Mrs. O Dazzles in Byron Lars

Music legend Paul McCartney was at the White House last night June 2 to accept the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song -- and to serenade Mrs. O with The Beatles classic "Michelle."
For the occasion, Mrs. O turned to a pale pink colored dress by designer Byron Lars, worn with an embellished belt at the waist. No photos seem to have surfaced quite yet (perhaps because the event won't appear on PBS until a later date?) but you can sneak a peek of the dress in the video above.
Per the Pool Report:
FLOTUS wore a short frock that is a color called "blush" and appeared to be made of satin. The designer is Byron Lars, a male designer who bills himself as making "twisted American classics." The dress had a cowl-necked collar and her belt was adorned with large jewels. As she sat, you could see a little pink petticoat peeking out over her knee.
UPDATE: PBS will air In Performance at the White House, Celebrating the Music of Paul McCartney this evening. The program airs at 8 p.m. ET on PBS stations nationwide, followed by an encore presentation at 9:30 p.m.
Not only will this be a great program to catch, it's also a second chance to see Mrs. O's stunning Byron Lars dress. And better yet, Mrs. O readers have a chance to purchase the dress (now available in Blush or Grey) at 20% 25% off from Carina New York, HERE. Instructions from Carina New York:

You can tell from that last picture Nyon posted that it is HOT out here! 91 degrees in May -- by August it will be 150.
@Nyon - Thanks for sharing those fabulous pictures.
UPDATED MRS OBAMA WAS WEARRING TWO NICE TOPS TODAT THR FRIST IS A WHITE T-SHIRT WITH SPOTS THE OTHER SHE WEAR BEFORE IT WAS HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT IN DC AND SHE WAS SWEATTING UP A STOME WHILE SHE WAS WORKING WITH THE KIDS IN HER GRADEN.
Thank you Mrs. T for your comment. I was becoming a bit disenchanted with the political slant this fashion blog is taking. I too am an early follower to this blog and I enjoy it immensely when the focus
is placed on the fashion aspect for which this blog was intended.
Score a perfect ten for the dress, the fabulous color and the accessories. Mrs. O is
absolutely glowing. I too love the movement of the dress when she walks. I wish I could see a close up of her shoes.
This dress is so lovely! Mrs. O. looks amazging as usual.
Let me correct my comment so that it is factually correct. I mean to say, most of the events of the award are held at the Library of Congress. The White House is the last stop.
Lars big time was in the 90s, as I understand it. He also has a collection of Barbie Dolls that he's designed. I posted about this yesterday, but it never made it. Google Byrol Lars and Barbie and you'll find it.
I just looked at the Let's Move chef event pictures from today on the link Nyon posted. Is the white patterned t-shirt she's wearing while standing at the podium on the South Lawn a Rachel Roy? I noticed the big black line down the back and it reminded me of the pink-bodice dress she wore in Mexico back in April.
ONLY $316?!! Only? Really? I'm a bargain shopper and all my even more expensive pieces I found at a bargain. I would look around and find it or a similar style on sale/ clearance for less.
Mrs. O likes gardening in that top. The veggies look nice and healthy. Wonder how many times she visits the garden if it is not for a photo Op. She's inspired me to work on my own backyard garden. Just beginning. Just put in the black soil but I am planting tomatoes, peppers, carrots, green peppers and herbs. Oh and plantain and orange trees too.
O'Couture: Where have you been? Haven't you been reading any newspapers or watching the news? The whole gulf disaster started when the BP oil well blew, KILLING 11 AMERICANS!! I am shocked that no one else caught this glaring error.
On another note, did anyone else check out the other Byron Lars designs at the Carina site that we were directed to by Mrs T.? The two "leopard lace" designs are absolutely beautiful and would look
fabulous on Mrs. O.!
Fabulous!!!
Thanks to all the ladies that posted sites where our First Lady is wearing this beautiful dress. She looks absolutely stunning! Might I add that Mr. President Barack Obama is a very handsome man!
Ditto to Paul McCartney's statement!
I love the dress too. Mrs.O looks lovely as usual. I would love to see more designs from Byron Lars. The sites I have visited so far only had a few dresses. I'll have to do some more searching later. I love how Mrs.O wears a variety of designers. Yes, she seems to have some reoccurring favorites. But she also finds gems like this from designers that we may not have heard much about. I bet his phone is ringing off the hook. And he's probably on cloud nine that Mrs.O chose to wear one of his designs.
I am sure most posters were aware that 11 people were killed as a result of the oil rig explosion, but Mrs. T asked that we not comment on political issues on this thread, so my guess is that posters did not respond to the inadvertent error in order to stave off a long discussion that was not connected to fashion.
Love the blush dress. On the gulf situation, he doesnt want to remind people of Bush at a birthday party, strumming a guitar while people drowned in N.O. Just sayin.
July 28th on PBS, I can't wait to see McCartney singing his song "Michelle" to the First Lady, Michelle.
Yes!!! I have said from day one that I thought Mr. Byron Lars was the perfect designer for Mrs. Obama, and I am ecstatic that he has broken through to her. I can see her in one of his signature white dress shirts, black pencil pants and flats. Oh my I am so excited by this. I own a few Lars pieces including a vintage suede track jacket. He is Olege Cassini to Michelle Obama (Cassini was Jackie O's designer). This is such a perfect match!
Mrs. T deserves repect. She politely asked that political commentary be taken to the chat room. How simple is it to oblige?
Beautiful dress!!!, and I see that my last post concerning the lack of African-American designers being represented, must have been heard by the First Lady. Thank you, and let's continue to represent the diversity of the American quilt.
I too am a HUGE fan of Byron Lars and I have had a very positive experience buying other designer fashions at Carina New York. Maria does a great job with customer service. So, I'll be getting my pre-order for this dress when it comes out.
I buy my Lars pieces at Blush, a boutique on Bleecker Street in New York City. I go there specifically to seek his clothes out. Good luck.
Is the belt JCrew?
The dress is SO pretty, and I love the blush color. It complements her skin tone so well and is youthful without being inappropriately so. Very classy:)

Mrs A: That is $252.80 with the 20% discount.........:)
She looks beautiful, but with all due respect, once the FLOTUS wears a dress, I would not spend money on the same identifiable frock. As a fashion follower myself, I like my outfits to be individual and not derivative and, as her fashion receives so much media and blog coverage, you will only ever be wearing that dress Michelle Obama wore. If you already own it that's one thing, but to buy an expensive dress and have the commentary be "oh, you have the same dress as FLOTUS" seems to me to be the opposite of fashion forward-- more like fashion groupie. I love to see what she is wearing, but once she wears it, I can't see myself buying it. Emulating her style is one thing. Buying her same dresses-- not so much...
Just saw the WH Performance tonight. Watched it another (additional!) half hour as it looped on PBS, just to see the entrance of the POTUS & FLOTUS, which I missed the first time around. My two, perhaps three favorite moments: Mrs O's entrance, which showed her beautiful dress to great advantage; Paul's serenade to Michelle, notre belle, who smiled as we all, me included, sang along (somehow, when I was younger and didn't know this song quite so well, I missed all the French lyrics as well as the accordion -- fun!); and Jerry Seinfeld's jokes, though they were not terribly appropriate for the young ears of the two Obama girls, who at times looked a bit bewildered at what he was saying. (I know I'm being a bit conservative here, but the marriage jokes weren't exactly G-rated). Will look forward to photos, Mrs T, when you can post them. And where were the Bidens?
Enjoyable program! Hubby and I were singing right along. Mrs. O looking fabulous in Byron Lars! And Mrs. Robinson, looking more like the FLOTUS' sister, looked wonderful as well.
This PBS Special was fabulous! It's amazing to see how much love the President, the First Lady and their children get! God Bless America!
Beautiful dress. Beautiful family. Beautiful evening. I love the class and dignity that the Obamas have brought back to the White House.
