Sneaking a Peek

Photo used with kind permission from Nevada for Health Care
We think Mrs. O looks lovely in this ribbon-embroidered organza overtop she wore last year in Nevada. Combined with the shiny pewter tank underneath, the top gives her face an extra glow. The tiger eye stone earrings, circled in gold, complete the burnished look. These kinds of luxurious metallic neutrals could provide a regal look for Mrs. O's inaugural gown. But we won't know until the evening of January 20th what she will be wearing to the ten official Inauguration Balls.
Until then, though, it is possible to get a sneak peek at what other people will be wearing to the festivities. The site Dress Registry is a handy way for women to record details about what gown (including designer name, color, length, and neckline) they plan to wear to which inauguration fete. Sometimes a photo of the dress is also posted. Every Inauguration Ball is listed on this site and, so far, we see dresses ranging from Badgley Mischka, Chanel, and Dolce & Gabbana to ABS and H&M. We love fashion democracy and what better evening for it to shine than inauguration night.

Another good look; very pretty. Any idea what the rest of the outfit looked like? I'd really love to know what shoes were worn.
I really would love to see the rest of this dress. I wonder if it is a sheath, or if it hits her leg where the Maria Pinto hits her,the one she wore first night at DNC. That is a great length for her. She was a sexy June Cleaver. But this dress probably flares. She is a lovely woman here.
Yes, I'd like to see full shots as well -- head to toe pictures. I am looking forward to seeing what Mrs. O is going to wear during the Inaguration celebrations and ceremonies.
Is there a place that shows all Mrs. O's DNC outfits?
There is a page on this site that showed all of her outfits during the DNC.
Whoa, that Dress Registry site is a crazy cool idea. Haha, all teen girls should register to avoid the inevitable embarrassment of wearing the same dress to Prom, eh?

So far I have been unable to find a photo of Mrs. O that shows more of this outfit. But I'm still searching.
Hey, could guys do a post of Michelle wearing suits? She only does it occasionally, but they are always very quirky. Like this adorable, high-waisted number she wore a few months ago:

And this amazing sporty suit:

Once again Mrs. O's shine and sheen is apparent.
Her dress glows, her skin gleams. She seems to emanate light.
Her incandescence is a physical marvel.
I just checked out the dress registry - fascinating.
Someone is planning to wear a gold Marc Jacobs cocktail dress to the Constitution Ball, two women seem to be wearing the same rose colored Chanel dress to another ball. Someone is going to wear ' Channel ' to another.
I also saw several Versace frocks listed. Lots of Ralph Lauren.
I wonder if anyone will wear vintage ?
Gloria5, here's the full outfit for your viewing pleasure ;) http://obama.3cdn.net/fcf98d55c532f27042_vbm6yx9je.JPG
I think that's actually chantilly lace.
Love the full pic -- the wool pants make the whole look totally modern!
Thanks, Suji, for the full length photo. And yes, as Tuffy points out, it is a very modern look.
That dress registry site is fun. There are an awful lot of strapless and shoulder-bearing dresses registered for inaugural parties, though. I hope these ladies remember to bring a shawl!
Couldn't express impression of photo better than RJT! The coloring of this pic (just like the Vogue spread) is downright mesmerizing. Thanks, Suji, for the full outfit view. Thanks, Mrs. C, for the great pic and awareness of the dress registry. Should be fun to check periodically as we await 1/20!
Thanks, Suji! The light colored suit with the zipper front makes Mrs. O exude such youth. Thanks for uploading that one, Jennal.
Am I the only one who thinks this might be a tad too sexy for a meeting with Nevada Health Care? Still, I love the contrast of the lace and metallic tank with the wool pants. It's very hip urban office. I would say, though, that I wish the sleeves were a little more flattering. Maybe some trim instead of cutting them straight like a t-shirt? A small quibble, to be sure. Hooray for interesting outfits!
I have spent the better part of the last week just
sketching clothes I think Michelle O would look good
in..and I believe a-line with bare shoulders in
royal purple would be marvelous. I am just a housewife..
waiting for my first look at the Obamas...
I think it's very appropriate. The sex appeal comes from the woman in this case, definitely not the clothes.
I love the lace blouse, it looks vintage than the pants tone it down for day. I am going to the Inaguration, don't know which parties we'll attend but I will be wearing lots of vintage and passing out business cards for Antigone's Room www.myspace.com/antigonesroom
