Cuatro de Mayo

Mrs. O got an early start on Cinco de Mayo festivities, celebrating with a group of schoolchildren at a Hispanic Heritage event at the Latin American Montessori Bilingual Public Charter School (a mouthful!) in Washington, DC.
Mrs. O wears J.Crew's featherweight cashmere argyle cardigan in lavender stone salt (some may recall she wore the same cardigan last week in an olive hue), a gray pleated skirt and silver python ballet flats.
In yesterday's "Sunday with the Magazine" discussion, several of the panelists commented that Mrs. O had seemed to her expand her silhouette of choice in recent months -- once defined by the body skimming sheath dress -- to include the flattering fitted cardigan and full skirt combination. We see another great example of this silhouette here.

Just saw Mrs O at a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the White House. Georgeous chartreuse dress. Waiting on pics to share.
Janelle, the link you provided for politico did not work for me.
And top of all this, the First Lady has a sexy and handsome man that is madly in love with her. Man, this woman is bless!
Here is the first photo I can find of the dress:

BeeGee,
The intent of my post was not to limit or curtail disent on this board (I have no control over what's posted here actually LOL) but to simply express annoyance with all the "I'm tired off" comments; we've had the I'm tired of the belts, the cardigans, the flats, the arms etc. I guess we all have our opinions but it does get a bit old. She's who she is and this blog has thrived for that reason, I don't like most of what she wears but it's her style and I respect that.
I spotted the TBG, he looked ready at a moments notice to protect her from those children lol
@Donna No Shock,
Thanks for that photo of the angle of the yellow dress. The following link that I found from your link really shows the beautiful beadwork--it has turquoise, silver etc. beads in the front from the waist up with cinched waist. The spacing of the beads is interesting and is just enough to be dressy and not flashy or overdone. Very well constructed.

New pics of the yellow dress on Daylife and Yahoo. I can only see the top. Yellow looks great on her. The cut of the dress is beautiful
Love the yellow dress.
It shouts 'spring is here'.
I was wondering where TBG has been. He doesn't care if you're five or fifty-five -- you make the wrong move, you're going DOWN.
Another Jason wu? Maria pinto?
Yahoo has a great shot of the yellow dress here:

Dr. Biden is in one of those shots and she looks great in purple. I think she is so cute. She's the kind of teacher I would like to have, I think. Yeah, i don't really have much to base that on, but she just seems like she'd be a nice person.
Very cute look for Mrs.O and did anyone see Jill Bidens' dress. It was sleeveless in royal purple satin or silk. It almost looked like the dress Mrs.O wore that caused such an uproar about her going sleeveless at the Presidential Address.
wow that yellow dress is so pretty, perfectly youthful and springy; it's definitely my favorite outfit in a while. i want that dress!
a thought on the earlier argyle outfit; i'm wondering if perhaps mrs. o is wearing more casual and repetitive outfits to some of these events because she wants people to focus a little more on what she's doing and less on what she's wearing; and then at social events in the evening she's having more fun.
Here's a nice pic of the Pres and Mrs. O at the White House. Maybe they got started late. He's jokingly checking his watch.

Two things;
1. Michelle's hair and skin are just too flawless! It's so annoying sometimes. I am just envious of that glow her skin always seems to have and that wonderful shinny mane!
2. Those metallic snake skin ballet slippers are very very chic...love them.
And about that lavender argyle cardigan (again)! Michelle understands how to dress appropriately and how to dress in order to seem approachable. Her choice of pastels echoes girly, light, fairytale like things, which these kids can relate to, so I commend her for that.
American-n-Rome-
President Obama checked his watch (for the date), today is the 4th and Cinco de Mayo is May 5th. He then made a joke about it.

I wonder if the designer of the dress is Hispanic/Latin - that would be fitting since they are celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
Thanks Leah D. I haven't seen video footage.

This picture shows the details of the dress. It's beautiful.
A perfect outfit for a school celebration. Beautiful color of lavender for spring!
Pretty in pastel. Mrs. O looks lovely as always! :)

How lovely...
I just can't get enough of this woman, exquisite in every sense, and her magnificent husband-
I laughed with tears in my eyes as I watched the video and the kids hugging her...just beautiful!
Love the argyle and full skirt and those cleverly added python ballet flats. So cool in her ways, our first lady has the willingness to disobey what is "appropiate." For me appropiate is what she is. Her clothes, although striking in their ability to make your eyes linger, can't compete with the heart of Michelle. She is truly a wonder.
Great color. Dumpy dress. Does nothing for her.
Nice event, cute event with the kids. However, I don't like Mrs. Obama's outfit. Why does she wear her cardigans so tight? She's also been wearing quite a bit of argyle of late. The puffy, pleated skirt doesn't work for me either.
However, I agree with Mrs. Obama that Mexican food is tasty!
Watching the video, I realized I was grinning. I just love how children gravitate toward her. She is such a genuine and lovely person, I think they just naturally intuit it. Reminds me of those girls at the London school where she spoke.
I love the skirt and cardigan combos, such a pretty, smart look. Wear what you want, Mrs. O, you always look beautiful, confident and comfortable.
@ Janelle
thanks for the link
I adore Ikram, and I love that Michelle has someone she can trust helping her out
She really cleaned J Crew out of those Argyle sweaters, No?
FLOTUS is dressed like a school teacher. It's very appropriate for meeting with children. Children are unpredictable, she never knows when she may have to get down on the floor etc. A full skirt is perfect for bending and stooping. The sweater is very youthful. I think it's becoming a common theme (the full skirt/sweater) when meeting with children. I say "stick with what works". I love the color and the flats add a bit of punch. The hair is flawless....AGAIN. Bravo!
As ever Michelle looks lovely, approachable, friendly, and has a beautiful manner with the children. I love all the Q&A - she's so open, it's truly refreshing.
Obviously, the vile Argyle is a downside, but Mrs O can't wear them every day, so I just wait for a day without it!!!
(Person who commented on python shoes: in the spirit of checking that your own actions are faultless before poking at someone else, I am assuming that ALL your clothes and shoes are made from organic fabrics and from fair trade organisations so that you know the origin of each piece you wear? Yes, good, thought so.)
Well, well, well. Is this the O fan club? or just MO butt kisser? All her clothes are hideous in my opinion.
