Jump, Skip, Hula

First Lady Mrs. O is taking part in the Healthy Kids Fair on the South Lawn of the White House today. The event promotes exercise and healthy eating for children, and Mrs. O is getting right in the action - jumping rope, hula hooping and running barefoot through an obstacle course. Click here to read Mrs. O's remarks from the event (including Mrs. O's confession that she has a "good relationship with french fries" - in moderation, of course!).
On the style front, Mrs. O is wearing a black dot twist front tank with eyelash trim by Jason Wu, paired with a blue cardigan belted at the waist. Slim black pants complete the look, accessorized with a set of bangle bracelets.

I love this woman. She is so beatiful and carries herself so well. Her hair was just flowing in the air. I am going to wear more belts and sweaters. I think more women are doing the Michelle thing. I do.She wears it well. I am 44 and love running and playing with the kids, girls, ages 11 and 14. Sometimes we makeup dance routines and have so much. Love you Michelle.
Here is the runway shot of the Jason Wu outfit:

As posted earlier she wore the whole outfit (which we assumed was a dress) to stroll Mrs. Brown's garden in London and to the Sotomayor reception, both times with the short sleeved light blue cardigan. And at least in London, she also wore this belt over the cardigan.
When I look at this picture I see that this worldly woman is a Mom first and foremost, a mom whose kids are keeping her "young" and engaged in their lives. I admire this so much in her.
That said, I am still on the "Stamp Out Belts" bandwagon. Her cardigans are usually pretty fitted, so if she just buttoned it up partway it would take care of the blouse flying up--belt NOT needed.
Really like the b/w polka dotted blouse combined with the vibrant blue cardigan though prefer a narrower belt.
You are so right, Babs. The outfit was gorgeous at the Sotomayor confirmation, and no, I didn't think the neckline was too low. The outfit Mrs. O. wore recently with the b/w J. Crew skirt looked great because she wore a much slimmer belt and had the cardigan buttoned up behind the belt. Open cardigans with very wide belts flatter no one, and obfuscates the rest of the greatest outfit.
What a perfectly delightful, refreshing image -- and First Lady! Thoroughly modern and real. Yeah for the end of stuffiness!
i really really like the belt... if she didnt wear the belt.. she would look like everyone else.. hehehehe.. because of her i am exploring my options with belts. they are great accessories.. and love the way she uses them .... i am still trying to find out the shoes.. or one similiar anyone please.....
@ Michelle
Puhleeze......Do you think that the grounds are not cleaned regularly ?and Don't you think that Bo's poop is not picked up after he does his #2?
I do not think she took off her shoes because her feet were hurting. She was just being spontaneous AND what if she puts her feet in poop. I am sure that she will laugh it off, being the humble, fun person that she is. She will not be as grossed out as you.
AND please take off your "Caps Lock"
Regarding Michelle and her caps: I have a vague memory of her explaining a very long time ago that she has impaired vision.
I don't know if she will see this comment or not, but if she does, hopefully she will correct me if my memory is not accurate.
This WH event made prime time news on Japan's rather staid government channel (NHK) yesterday. Favorable comments on FLOTUS for her dynamic personal example of fitness and promotion of healthy eating.
This is a real First Lady! Period! God knows how long I have been praying that our Free World would have witnessed a real First Family! Thank you for answering my prayers God!
I soooooooooooooooooooo love Michelle. I sooooooooooooo admire and respect President Obama, along with the rest of the First Family.
Michelle is so down-to earth and herself. No joke here people. No wonder that President Obama can be and stay so rejuvenated having such a real and dynamic woman as his wife. :)-
As BBC 1 News commented/pointed out yesterday and here I'm quoting the anchor:" Everybody knows that the US First Lady is beautiful, intelligent, and stylish, but now we know that she has/got rhythm as well". Hahahaha…. Love that. :)-
Sheesh. Anyone with a dog has trodden in poo one time or another. If you have a cat, it's stealth catsick. They sneak it in places where you can't see it before you put your foot in it. EsPECially if you decided not to put your slippers on to come down for a glass of water. Not the end of the world. Soap, water, all done.
I see the belt bores are still among us. Here's the thing: Mrs O likes 'em. Deal with it.
Found the video that (was it canyongal?) mentioned - it's pretty cute. I think we had seen the luau bit before but it's still pretty cute. We can bear seeing it again I'm sure!!!

@Christen,
When r u going 2 get it!! Making a comment like "The unnecessary belt ruins what is an otherwise beautiful outfit.". The FLOTUS doesn't care what u or anyone else thinks about HER CHOICE of clothing and accessories. Simply celebrate the greatness that she can make HER OWN CHOICES when it comes to clothing, and that we're not living in a country where others dictate to women what they can and can't put on. If u don't like it for you, that's great, but no need to make such comments implying that our FLOTUS made a bad choice. Why is it bad, because it's not YOUR CHOICE for her. Guess what, our FLOTUS is enjoying herself dressing herself for herself. And by the way, our POTUS loves it too, have you seen how he always looks at her soooo admiringly?!? So when u come to this site, feel free to say what YOU would prefer for YOU, and leave our FLOTUS clothing and accessory choices all to HER!!!

@ Sheryl, please, please, please don't get into a pissing contest with Christen. You are going to loose and we will all have to take cover until it is over. It has been a quiet few days. Leave her alone so that she can express her opinion. Please move on (pleading)
