Hot Pink for Volunteerism

Tuesday was a full day for the First Lady. Before her gardening duties, Mrs. O spoke at an awards ceremony for Greater DC Cares, the largest coordinator of volunteerism in the Washington, DC area.

For the event Mrs. O wore a black and white textured jacket over a hot pink shell. The jacket and top were paired with a Sonia Rykiel belt, which featured a coordinating hot pink buckle. (We have an idea about the jacket but want to confirm details first...) Update: Mrs. O wears the Bowtie Tweed cardigan jacket from the Thakoon Resort 2009 collection.

Lena Horne once said that Black women look best in purple. During the run of her hit Broadway one woman show, she insisted that she be lit entirely in purple lights.

Just thought I'd share!

Mrs. T. I am having trouble logging in. Any advice.......PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.....If Our FLOTUS loves belts, let her wear those darn belts. I am sure there are some things we wear and could care less who approves. If we feel good and think we look good , we are going to wear it regardless what anyone may think. Let's get over this and enjoy the ride. If we don't realize it by now FLOTUS just like some of us does not need nor want anyone's else opinion when it comes to expressing being you. Now, if we allow others to put us in a box then we would all look like the Stepford Wives. FLOAT ON FLOTUS.......FLOAT ON

I stand with Joyce, Hyde Parker, Canyongal and numerous other posters who agree that the belts need to go. Why, oh why, would anyone choose to ruin a perfectly great outfit with a belt that either does not sit well or looks downright cheap? The belts just are not required, are not flattering, and ruin the lines of her otherwise beautiful clothing. Who needs that? Somebody, somewhere is not being objective. Are Mrs. O's friends or family too timid to speak up? I just don't get it...never will. It is also what people are going to remember the most-photographed woman in the world for....her obsession with belts. Urg.

Her main point that day: "Communities are built and rebuilt by regular people." So true. We can look great while helping our country.

This is an article that was posted in April along with pictures showcasing Mrs. O's "obsession" with belts.

May I draw your attention to the blue belt (by Maria Cornejo) as worn on "The Daily Show" on October 8th, 2008. Perhaps it isn't the belts Mrs. O needs to lose, but simply change the width and placement of them, because this ensemble is absolutely gorgeous.

What a great combo. She looks relaxed, confident and lovely. I immediately purchased a hot pink shell to wear with my black and white checked jacket. I hadn't imagined the combo. Thx to MO for inspiring us!

As a make-up artist my self I know it is possible to apply foundation quite smoothly. The look will be perfect with sponge application as long as the foundation is the right tone.
She does look flawless all the time. I wish I could get the opportunity to do her face. Just for the honour

"Here's hoping she continues to wear clothes she paid for with her money, exactly as she pleases! " Touché!

And may she never cave in to the inconsequential whims, desires, opinions, directives, demands of every Tom, Dick and Silly!

Go Michelle!
