calm while you, on the other hand, came unglued and diplayed a truly abyssmal lack of courtesy and made an incorrect assesment of my political leanings. Do you actually speak to people the way you write? If you do, that's very sad.
Bee Gee and I, seeming to "revel" that the pants didn't fit well? Nope, just observing. Commenting on what we observed, as many others did. That being said, Nyon, thank you for your post. I will continue to express my opinion regardless of who here likes it or doesn't. It isn't their call, although some people certainly seem to have set themselves up as a self-appointed moderating committee.
McKinley, I won't rise to your bait, nor will I resort to childish name-calling.
Christen, appreciate your post, too. It IS about the fashion! Let the screamers and ranters continue to do so if they wish. It doesn't bother me one bit. I'm moving on to the newly-posted J Crew thread.
Thx, BeeGee I finally got it taken care of. I had to download AntiSpyware programs.
Ladies, I think it's time for ALL of us to ignore Canyongal. Enough is enough. This woman doesn't seem to get the essence and spirit of this blog, and her responses imply that she doesn't want to either. Usually when someone is so hell-bent on not getting the point, usually they don't. So it will be a colossal waste of time to continue to try to engage this woman in a disciplined and reasoned discussion on how best to express our differing views on the First Lady's fashion without appearing to be judgemental, hateful, and vicious, as most of her comments appear to be. So McKinley, I'm with you. Enough said to and about this person, it's time to move on.
I'd love to know how some of you thought your "disciplined and reasoned" comments about me could possibly produce a constructive discussion. That was my whole point. Maybe if you would retract your claws, civility could reign on this blog once more.
God forbid any of you admit that your venomous barbs that have NOTHING to do with fashion are part of the reason people leave this site and don't return. But I am not afraid to continue to express my thoughts and opinons on what Mrs. Obama wears and will continue to do so, no matter how much you disagree or feel the need to attack.
Sad Christen accusing others of *jumping in* when she's the queen of battle delight. Several pages ago it was this same Christen who jumped in gleefully shouting *catfight* when one of those back and forths ensued.
I usually come here to get updates on the delightful Mrs Obama - pictures, positive news etc. Never felt I had the right to *critique* anothers fashion/style preferences least of all that of the First Lady of the United States and have always believed like all smart people do, that fashion is very subjective.
I will however never hesitate to respond to any attempts to denigrate, disrespect or insult Mrs Obama - Have no doubt about that and will not be stopped by you or your ilk. You can be sure of that.
:) @ mszonian524
Lota, For lord's sake, PLEASE make a comment related to FASHION. PLEASE! I wasn't being gleeful when I said "catfight" many, many pages ago. I was being sarcastic...or are you too dim to get it?
she needs to wear zero maria cornejo all of the time. the clothes fit her so well and she always looks so pretty in them!
@ mszonian524
I'm moving on with you!
Not my favorite outfit of Mrs. O's, but better than looking like wallpaper. As others have said, it is great to see two independent, educated and socially-minded ladies joining forces for worth causes.
I agree Mia and I love Besty Johnson!
To be honest Mia, I'm really starting to believe most of the insults come from women or men who are jealous of FLOTUS and truly not happy with their lives. Other than that why in the world would a person come to a site like this to insult FLOTUS. Its just crazy!
Don't you GET it, Melcy? No one here is INSULTING Mrs. O.! I hope you are not as thin-skinned when it comes to your real life. Some of us are just offering our own opinions on what would have made a particular outfit look better. I have not seen anyone on here criticize an entire outfit....usually it's just a small part of it, like leaving off a belt, or wearing a different top. On the other hand, BETSY Johnson looks hideous for her age....it's not the clothes as much as the glopped-on garish makeup and bleached, dry, wild hair. I guess if she chooses to grab attention by looking like a clown, so be it.
Pathetic Christen. Trying so hard to project your overwhelmingly negative attributes on others in that shrill, superficial, cheap-trick, marketplace style of yours won't make a lick of a difference.
No, I'm not *Dim* as you suggest, but come to think of it, that would be one way to begin to describe you at best - if that were your only shortcoming. Dim, nasty, disturbed, green-eyed and seriously deluded that's a sorry, sorry picture of a sad, off-putting and lonely woman. Get some help quick.
Lota: Keep spewing your hate-filled trash. That way we can all see that you truly are moronic.
