Mrs. O on J. Crew: "We ladies know"
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 10:55 AM Mrs. O made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night wearing yet another J. Crew ensemble. Mrs. O was at her most stylish in this look. A bold yellow, classic lines, all put together with personal flair. Mrs. O was dressed head to toe (or knee that is) in J. Crew. She wore the Italian Deco tank, Crystal-button colorblock cardigan in Silver Honey and Metallic cloque pencil skirt (Update: the skirt appears to be the Pembridge-dot pencil skirt in Yellow Gold. The color is available exclusively through the J. Crew Collection store.) Mrs. O added a bit of sparkle with a multi-colored jeweled brooch to close her cardigan.
When Mr. Leno brought up the subject of Mrs. O's style, "I want to ask you about your wardrobe. I'm guessing about $60-grand? $60-, $70,000 for that outfit?" Mrs. O replied, "Actually this is a J. Crew ensemble. We ladies, we know with J. Crew. You can get some good stuff online." Mr. Leno, perhaps surprised to hear about Mrs. O's online shopping habits then asked, "Do you order it online? Doesn't that take the fun out of it?" to which Mrs. O replied, "When you don't have time, you've got to click." Mrs. O has been spotted in J. Crew at least three times in the past few weeks. Last night's ensemble, however, was by far our favorite. The best part? The tank and cardigan are now on sale. As a side note, there was a great retrospective on J. Crew as part of a profile on Creative Director Jenna Lyons in this month's Domino Magazine - worth a quick peruse.

Morning! The skirt is not the Metallic cloque, it's the Pembridge-dot pencil skirt, $148.00, Item 99737. Interestingly, the Pembridge-dot dress comes in a color called key lime and I'm thinking the skirt Michelle has on might be that color, which is more yellowy. A Key Lime skirt is not available online - maybe it's store only or a custom item for Michelle.

I have the metallic Cloque. The way it looks in the catalog & online is a bit different in real life. It really has a quilted, 3 dimensional look to it that the Pembridge does not. Plus, you can see the disk pattern on her skirt vs. the peacock-like pattern of the Cloque. It's the color that throws me, which looks similar to the Cloque, but, I think I read somewhere today that it is a store-only skirt.

I love that color on Mrs. Obama - she looks stunning. I think bright colors makes her skin glow more vibrantly. She's a stunner.

I'm not much of a JCrew fan, as I like more bohemian styles, but I have to say Mrs. O looks fantastic in this yellow ensemble! Yellow is a great color for her. I'm trying to wear more of it myself, so this is very inspiring!
I waited up just to see what Michelle Obama would wear on Jay Leno. Love this chick and I love JCrew. She has style and it show. Why am I thinking about Neyo's "Miss Independent"?....fly effortlessly...

Vivian, may I ask what is wrong with being infatuated with Mrs O. She is a GREAT role model for me, and if have have daughters in the future, for them, and millions more around the world. Harvard educated, princeton educated, great mother, great wife, great career women, and to top it off, she dresses fabulously! Would you rather we idolize people like paris hilton?
get used to it, Mrs O is here to stay, and WE LOVE HER. And I am confident she will grow into the Jackie O of our time.
