Honoring Justice Sotomayor

The President and First Lady hosted a reception at the White House this afternoon honoring the newly sworn in Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
Mrs. O wore an ensemble we've seen once before, when the first lady toured the gardens at 10 Downing with Sarah Brown in mid-June, seen here. Mrs. O topped her ivory and black patterned dress with a turquoise cardigan, embellishing the look with turquoise accessories. The turquoise starburst brooch is the same Erickson Beamon piece first seen during the Democratic National Convention last August. A stack of turquoise and pearl beaded bracelets completed the look.
We don't yet know the designer of Mrs. O's dress, but hope to have an update soon! Update: Mrs. O wears a black dot twist front tank with eyelash trim, paired with a black embroidered dot micro-pleated skirt, both by Jason Wu.

So glad the black belt died. This is now a cute little ensemble that works.
The colors of the dress and accessories are very pretty on Mrs. Obama-- but I would have not worn the bracelets for this ceremony. I feel they are too juvenile and a bit "girlish" for a First Lady, especially for that reception. For casual dressing, they are just fine.
Mrs. Obama would have looked much better with real gold, pearls, or silver bracelets. I also feel the dress was too short. Too casual for my taste - but overall she looked nice and summery..
Love the look. The cardigan has brought her waist down again. Mrs. O looks enchanting to say the least.
I love the turquiose sweater against her beautiful skin but the dress isn't my favorite and the brooch isn't great. Still she is so classy!! She should wear that blue more often
SO MUCH BETTER without the belt!! Like this, it is truly a lovely dress. Maybe a tiny bit on the short side.
The dress is too short for the FLOTUS or any lady her age, for that matter. It actually makes her look oversized.
I love this outfit. The v-neckline is extremely flattering, the skirt is soft and flowing, and the color combination unexpected and beautiful. I give it a 10!
she looks so lovely!
@ Mara - Sarah Brown is the British Prime Minister's wife, not a/the 'British First Lady' who if there ever was one would be HRH Queen Elizabeth herself.
