While we thought every last detail of Mrs. O's Inaugural wardrobe had been catalogued and commented on, it seems at least one additional designer name has surfaced.
InStyle informs us that underneath her Isabel Toledo coat, Mrs. O wore a yellow mohair cardigan from French design house Nina Ricci on Inauguration Day.
Above we get just a peek of the cardigan, pinned closed at the neckline by Mrs. O's vintage brooch from Carole Tanenbaum (plus an adorable shot of the ever playful Sasha Obama). For a better view of the cardigan, check out this beautiful behind-the-scenes
photo essay from Callie Shell for
Time magazine.
Of note, Mrs. O wore at least two pieces from French designers through the course of the Inauguration (the cardigan above, as well as her black wool swing coat from Sonia Rykiel). If anything, this serves as yet another testament to Mrs. O's incredibly fine-tuned style acumen.

I absolutley love my Forst ladies style and the type of designers she choses to use
Nice site! You should check out mrsobamasdress.com
Mrs T, have you seen any mention of who Laura Bush was wearing that day? Her style is so soft and toned down (much like her), yet the cut of that suit is impeccable. The matching coat she wore over it was nice, too. They remind me of the de la Renta outfit she wore for her husband's second inauguration, but I don't think they're the same one.
Oh my gosh - in photo number 4, it appears he is holding her gloves...
swoon
Here is a pretty clear picture of the cardigan. It's gorgeus!:

My mistake! I see Mrs. T had linked to that picture already.
hahahaha! What is Sasha doing in that picture? She's just too adorable.
Find out who made the dress she is wearing tosay. SHE LOOKS GORGEOUS in this dress!! She went to lunch with Jill Biden today.
Mohair is absolutely one of the warmest, most light-weight fibers out there. It's my go-to for cold weather.
It looks like an assymetrical neckline in blue jersey, with a teal cardigan, belted in darker blue embossed leather. I love that blue tweed, portrait-collar coat! It looks lined in a cream plaid. I think she's wearing the green Jimmy Choo pumps with it, too.

ooh la la! That is a phenomenal dress! I love the color and the asymmetrical neckline. And you can just barely make out a dark green cardigan underneath. Mrs. O does love her cardigans!
And, as always, I am all about the shoes. Here is a good picture of them: http://www.daylife.com/photo/05JvgbmclF9lq/michelle_obama
They're like a grass green, not as dark as the ones she wore for the Inauguration but a similar shade.
I love that Mrs O mixes French designers w/ her all American ensembles - that is chic.
And to think of our First Lady wearing Nina Ricci makes me swoon - she is so fashion aware.
The outfit today is so minimal yet decorative due to cut and neckline – wonderful colors.
there's a photo of Mrs. O during the luncheon and the sweater is very visible in that photo.
Elena, didn't you ever do that when you were a kid? And sing, "Up in the air, junior birdman! Up in the air, upside down!"
eM, thank you for pointing out that number 4 TIME photo. That is tooo endearing. No way Mr. O is faking that. That is just too sweet. You can tell they are in this life together. Just watch, marriage will make a comeback. Marriage, come back!
I had assumed that was just the J. Crew sweater she had worn before being worn again.
The J Crew sweater looks more casual. The inaugural sweater looks softer, and more high end.
I love Michelle, but she needs to learn to remove the right glove before shaking hands.
Fantastic color and outfit, wonderful paste jewelry at the neck. Only thing slightly distracting and unfunctional - the scarf.
The green of the shoes was too far off from the green of the dress, gloves and cardi, but all in all a wonderful, fashionable appearance on a wonderful day!
Oh! So that's what the underlayer was. I was thinking maybe it was some sort of scarf or vest sewn into the lining....
I just adore that in Picture Number 4 of the photo essay Barack is holding Michelle's gloves. Theirs is such a wonderful relationship. It's the kind of thing my dad would do for my mum, and my husband for me.
As for the outfit, I think M.O. looked amazing on the day. It was all perfect, she looked radiant, and somehow she managed to look glorious AND warm! No mean achievement!
Hi from Cape Town.
The Mohair used came from South Africa!!!
Some mohair in cardigan from Cranemere farm in Pearston, near Graaff-Reinette (Eastern Cape)!
And people complained about how much $ was spent on Sarah Palin?????????? The gown and the jewels the first lady wore.. funny how no one talks about how expensive those were! Oh, the hypocrisy.
hi, I just want to say she has a beautiful soul and her family is my inspiration to get strong and lovely with mine. The elegance is natural from her.
