A Stroll Through the Honolulu Zoo

Photo by Kent Nishimura / Getty Images

Before boarding Air Force One to return to Washington, D.C. last evening, the first family enjoyed a tour of the Honolulu Zoo as their vacation in Hawaii came to a close. First Lady Mrs. O dressed in a vibrant blue shirt dress for the visit.

Update #1: Mrs. O wears a blue cotton poplin shirtdress from Narciso Rodriguez's Resort 2010 collection.

Update #2: Despite mixed opinions in the comments section, I wanted to note that Vogue.com has named Mrs. O the best dressed of the week for this Narciso Rodriguez number, writing of the first lady and her best-dressed company: "It seems there is no particular dress code for these adventurous, fiercely fashionable women." In regard to the post about the President's shirt being too big: I checked it out and another poster was correct that that is how they are worn. If you pay attention you'll see that most men, at least those that appear on television, wear polo shirts on the big side with the sleeves coming almost to the elbow.

julied, you're reading something that isn't there into my comments. I've posted plenty of positive comments on outfits I've loved because this site is about the outfits, not the person wearing them. The only time I'm accused of "sharpness" and being overly critical or disliking the FLOTUS is when I don't like something she wears. That's nuts. Everyone posting here has the right to express whether or not they like a particular outfit or look. Sorry, but you're off the mark regarding me, as are a handful of others who post on this site regularly but seem to come completely (and I do mean completely) unglued if anyone expresses their dislike of an outfit Mrs. O is wearing. I often wonder if they're that rude to their bosses, spiritual leaders, neighbors and family if anyone "dares to disagree" with them.

Read the comment river rush made. He's absolutely right.

@Debra, regarding the Pres's polo shirts. I think it is fine that they are big, I def don't want to see him in a baby polo. The problem for me is that he tucks them in. IMO, if he is going to wear them big then he needs to leave them untucked. And of course, he can't do that because then people will try to call him out for being sloppy or something. This polo in this pic is actually good and it is more close to his body because he has worn some that were just way too big. But like I said before he still looks good no matter what.

I think the FLOTUS has actually teased the POTUS on his total lack of interest in what he wears and how long he keeps a pair of shoes. It's cute. My hubby did the shirt tucking/belt thing too, until our girls were older and did their fashion-police thing! Malia and Sasha will probably do the same when they're older. My husband is like the POTUS, though. Whatever he wears, he always looks healthy and in shape.

Hi Juliede,

I agree with you 100% re the negative posters.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I can't believe the rude comments your former co-worker made about your children, you are a saint for putting up with her so long. After reading your commentary it made me chuckle a little, because I could imagine myself in your shoes and the words I would have for that meanie LOL.

Take care.

With Peace,
Melz

You are so spot on Juliede. Unfortunately there are so many sick and warped people out there determined to take as many people as they can with them into that dark and severely unhappy place where they permanently reside.
I see Canyongal is still up to her antics. Very amusing. She can keep trying but no one is falling for her crap.
Commenting a trillion times while feigning some wierd and seriously contrived stab at some version of fashion commentary/discourse is not only tedious but eye rolling worthy. We STILL see you missy. Ain't fooling nobody.

I love this wonderful family - it is such a fresh breeze in the White House!

Mrs. O's dress is simple and cute and well chosen for a visit at the zoo. The blue color is stunning and I love to see Mrs. O in these wonderful bright colors. The children are adorable as usual and I also love their dressing style. They are growing so fast. I wish for the entire family and especially for Mr. President all the best.

I am a great supporter of this site, I am also Haitian with relatives close and distant living there who may or may not be affected by this disaster. Thank you for caring.

@fan: I am praying for you and for your loved ones! Mrs. T posted something today about Haiti. Why don't you post a comment there so that more people can be aware of your situation and pray? God bless. Let us all know what you find out - praying for the best.
