The Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the National Design Awards today. First Lady Mrs. O, the honorary patron for the awards program, is hosting a White House ceremony and luncheon for the winners and finalists of the 2009 awards this afternoon. For the event, Mrs. O has chosen a sunny yellow jacket and skirt.

Why is it that my posts aren't posted ?
To my eyes, something is not alright, may be the color (I used to go for this type of all yellow look once, but now I know better - i.e., that it looks a bit, how shall I put it, not classy), may be the cut of the blouse, but I like the skirt.

Opfan - I DID laugh!!! Was it us? How funny. Oh I don't need an argument - I don't even want a debate. That's where I am... it's not even interesting. (Sorry I scared you - that would never have been my intention. Probably. Possibly.)
Rae - no-one is ahead of the game because they use belts. Belts have been in the fashion lexicon for hundreds of years. Belts the way Mrs O wears them (high waisted, over a cardigan) have been in high street fashion in the UK for about four years. It came in as the bow wave of the eighties reprise.
And..... a shawl kills an outfit? Well. Bang goes the Indian industry for embroidered shawls and pashmina, commanding hundreds of pounds each, the reputation of the Mexican first lady and all those hand embroidered Victorian collectors items. Who knew we were all so, so wrong?!
As for me, yes, you're absolutely right. I'm sitting at home in muddy jeans and a polo shirt covered in brick dust and I probably have half my garden in my hair. And I am STILL entitled to have an opinion on the fashion of Mrs O: what and whom she's wearing.
Mrs T, did I ever tell you how happy the "whom" makes me??? No? It makes me very happy.

Go Tell Michelle! Mrs. O Your wardrobe creations are works of artistics designs. They can be worn during any time of the day or night. You have worked so hard to accomplish degrees from Princeton and Harvard. The most significant beautiful creations that you have shared with us and the public in the United States and abroad are the two beautiful young ladies that have brought joy to the White House.
I must also submit the following information on this comment because It is very important. I'm sure the President knew Sgt Crowley was lying about Professor Gates. I Campained for President during his race against Hillary Clinton. I have worked in local, state and federal government for thirty years. I have a undergraduate and masters degree in Criminal Justice and served on Police community relations Boards and taught police community relations to new police recurits. Remember Joe the plumber. Sgt Crowley knew who professor Gates was and he knew were professor Gates lived. He also knew that during the summer President Obama spent time with Professor Gates at Martha's Vineyard. The 911 report showed that there were not comments about two Black men trying to break into the house. approximately a year ago There was an article regarding Professor Gates that mentioned his relationship with then Senator Obama. I feel so grateful that the truth prevailed. This was another dangerous republican attack. Sarah Palin speeches were the most dangerous because she always referred to Obama as a terriost. Her terrioist racist remarkes threatned the life of Barack Obama. Black Alaskans have filed an ethics complaint againt her. What scares me is there are so many Sgt Crowley on police forces in the United States and too many old republicans in the House and the Senate that have used their paid positions too lie cheat and steal from the government. McCain and the Keating 5 Savings and Loans Scandal. Newt Ginrich ethics complaint when he served as speaker of the House had to pay back the $300,000 that he had stolen. The Cambridge Police Department should apologoze to our President Obama and Professor Gates. Mrs. O if you decide that you want to buy a pair of tennis shoes for $1,000 tennis shoes buy them. You worked hard to graduate from the top and best ivy league Universities. I am so proud that no one gave you any thing, you earned it. I am also proud to have you are our First Lady.
Though I think Michelle looks lovely in the yellow I was extremely shocked that she didn't wear Calvin Klein Collection given that Francisco Costa was being honored at the event.
