On the eve of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the President and First Lady visited Arlington National Cemetery to remember military personnel who have been killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars since the terrorist attacks in 2001.

The First Lady attended the US Open in New York City today, where it was a mix of work and play (though both looked like fun!). Mrs. O supported her Let's Move initiative with a tennis clinic and watched Andy Murray of Great Britain and John Isner of the US in the Men's Quarterfinal match.

For the president's speech on jobs to a joint session of Congress last evening, Mrs. O returned to a classic: the magenta Maria Pinto sheath dress last worn on the night in 2008 when her husband secured the Democratic nomination for president. A House of Lavande vintage jeweled belt and upswept hairstyle updated the look.
Those who have been following Mrs. O's style for some time of course know the name Maria Pinto well. The recession forced the designer to close her business in 2010. Since then, Pinto has assumed the role of Creative Director for Mark Shale in Chicago.
Karl Lagerfeld to USA Today:
"I love Madame Obama, but not in terms of clothes," says Lagerfeld, sipping on Diet Coke, the only caffeine he drinks. "I like her face, the cleverness of her face. Her face is stronger than the clothes."
