Taking Florida by Storm

Photo used with kind permission from photographer Steven Gray
Mrs. O made two campaign stops in the Sunshine State yesterday, first joining Senator Obama at a rally in Miami and later speaking at the Pensacola Civic Center. Mrs. O kept the top half of her look quite basic, layering a white tank underneath a long brown cardigan. The signature Hope and Peace necklaces we've grown accustomed to seeing in past weeks were on this occasion joined by two more. What's the story behind these necklaces and the new additions, we wonder? Mrs. O added interest to the look with a full brown pleated skirt and two-tone Miu Miu flats in chestnut and salmon pink. The fullness of the skirt paired with the fitted top gives the look well balanced proportions, while the splash of color at the toe adds a bit of extra interest.

Barack watch out! i have a madd crush on Mrs.O. My co-worker recites one of the Ten Comandments as a reminder of the obvious.....lol! Mrs.O is about to set Lady D like fashion trends in her term as our First Lady. This is coming from a man that knows nothing about fashion. Mrs.O turns a simple look into an "awe" moment!
I have to say that I don't think this dark gray is a good color for Mrs. O. I watched the Pensacola appearance video online. The color didn't bring out the highlights in her hair, and was just generally blah. The shape of the skirt was great, but the sweater-over-tanktop, which was what you say over the podium, looked way to casual. I can se why she wanted to be comfortable, because she was wearing the same outfit many hours later in Miami, so the knits were probably practical. Maybe if there was some color the outfit would have worked better.
I LOVE this look! Though I think she should wear a much shorter cardigan with it. I have to try this! It's very pretty but unique and fashion-forward too.
