Nice Day for a Picnic

Image by Yuri Gripas / AP Photos
The president and first lady attended the Congressional Picnic on the South Lawn of the White House today. For the event, Mrs. O reprised her floral Tracy Reese dress, last seen in Mexico, here, paired with beaded bracelets and 'jelly' flats.

So pretty! Get that dog to obedience classes tho.
When I saw her in this dress in Mexico, I just knew I had to have it. It is a great dress, and I love the fact that she's wearing it again! It's super comfortable -- I just wore it to a baby shower over the weekend and got a ton of compliments.
Lovely! How "casually elegant" (as I call it). She looks cool, calm, collected and comfty!
Love the bracelets.
I think, tho, what I really like about this picture is the fact that she and the Pres are holding hands. It is so nice to have a couple in the White House who are clearly best friends and enjoy each other.
I think today is Sasha's B-Day, so I wanted to say Happy Birthday to Mrs. O youngest baby!!
What a picture!!!!!!!
Oh yes today is little Sasha's birthday Happy Birthday Sweetie.
she just gets better and better. She simply glows with life, energy and joy.
U can tell they really do love each other just He doesn't cheat
Here is Mrs. O looking lovely at the graduation today:

Pics on yahoo of Mrs.O with tears in her eyes. I am searching for video now.
I saw the pictures lovely...I hope there is a video I would love to see it. One of my co worker's son is graduating from that school she said security is so tight its not even fun. We have got to keep our beloved Flotus safe.
If anyone can find the video, I know it will be you, Nyon. So I'm thanking you in advance. I teared up myself when I read that the tears appeared as she was speaking about her Mom and how she always encouraged her (and her brother) to exceed. Love the powder blue sheath and the smooth way it's fitting her.
I, too, love the pics we have of the lovely Mrs. O in her altogether summery light blue sheath. I do not recall her wearing this color before for a total look such as this one. The color is beautiful on her, and the fit is altogether flattering. The double pearls work well. I, likewise, tear up at even the thought of Mrs. O mentioning her mom. It's probably just as well that I can't view the video!
On a mother note, though, this gives me the opportunity to share a story I hope my fellow posters will enjoy. During a phone conversation with my own mother yesterday (she turned 79 on the 5th--she is in CA, I am in IN), Mother was altogether delighted to tell me that the son of a friend of hers is: 1) a chef in Connecticut; 2) that he had been invited to attend the recent gathering of chefs at the White House; and 3) !!! that he had been one of ten chefs invited to have lunch with Mrs. O after the general gathering. Great stuff indeed! Apparently he is working on a project that will include and encourage urban kids in the whole process of growing things, getting them to market, the restaurant trade, and so forth. He, according to what was conveyed to me, was rather agog at having been asked to participate at all, and was all the more excited to have the opportunity to meet Mrs O (even as he was seriously intimidated!). When it happened, he felt she was interested in him, not just generally, but specifically, and in his particular project. She had taken the time to learn something about him. She even asked after his two children! Somehow none of this surprises me.
When this topic was broached--by my mother--it was great to be able to say, "Oh yes!" As if I might have been there myself--ha. At some point in the conversation I said, "I know what she was wearing!" It was a great exchange all 'round. These sorts of connections are indeed happening, and in my book, they are serious and important connections, even as they are enjoyable.
That blue dress in graduation is so nice!
Well, I don't know about that Asereht, but I try ;-)
So, I have yet to find any video. I found this link on c span and it says it has not aired yet and accordding to the schedule, it will be airing at 7 pm eastern time. I think you can either watch it on C span 3 or this link. I hope it works. If not, hopefully the White House website will put up the video.

Since I love seeing, and hearing, Mrs. O speak, I bookmarked the C-Span link, I'm holding out for the video. But, in case it doesn't show up, here's a Plan B..........a link to the text version.

Thank you Janelle because I don't think the C span link worked. So, I watched it on tv. Did I choke up? YES, I did!! People can say what they want, but they can't say that Mrs. O is not genuine. The lady is real through and through and I love her for it.

Thanks for posting the link to the speech!! it was wonderful, and I know those children will never forget it.
Wow, I just finished catching up on the evenings posts, and watching the video (thanks Janelle) and what a wonderful message! Between hearing Mrs. O speak so eloquently, and with sincere, heartfelt emotion about her parent’s sacrifices, and re –reading your post JMH, about the exchange you had with your Mom, I was not surprised to find myself feeling like one big giant tear duct. I think the common denominator in both instances, was the love and acknowledgement being expressed about the Mom’s. I lost mine over 30 years ago and I still miss her dearly to this day.
During some interviews, I’ve often heard the question asked…what person living or dead would you most like to meet/have met? There are so many wonderful people that come to mind that, when trying to come up with one, I’ve always been at a loss to choose. If pressed to answer it right now, I think having just one dinner with the ladies (all 3 generations) who now occupy the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Whitehouse would be way up there on my list. Nyon is absolutely right. Mrs. O is as genuine as they come!!!!
Mrs. T, how did you miss this lovely orange pant suit Mrs. O wore? Talk about bold and daring. And once again, she pulls it off.
If you go to the Embassy of Denmark's web site you'll see many activities and photos of Princess Mary - another fashionista! I was waiting to see a reception for them (and gorgeous clothing) or at least a greet and meet photo at the White House with Mrs. Obama. There was nothing scheduled with the Prince and Princess? When the President and Mrs. Obama visited Denmark there were many activities and opportunities to see beautiful gowns and dresses. This is a bit strange that there is not a single photo op with Mrs. Obama and of course with the President!
I LOOOOVE that orange suit. Just love it. Cheers me up.
I love the orange suit too, especially with the Hattie Carnegie pin! Unfortunately the photos were not released on Getty, AP, Reuters or Flickr, therefore I can't post. Apologies!
I was so inspired by Mrs. O's beautiful take on remixing and shopping her own closet that I had to post about it! This woman does not need to do that, and for any woman looking to be all that she can be no matter the times (economic) or season (of her life) Mrs. O is simply perfection.
Oh and I love love Tracy Reese.
They are the CUTEST couple!!! I love this shot of them running. She just looks stunning as always, but I love that they are so down to earth and relatable. They just remind me of my friends :)
caballo falls dress by athropologie looks inspired by this look
Does anyone know who makes the beaded bracelets that she is wearing? They look like Sally Sohn.
Hi ladies. FYI: Tracy Reese is having a sale. I bough this dress in the orange color for $165.
