Sunday Best

Image by Jewel Samad / Getty Images

The first family attended a church service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. this morning. Following the service, the Os walked back to the White House as a family.

On a style note, First Lady Mrs. O re-wore a Moschino skirt that was first debuted for the president's address to congress in early September (thanks BeeGee, for pointing this out). Click here to see the skirt featured in an earlier post. Topping the skirt was an embellished cardigan in coordinating pink and brown, cinched at the waist with a brown ribbon bow. Pink flats completed this very lovely, cohesive look.

Thanks so much for posting my comments.

I just want to say that I'm really, really happy that our First Family goes to church! That's wonderful

That other Mimi: Spot on!

The anonymous nature of the world wide web allows any person to spew under any guise...

For all we know, these are staff/owners of several design houses or so called 'stylists' looking to influence the debate and Mrs Obama's fashion choices one way or the other...

We've seen so many pushes for various designers and 'suggestions' of 'stylists' by posters on this site even if they attempt to make it seem oh quite accidental...

If they can argue loud and long enough that she 'needs help', then maybe she'll break down and hire one of them - they wish...

Some are now arguing that pictures of Mrs Obama in certain outfits might even be used against her and her husband in future campaigns...?! Give me a break!

How preposterous and reaching...

If this self-confident, self-sufficient, amazing, strong, focused, super smart and savvy lady has not yet yielded to the incredible and very public pressure and buckled under it after almost a year in office - her most vulnerable by the way - it should be very clear that she is no push-over and her fashion and style choices will always be on *her* terms!

What's even more mind blowing is the terrible tastes of some these posters as revealed in their specific suggestions and so-called fashion ideas and yet they feel so qualified and categorical in their prononcements on Mrs Obama's style...

Fashion is extremely *subjective* and as long as Mrs Obama is paying for her own clothes, it's pretty simple:

Her money; Her choice...

And she's done a supremely fabulous job!

Not sure if the tights comment was in reference to me. Me outdated? If it makes you feel better honey. I was referring to the discussion that some ppl were saying that at least the girls are wearing tights and not Jeans. Even from the tone of your msg, it seems that you don't have your own style and you follow trends to determine whether your outfit is OK or not. Yes, tights are in. I was actually referring to those saying the girls' wearing leggings are better than the girls' wearing Jeans. And I was saying that Jeans are considered dressier than leggings. I can meet for cocktails in Jeans after hours at a corporate event but would feel a bit underdressed in leggings. I probably wouldn't even go if I couldn't go home and change.

Tights? Sure. Yes, tights can be very fashion forward with the right clothes, especially in this fall weather. I was talking about leggings, which is what the girls have on now. Happy now? Wrong choice of wording but I thought it was pretty obvious we were discussing what we see in the pic. Maybe you may have misunderstood. I was talking about the leggings v. Jeans discussion.

I can guarantee that what you have on that you are so proud of today are TIGHTS, not LEGGINGS, which is what the girls have on in this pic.

CHRYSTELLE: JFK was born on 5/29/1917. Jackie was born on 7/28/1929. With an age difference of 12 years, JFK was HARDLY old enough to be Jackie's "grandfather." Once again, you have proven your lack of knowledge concerning US Presidents and First Ladies. And no, I was not looking for someone to "jump on." It's a real pet peeve of mine when people make statements that are patently untrue.

No where in my post did I mention your name. My post was to Ulanda not you, which I mentioned at the beginning of my post. I defintely know the difference between leggins and tights. And I very much have a fashion style of my own Thank you. However, if something happens to come out in the season that I happen to ALREADY enjoy wearing...more the merrier. Stop assuming and read carefully the next time and maybe you will get it right.

Oh and by the way Original Mrs. A, actually for adults, I would put jeans and leggins in the same category for casual wear. My opinion. Thank you!

...Take it from my hand cause I can't do it on my own.. lol

I'd just like to quote what Mrs. O said about peoples opinions about her clothes

"I know what makes me happy. I pick the clothes that make me happy—sometimes people like them, sometimes they don’t. I try to listen to my own internal guide. My message to women: Do what makes you feel good, because there’ll always be someone who thinks you should do it differently. Whether your choices are hits or misses, at least they’re your own.''

How do you know? Are you in the same room?

Mrs. T,

I tried to find the place in the chat rooms where you spelled out an informal policy regarding the discussion of the Obama girls and their choices of clothing.

It's clear you established this site to celebrate the fashion and style of Mrs. O, but I know we have had several go rounds about discussion of the O girls' attire and demeanor where your preference is we don't get into the "critique" aspect, if I am not mistaken.

Would you mind clarifying your position?

Ms. Tater: Hardly posh. You are becoming really nasty. That quote was in a magazine article that was published recently. Sorry I can't temember the name of the publication, but maybe someone else can.

I initially thought the girls were not dressed properly for church, but it is a different time and generation. Denominations tend to have their own dress codes. Back east, my mother's church which is pentecostal still does the suit and sunday hat, etc. The Obams look great!
