A Feathery Frock

The President and First Lady Mrs. O are back from the Pittsburgh Summit, attending the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Phoenix Awards Dinner in Washington, DC last evening. Mrs. O debuted a new black cocktail dress for the occasion.
Update: As several people suggested in the comments, we've confirmed that the First Lady's dress is in fact a Jason Wu design. Fabulous!

She's got a great smile in this pic.
WOW! What a winning look. What I particularly like is that this dress, essentially a "cage" dress, appears to be a little looser than others she was worn. It's a classic look and it works very well on her figure. Like to see it adapted for other occasions. I wish she would take some of her most successful pieces and ask the designers to make adaptations for her in different fabrics, lengths, necklines etc.
I truly agree that this dress is made of a lovely fabric but the silhouette does nothing for Mrs. Obama's figure. It is basically a tent dress and has no accent on her waist or bust.
Peggy, I don't think a well-shaped woman has to emphasize her waist or bust all the time. Sometimes a little intrigue is a good thing.
Coveting those diamond bangles. They're so elegant and versatile. Of course mine would have to be imitation...lol
Simply STunning!!!!! Mrs. O has impeccable taste and as I stated before she can wear almost anything her height and frame make it possible to do so.... I LOVE THIS DRESS!!!!!!
Stunning as usual!
OK - this was AMAZING. Hit it out of the park. Wish I had that dress!
I finally saw a short video clip of this dress in motion on CNN. It appears that there are a few rhinestones scattered on the dress that sparkle as she moves -- not overdone, but just enough to delight.
I visit the site daily but hesitate to post because it seems there must be complete adoration, almost worship, for FLOTUS and her clothing or you are crucified. I'll just keep reading and keep my opinions to myself. Enjoy the site, Mrs. T. Thanks for the great job that you do!
Another look at this dress

No Elena, we don't "adore or almost worship" Mrs. Obama as a deity, but we do like and admire her a lot. We just ask that you show respect for Mrs. Obama even if you don't like what she is wearing. I think that you can tell the difference.
People who come here to attack her personally, blame her for risking peoples lives because of what she wears or her body shape are just not welcome. There are other blogs where that can be done freely.
very nice, this is a good look
