HealthierUS School Challenge

Photo by Carolyn Kaster / AP Images

Yesterday was a jam-packed day for the First Lady. After the Joining Forces appearance, Mrs. O hosted a White House event to honor schools that helped to meet the goal of doubling the number of participants in the HealthierUS School Challenge in a year.

For the afternoon event, Mrs. O wore a pink print dress and adorned with a bow pin.

Update: Mrs. O wears a Target Merona Collection Taren Woven Dress, available here. (Thanks for the links ladies!) The dress appears to have been lengthened for the First Lady, as the full-length dress can be seen here. The bow may also look familiar to some. The First Lady paired it with a Thakoon dress for her Ten at Ten segment on the Jay Leno Show in 2009, seen here.

Pretty in Pink

This morning, First Lady Mrs. O and Dr. B appeared at a Joining Forces event in Washington, D.C. The ladies were on site at the home of Sergeant Johnny Agbi to mark the 1,000th home that Sears Holdings and Rebuilding Together have refitted for our wounded warriors through the Heroes at Home Project.

Both Mrs. O and Dr. B gave remarks, and also rolled up their sleeves, helping to repaint the interior of Sergeant Agbi's home. Style wise, casual chic was the look du jour. Mrs. O paired jeans with a pink striped oxford shirt, while Dr. B opted for jeans and an Army t-shirt.

Fashion Fights Cancer

I was excited to learn (and thought you might be too) that three of Mrs. O's go-to designers, Tracy Reese, Monique Péan and Byron Lars, have teamed up with Fashion Fights Cancer, an organization dedicated to "nurturing the minds, bodies and souls of cancer patients and survivors through design-oriented activities." As part of The Global Fashion Fight Design Series, each designer worked with patients from the Beth Israel Medical Center to create scarves, totes and bracelets. The products will be reproduced and made available to the public through Fashion Fights Cancer in coming weeks.

In the meantime, the organization is holding an upcoming charity benefit and sample sale, The Global Fight!, at 25CPW Gallery in New York City from October 25-27. You can find more information on the events here. Enjoy!

The First Lady released videos on the White House YouTube channel last week to thank Facebook and Twitter fans of Let's Move. Bonus: there's a fabulous mixed print blouse in the mix! Thanks to "A MI Mom" for spotting this!

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Photo by Carolyn Kaster / AP Images

The First Family appeared at the dedication cermeony of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C. today. On the fashion front, Mrs. O wore a cranberry-hued dress by Alaia. A cardigan and pin at the waist completed the look. We've seen this dress once before, in September 2010, here.

Update: Mrs. O wears an Alexis Bittar Resort bowtie pin.
